    Lord, Teach Us to Pray

Most of us feel like we're failing at prayer. Too busy, too distracted, not sure what to say, or secretly wondering if God's tired of hearing the same requests over and over. If that's you, you're in good company. Even the men who walked closest to Jesus, who'd prayed their whole lives, watched Him pray and said, "Teach us." Starting this Sunday, we're beginning a new series called Teach Us to Pray, working through the prayer Jesus gave His disciples, line by line, over the next weeks. This isn't about trying harder or feeling guilty. It's about actually knowing the Father you're praying to. Join us this Sunday as we begin.

This is What the Church is For

We all carry things we can’t fix on our own—hurt, weakness, failure, uncertainty, and sometimes even people we love who have wandered away. James reminds us that the church was never meant to be a place where we pretend to have it all together. It’s a place where we bring our brokenness, pray for one another, trust in the power of God, and go after those who have drifted. In this message, we’ll see what it looks like to live with honesty, pray with faith, and care enough about people to help bring them home.

You Are Not the Author of Your Own Story

We like to think we have life figured out. We make plans, build our schedules, save our money, and try to control what happens next—but the truth is, much of life is completely outside of our control. In this message, we’ll look at what James teaches about the uncertainty of tomorrow, the temporary nature of our possessions, and how we respond when life doesn’t go the way we planned. We may not be able to control tomorrow or guarantee the outcome, but we can choose to trust God, remain patient, and live with the right attitude through it all.

The War You're Fighting Starts Inside You

What is actually causing the conflict in your life? Most of us have a mental list of who is responsible. It could be the difficult spouse, the frustrating coworker, the person at church who said something the wrong way. But James 4 points the finger somewhere we do not expect. He says the war you are fighting out there started in here. Unmet expectations. Disordered desires. A heart that is demanding from other people what only God can actually give. This Sunday we are getting into one of the most convicting passages in the entire book of James, but it is also one of the most hopeful. Because right in the middle of the confrontation, James says something that changes everything: God gives more grace. More than we have sinned. More than we deserve. More than most of us have taken him up on yet.

Two Kinds of Wisdom, Two Kinds of Life

We are living in the most information-rich moment in human history. You can ask an AI anything and have a detailed answer in seconds. But here is the question nobody seems to be asking: “Are we actually getting wiser?” Because knowledge and wisdom are not the same thing. You can know exactly what the Bible says and still live in a way that contradicts all of it. In James 3, James tells us there are two kinds of wisdom operating in the world, and they lead to two completely different lives. One starts with you, measures everything by what it can get for you, and ends in jealousy, bitterness, and destruction. The other starts with God, measures everything by what it can give, and ends in peace, righteousness, and a life that looks like Jesus. This Sunday we are asking an honest question: which one has actually been driving your life? Join us as we continue our series Undivided: Whole Faith. Holy Life.

The Tongue and the War Within

Words are more powerful and far more revealing than we think. In James 3, James uses six vivid pictures to show us three dimensions of the power our words carry. The power to direct. The power to destroy. And the power to delight. And here is what makes this passage so convicting: James says what comes out of your mouth reveals what is going on in your heart. The good news is that the same God who exposes the problem is the one who can fix it. Not by helping you try harder, but by changing the heart that is producing the words.

A Faith That Does Nothing Proves Nothing

Every one of us needs to wrestle with a question James asks in chapter 2: what does your faith actually prove? In this message, we tackle one of the most important and most misunderstood passages in the entire New Testament. On the surface, James and Paul appear to flatly contradict each other on the question of faith and works. We untangle that tension and show why both of them are actually defending the same gospel from two different angles. More than that, this message speaks directly to two kinds of people: the person who has always assumed they are saved but has never really examined that assumption, and the person who genuinely loves Jesus but lives in constant fear that their faith is never quite enough. James is not writing to create anxiety. He is writing to create clarity. Because genuine faith is always visible. It moves. It acts. It leaves evidence behind. And the good news at the center of it all is that the same Jesus James describes is available to every single one of us today.

There Are No Favorites in the Kingdom

The church was never meant to be a club that certain people can't afford to join. This Sunday we're diving into James 2, where James confronts something happening inside the early church that is still happening today. The way we treat people when they walk through the door reveals more about our faith than we'd like to admit.
