Then I get into my complicated relationship with birthdays. The anxiety, the expectations, the history tied to the day I was born, and that very specific fear that no one will show up (even though… they always do). I talk about growing up, letting go of the “perfect birthday” fantasy, and realizing that what actually matters is feeling genuinely close to the people you love, even if it’s over FaceTime. There are reflections on gratitude, near-miss moments that make you rethink everything, aging without losing humor (or collagen), and why I firmly believe my personal new year starts on my birthday, not January 1st. Why are oysters so expensive here? Why do bathrooms have ventilators instead of windows?     Ep.8: Creo en la Risa, en el Amor… y en los Gays

    En este episodio de Better Late en Español me fui por el camino espiritual... y terminó siendo uno de los más honestos hasta ahora. Hablé de mi crianza católica, mis años en un colegio del Opus Dei, y cómo fue vivir en una residencia religiosa siendo una payasa de vocación (spoiler: no duré mucho ahí). También reflexiono sobre mi relación con Dios, con la fe, con los rituales… y cómo todo eso cambió cuando salí de mi país. Además, comparto mi postura —con mucho amor— sobre la comunidad LGBTQ+, y por qué creo que nadie debería ser juzgado por a quién ama o cómo se identifica. Si alguna vez te sentiste fuera de lugar dentro de una estructura que se suponía que te diera respuestas… este episodio te va a hablar.
