    Why are teachers expected to be perfect when other professions get room to practice? Rick and Tisha open up the first responses to "What Are You Noticing?", the anonymous section of their new Press Play newsletter, and read them out on air. One listener asks why doctors and attorneys have a career practice while educators face a performance expectation of near perfection.     Would I Lie to You? Teacher Edition — Truth or Complete Rubbish?

    Would you know if your co-host was lying to you? Tisha and Rick borrow the brilliance of the British panel show Would I Lie to You? for a no-guest, just-for-fun episode — each tells a story from their life, the other interrogates them, and then they make the call: true, or complete rubbish? The stories get wild fast. A hundred copies of The Exorcist's Regan hidden around a high school classroom. A Warhammer figurine superglued to a kid's fingers before school. A student left behind on a certification field trip. A screwdriver welded to a live light switch. Twenty speeding stops before 18 — and only one ticket. A microwave pizza explosion. And a bonus round: 23 famous people met completely by chance, from George W. Bush to New Kids on the Block. Along the way there's a Man United vs. Liverpool whiteboard prank, some Tisha maths, a very strict dad, and a bit of neurodivergent honesty — including why Tisha calls it before Rick's even finished, and why she thinks seeing famous people as just people comes down to how her brain works.     What Lessons Were We Taught and No Longer Believe?

    What did you believe at 25 that you'd now call complete bollocks? Tisha and Rick go off-script for this one — no plan, no guest, just the two of them working through the things they were taught and no longer believe. It starts funny: you won't always have a calculator with you, eat your carrots and you'll see in the dark, eat your crusts and your hair will go curly. Then it gets honest. Hard work doesn't guarantee recognition, loyalty or security. Once you've learned a lesson, you'll still struggle with it — knowing something and living it are two different stages of growth. There's a way, not the way, and different doesn't mean wrong. Money buys freedom, not happiness. Nobody, at any age, actually knows what they're doing. And being told you're "too much" might just mean you're in the wrong space, not that you need to make yourself smaller. Rick and Tisha sit down with Dr. Amy Mathews-Perez, who spent 34 years in Texas public education as a teacher, speech pathologist, diagnostician, special education supervisor, assistant principal, principal and director of special education. Amy has sat on every side of that table, and she's refreshingly blunt about what happens on it. They get into why lawyers end up in special ed meetings, why "later can be expensive", and why data — not opinion — has to drive accommodation decisions. She also makes a point every teacher needs to hear: you have accommodations too, you just don't call them that.
