    Carl-Philippe Juste | Founder of IPC ArtSpace | Wynwood Magazine Podcast

    Welcome to a powerful and intimate conversation recorded at the home of Carl-Philippe Juste, one of the most influential visual journalists and cultural leaders in the Haitian and Miami communities. Carl-Philippe Juste is the founder of IPC ArtSpace, Director of Iris PhotoCollective, and curator of over 70 projects. He is a Senior Photojournalist at the Miami Herald and CEO of the Haitian Cultural Arts Alliance. Born in Haiti, Juste and his politically active family fled persecution in 1965 and rebuilt their lives in Miami’s Haitian community. Over his remarkable career, he has received countless awards and covered major national and international stories—including assignments in Haiti, Cuba, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq. In 1998, he co-founded Iris PhotoCollective, and in 2016 he received the prestigious Knight Arts Challenge grant to develop Havana, Haiti: Two Cultures, One Community, a groundbreaking book and exhibition exploring the interconnected lives of Cubans and Haitians. The book will be published by Akashi Press in 2025. In 2019, Carl opened IPC ArtSpace, deepening his commitment to public engagement through the arts. He has since curated numerous exhibitions funded by the Mellon Foundation, Perez Family Foundation, Green Family Foundation, Miami-Dade Office of Cultural Affairs, and Florida Humanities. His work and leadership have been featured by major media outlets worldwide. Carl also serves as Founder and Director of Visual Journalism for FIU’s iWitness: IPC Institute for Visual Journalism, guiding projects on immigration, climate change, and global diasporas while building a think tank, curriculum, archive, and public activations.
