    Member Profile: Base95/Branding 101

Denise hosts with Tim and welcomes returning guest Hayden Anderson of Base 95 for a conversation focused on branding, strategy, and how small businesses can better communicate who they are. Hayden shares the origin of Base 95, his creative background, and how years of work in media, design, and strategy led him to build a brand‑first agency. He explains the difference between branding and marketing, noting that branding is the foundation that defines identity, message, and perception, while marketing is simply the output. He also describes common issues he sees with small businesses, including inconsistent logos, unclear messaging, and the challenges of do‑it‑yourself design. Hayden walks through his brand strategy process, beginning with defining big-picture goals, identifying what a business must be known for, outlining the actions needed now, and determining which gaps must be filled. He then explains how he builds a ninety-day action plan and a brand story framework built around three pillars: the catalyst, the core, and the proof. Denise and Tim highlight how valuable this clarity is for small businesses, especially those that are too close to their own operations to see their brand from a customer’s perspective. The conversation also covers finding the right audience, choosing the right associations, and knowing when a client is not the right fit. Hayden shares examples of recent success stories, including work with REMAX, local artist Rob Manarazi, and a long‑standing Winston‑Salem tattoo shop. The episode closes with appreciation for Base 95’s impact on Chamber members and the importance of strong branding for long‑term business growth. Be sure to subscribe! Member Profile: PTRC – Internships & Apprenticeships

Denise and Tim welcome Jacob Thompson of the Piedmont Triad Regional Council to discuss workforce development resources available to employers and job seekers across the region. Jacob explains his role as a business engagement coordinator and outlines how PTRC supports municipalities across 12 counties, with the Workforce Development Board serving 10 of those. He highlights the organization’s broad service areas — including aging, community development, planning, and workforce- all designed to strengthen local government and regional economic growth. Jacob details how PTRC helps employers address hiring and training needs through programs such as on-the-job training, wage reimbursements, Work Opportunity Tax Credits, and partnerships with ApprenticeshipNC. He also explains the NextGen youth program, which provides paid work experience for individuals ages 16–24, fully funded through NCWorks, with employers offering mentorship. Job seekers can access resume help, interview prep, and employment-readiness through NCWorks Career Centers, while employers can work directly with Jacob to participate in available programs. The conversation also covers PTRC’s upcoming local government hiring event on August 26, the organization’s podcast, and the importance of considering reentry populations as an untapped workforce pipeline. Jacob closes by sharing his contact information for employers seeking support, and Denise wraps the episode with Chamber reminders, appreciation for listeners, and standard audio disclaimers. Pickleball & More: What’s Coming Up at the Chamber

Denise Heidel sits down with producer Tim Beaman to walk through the Chamber’s late‑summer updates as July winds down and the busy season approaches. She announces the rebranding of Brewing Connections to Coffee Connections, now held on the first Friday of each month at 9 a.m. beginning August 7. The shift clears up confusion about the event’s purpose, avoids overlap with Tasty Tuesday, and gives members a more accessible start time for morning networking. They also preview the Chamber in Action volunteer event, happening the same afternoon on August 7, where members will support A Bed in a Book. Denise reflects on earlier CIA efforts, including the spring project at the Ronald McDonald House, and emphasizes how these biannual service days strengthen community ties. Additional August activities include the monthly Chamber meeting, ribbon cuttings, and business‑after‑hours gatherings as the calendar ramps back up. Looking ahead to September, Denise highlights the third annual pickleball tournament on September 19, now partnered with Dilldinkers — the Triad’s first indoor pickleball facility. The event features mixed, women’s, and men’s doubles, plus a beginner workshop, all serving as a fundraiser to keep Chamber programming strong and dues affordable. She closes with a look toward fall planning, noting that the new membership guide and partnership menu will debut in late September as the Chamber continues expanding opportunities for its business community.
