    LTA Champs, The Icons League & Vicky Crewe Guest Appearance

    Nick and Jen are back for another Padel Stories tie-break, catching up from Destination Padel in Cheadle. Jen kicks things off with a catch-up on her game with Kath, Vicky and Lauren, before the conversation turns to Jen cheerleading her partner Jamie who completed the Berlin Marathon. That sparks memories of Nick’s 2009 London Marathon and Jen’s own marathon experience, with both agreeing that finishing one was a brilliant achievement… but once was probably enough! There’s a more reflective moment too, as Nick talks about feeling pretty ropey over the past week. It opens up a conversation about doing too much, saying yes too often and recognising when it’s time to slow down..or, as Nick’s dad would put it, when the good Lord gives you a tap on the shoulder and says, “Come on, enough’s enough.” Then it’s firmly back to padel. Nick and Jen look back at the recent LTA Padel Championships, congratulating men’s champions Alfonso Patacho and Christian Medina Murphy, along with women’s winners Catherine Rose and Amy Gibson. There’s also a very special shout-out for Hirostar’s own female ambassador Louise Loveridge after her fantastic run to the semi-finals of the Over 40s. Nick also explains the new Icon league after getting some first-hand feedback from good friend of the show Ivo Maciel of Nucleus Padel. They dig into this intriguing new IPL-style concept for padel, including leading player and Raptors captain Mik Underwood’s take on the auction-style format and what it could bring to the sport. There’s also what might just be our best Padel Postcard yet, as Matt The London Padel Coach  checks in from New York with a brilliant dispatch from across the Atlantic showcasing PadelHaus. And finally, a topic that will resonate with plenty of regular players: Vicky Crewe’s point about booking courts through Playtomic. When one person fronts the full cost of a court, should they really be left carrying the risk if somebody cancels, forgets to pay or drops out? Is there a fairer way of doing it?     PadelFest Debrief, The Cruyff Foundation & Kath Foster Special Appearance!

    NB and Jen are back on the sofa again for a tiebreak episode. We kicked things off with a look back at a fantastic day at PadelFest in Bristol, with a huge shoutout to George and Ben from the Padel Directory for putting on such a brilliant event. NB was wearing two hats on the day, representing both Padel Stories & HiroStar, and we chatted about NB’s journey down, including a stop at Gloucester Quays, where Kris Ball kindly sorted us out with a court alongside Jason Manford, Uncle Steve, José (Tolito’s interpreter) and, of course, JB! We shared some stories about the brilliant people we met at PadelFest before moving on to our latest padel adventures. Jen and I had been playing with Kath Foster, a great friend of the Carrick family, who told us about the Carrick Foundation’s exciting work with the Cruyff Foundation to build a padel court in Wallsend, Tyneside. We also chatted about Kyle Walker’s involvement as a trustee of the Carrick Foundation. And we couldn’t forget Premier League referee and Padel Podcast listener Paul Tierney, who took charge of the Dockers derby between Millwall and West Ham. We decided that deserved a bravery award! Plenty of stories, familiar faces, laughs and a whole lot more. Another cracking episode with the usual Padel Podcast chaos thrown in for good measure!     Padel, Charity & the Lilley Classic: Debrief with Sam Lilley

    Great friend of the show Sam Lilley joins us ahead of the second Lilley Classic, a very special padel event created by Sam and his family in memory of his late mother, Edwina, and supporting the work of the Edwina Lilly Charitable Trust. This year, the event is raising money again for Destination Florida, an incredible charity that takes children with life-limiting illnesses on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Orlando. We hear about everything that has gone into making the second Lilley Classic bigger and better, from the generosity of sponsors and the growing number of teams to friends and supporters flying over from Spain, the entertainment surrounding the tournament and the extraordinary network of people getting behind the day. But this episode is about something bigger than one event. We explore the increasingly powerful relationship between padel and charity. As the sport grows, more fundraising events are being built around the padel court, bringing communities together in a way few sports can. It’s competitive, social and accessible, and increasingly, it’s becoming a platform for doing some genuine good.     Battle of the Brands special

    In this special episode, Nick and Jen are doing a live from the Battle of the Brands held at Cpase, a two-day event organised brilliantly by Tim and Andrew from Padel Marketing & Speedway Padel.  Jen was involved in the ladies members and guest day which she thoroughly enjoyed. We then touch on that Jen wished to thank the guest presenters who were with NB over the summer: Oli the Choc, Will Ostling, and Vicky Russell.     What a Summer! The Padel Stories Round-Up

    In this special summer tie-break, we are  joined by guest presenter and great friend of the show Vicky Russell, founder of The Pollen Club in Manchester, to look back at a packed few months of padel.     Sci-MX Padel Series (Manchester) Special
