    Creation....really?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! Can faith and science actually live in the same world? And do Christians have to agree on exactly how God created everything? In the season finale of Not for Sunday Morning, Chris is joined by guest host Matt to go deeper into this week’s conversation about creation. They talk young-earth creationism, evolution, the age of the universe, how we interpret Genesis, and why the Bible can be true without answering every scientific question we might want it to answer. But the bigger conversation is about what happens when Christians disagree. Can we hold our convictions without turning every secondary issue into a test of someone else’s faith? Can we admit, “I don’t know”? And have we become so focused on arguing about how God created the world that we’ve forgotten to stop and marvel at the God who created it? And because it’s the final episode of the season, things naturally get a little weird. Platypuses. Extinct animals. Dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden. Behemoth and Leviathan. Aliens and UFOs. Whether animals died before the fall. And, somehow, Bigfoot makes an appearance. It’s science, Scripture, theology, mystery, and plenty of rabbit trails as we wrap up another season. Keep asking questions.

How can a loving God send people to Hell?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! What do we actually mean when we talk about hell? In this episode of Not For Sunday Mornings, Steve and Chris continue the “Questions Kids Ask” series by digging into one of the hardest questions Christians wrestle with: If God loves everyone, why is there hell? They talk about how much of our picture of hell comes from Dante rather than Scripture, the different biblical words translated as “hell,” what Jesus actually taught about judgment, and why the story of the rich man and Lazarus matters. They also explore eternal conscious punishment, annihilation, universal reconciliation, purgatory, and the mystery of what happens between death and final judgment. But underneath all of those questions is something much more personal: God takes our choices more seriously than we often do. If hell is real, how should that change the way we think about God, our own lives, and the people we love? It’s a difficult conversation, but an important one.

Why do I still mess up?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! Why do I keep messing up if I really love Jesus? In this episode of Not for Sunday Mornings, Steve and Chris dig deeper into the struggle with sin, sanctification, grace, and what spiritual growth actually looks like. Does struggling with sin mean you aren’t growing? What’s the difference between guilt and shame? How do you work hard at becoming more like Jesus without believing your effort earns God’s approval? And at what point does “putting sin to death” require more than simply praying about it? We also get practical about pornography, alcohol, gossip, anger, materialism, accountability, and the uncomfortable reality that sometimes following Jesus means taking an aggressive step to remove something from your life. The big idea: You aren’t fighting for an identity. You’re fighting from an identity. You are going to mess up. The question is what you do next. Do you stay down in shame, or do you get back up and turn toward Jesus again? Plus, golf, musical instruments, hospital visits Steve definitely did not make, big smelly onions, and why Romans might be harder to preach through than Leviticus. Keep asking good questions.

    Can I trust the Bible?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! Can we really trust the Bible? And if we say we do, what does that actually mean for how we live? This week on Not for Sunday Mornings, Chris and Steve dig deeper into where the Bible came from, how the books were chosen, why context matters, and what historical evidence says about its reliability. We also tackle some of the harder questions: What do we do with difficult passages? Why does the Catholic Bible have more books? Does calling the Bible a “story” minimize its authority? And how does the Holy Spirit help us understand Scripture? Plus, which Bible characters would be absolutely unbearable in a group chat? If you’ve ever had questions about the Bible but weren’t sure you were allowed to ask them, this episode is for you.

    Why can't I hear God?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! This video is about Episode In this episode of Not for Sunday Mornings, Chris and Steve unpack one of the most personal questions in the series. Does God still speak? Should we expect to hear an audible voice? How can we tell the difference between God’s leading, our emotions, and something we simply want to do? They talk about Samuel and Eli, the importance of spiritual mentors, what to do when God seems silent, and how Scripture and Christian community help us test what we believe God may be saying. They also wrestle with whether sin affects our ability to hear God, whether following Him is always difficult, and how spiritual habits can bring us closer to God without becoming another religious checklist. Plus, Steve receives a turtle from God, Chris questions Steve’s singing career, a baptism discussion appears out of nowhere, and the podcast welcomes a brand-new grandpa. Subscribe, join the conversation, and keep asking good questions.

Why does God allow bad things to happen?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! Why do bad things happen, and what are we supposed to say when “I don’t know” feels like the only honest answer? This week, Steve and Chris unpack Silas’ powerful message on suffering, Job, grief, unanswered prayer, and the temptation to offer easy answers when someone is hurting. They talk about whether everything really happens for a reason, the difference between joy and happiness, why questioning God is not the same as putting Him on trial, and what it means to simply sit with someone in their pain. They also discuss a little girl who wanted to kick Jesus in the face, why Job’s friends may be more like us than we want to admit, and whether Steve should preach an entire year through Leviticus. Chris has already voted no. This is an honest conversation about suffering, faith, and a Savior who does not watch our pain from a distance.

Why did Jesus have to die?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! Can God really forgive without justice? Why all the blood sacrifices? And… will we still be married in heaven? This week on Not For Sunday Mornings, Chris is officially in the hot seat after preaching on one of Christianity’s biggest questions: Why did Jesus have to die? Steve pushes back on everything from God’s justice and the sacrificial system to the torn temple veil and what it actually means to live forgiven. Along the way they wander into Hebrews, Leviticus, Indiana Jones (sort of), and somehow end up answering a listener’s question about marriage in heaven. If you’ve ever wondered why the cross was necessary this conversation is for you.

    What is Heaven like?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! What is heaven actually like? This week on Not For Sunday Mornings, Steve and Chris talk about restoration, the meaning of “new heaven and new earth,” whether we will work in heaven, and why our picture of eternity may be shaped more by culture than Scripture. Along the way, they discuss dogs in heaven, bad movie theology, Belinda Carlisle, and whether Mountain Dew is already a glimpse of glory. Keep asking good questions.

    Who is God?

Send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! Season 3 is here, the studio has toys now, and somehow we made it all the way from kids’ questions to Genesis, John, conspiracy theories, golden calves, grace and truth, and whether God has a dog named Fido. This week, Chris and Steve continue the conversation from Sunday’s message, “Who Is God?” and talk about why simple questions from kids often lead to the deepest questions adults are still carrying.
