Clinical Trials at the Melbourne Medical School

How do we ask the right clinical questions, build the necessary partnerships, and apply the appropriate methodologies needed to answer them? Professor Sarath Ranganathan sits down with Professor Steven Tong, Clinical Professorial Fellow in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Melbourne Medical School, infectious diseases physician with the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service, and Co-Head of Clinical and Health Services Research at the Doherty Institute. Together, they discuss how Steven's experiences caring for patients, particularly in infectious diseases and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, have shaped a research career focused on improving patient outcomes. He also shares the story behind the award-winning Staphylococcus aureus Network Adaptive Platform (SNAP) Trial, a novel, large scale, international clinical trial that will both establish best practice evidence and optimise care for patients during the conduct of the trial.
