    Stones Throw Records founder Peanut Butter Wolf joins Jeff and Vic on The Truth Hurts for a deep dive into 30 years of one of hip-hop’s most influential independent labels. Peanut Butter Wolf tells the stories behind working with Madlib, J Dilla, MF DOOM, Aloe Blacc and more, including how Madvillainy came together in the Stones Throw house and bomb shelter, the origins of Jaylib, and KRS-One hearing an early Peanut Butter Wolf and Charizma record. Wolf also talks about discovering Madlib, the evolution of Stones Throw Records, almost signing Odd Future, Tyler, the Creator and the next generation of artists influenced by the label, the rise of streaming, AI-generated music, and what the future looks like for independent record labels. From the early Bay Area years to Madvillainy, Donuts, Quasimoto and Stones Throw’s 30th anniversary, this is a retrospective on the artists, records and unlikely decisions that helped shape underground hip-hop.
