From Tuna Sandwiches to Rapid Implementation: Stories That Sell featuring Stephanie Ward

In this episode of Stories That Sell, I’m joined by Bedlington-based Stephanie Ward, Rapid Implementation Specialist, founder of Stephanie Ward & Co, Spicy Brain Energy and The Spicy Brain Collective, for a conversation about autonomy, neurodivergence, health, business, intuition and what happens when you stop accepting the status quo. Stephanie grew up with entrepreneurship around her, but her original plan was to become a doctor. Then life took a very different turn. Born with hip dysplasia, Stephanie was using a wheelchair by the age of 25 and spent years navigating surgeries, physiotherapy and long stretches in hospital. But it was during that time in hospital that her entrepreneurial story began, all because she refused to eat tuna sandwiches three days in a row and really wanted fried chicken. What might sound like a small moment became the start of something much bigger. After a suggestion from a friend, Stephanie became a VA and landed her first client within 24 hours. Since then, Stephanie has built businesses around implementation, neurodivergence, access and autonomy. Through The Spicy Brain Collective, she has created a community for neurodivergent entrepreneurs and people who think differently, giving them a space to feel supported, understood and less alone. We talk about unmasking, trusting your instincts, advocating for your health, building a business that doesn’t hurt you, the 391 Days Project, giving yourself permission to leave, and why brilliant business owners often don’t need more strategy. They need the right support to actually implement what they already know. This episode is for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood, underestimated or trapped inside a business, body or structure that wasn’t built with them in mind. From Cave Dwellings to Designing a Life That Works: Stories That Sell featuring Clare Nash

In this episode of Stories That Sell, I’m joined by Oxfordshire-based Clare Nash, architect, author, mentor and founder of Clare Nash Architecture, for a conversation about sustainable homes, solo travel, questioning the expected path and designing a life that actually works. Clare’s route into architecture wasn’t exactly straightforward. She grew up around building sites, originally wanted to be a racing engineer, studied interior architecture, retrained as an architect and later travelled alone through places including China, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and South America while researching sustainable housing. One of the stories we talk about is Clare travelling across China to visit a cave-dwelling settlement, taking two trains, a bus and then walking for an hour to get there. Not exactly your average research trip. After coming back from six months of travel during a recession, Clare had no job, no savings and no clients. So she started her architecture practice with postcards in local shop windows, a very simple website and a lot of determination. We talk about homes, family rhythms, why people often think they need more space when they actually need better space, and why Clare believes good design should support how you want to live, not make life harder. We also talk about building a flexible business before flexible working was normal, designing around real life, and why Clare has never been interested in following the traditional route just because everyone else does it that way. This episode is for anyone who wants to question the way things have always been done and create a home, business or life that feels more like them. From Growing Up Above a Pub to Embracing Psychic Gifts - Stories That Sell with Ben Franklin

In this episode of Stories That Sell, I’m joined by Essex-based Ben Franklin, business psychic, intuitive strategist, speaker, event producer and founder of Bold Intuition Co., for a conversation about business, spirituality, self-trust and what happens when success no longer fits. Ben grew up above his family’s pub in London, raised by his dad in a fast-paced, people-filled environment where he learned early on how to read people, sense what was going on beneath the surface and trust what he could feel, not just what he could see. But Ben’s path into intuitive work and business wasn’t straightforward. Before building Bold Intuition Co., he trained as a dancer, spent a decade in aviation with British Airways, moved into leadership, and later worked in high-ticket property sales. From the outside, his career looked successful. Underneath it all, something didn’t fit. After a serious illness in 2014, Ben stopped separating his psychic gifts from his work and began bringing his intuition, spiritual awareness and business experience together. We talk about growing up around people, learning to trust your intuition, building a business that feels aligned, and why Ben believes he wasn’t built for following someone else’s blueprint. This episode is for anyone who’s built something that looks good on paper but knows they’ve outgrown the version of themselves that created it. From High Standards to Imperfect Action - Stories That Sell with Daisy Ferns

In this episode of Stories That Sell, I’m joined by Derby-based lead generation expert Daisy Ferns for a conversation about motherhood, business, high standards, and why imperfect action changed everything. Before building multiple successful businesses, Daisy was a secondary school teacher working in university management, never planning to become an entrepreneur. But after becoming a mum and dealing with years of sleep deprivation, she reached a point where something had to change. Within weeks of returning from maternity leave, Daisy retrained, left her job, and started a business from scratch in the parenting space. Since then, she’s built her businesses through conversations, relationships, and taking action before feeling ready, rather than relying on a huge audience or constantly being online. We talk about the pressure of high standards, learning to trust yourself, building a business around real life, and why Daisy now proudly calls herself the Queen of Imperfect Action. This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt stuck waiting for the “right time” before making a move. Rejecting Hustle Culture & The Emotions Of Parenting - Stories That Sell featuring Toni Addinall

Some people spend years chasing success before realising the version they built no longer fits the life they actually want. In this episode of Stories That Sell with Operations Manager Toni Addinall, who I can only describe as the silent ninja you never know you needed in business, we talk about what happens when business growth, family life and personal identity all start shifting at the same time. From rejecting hustle culture to navigating the emotional changes that come with parenting teenagers and young adults, this conversation explores the reality of changing roles both at home and in business. We talk about boundaries, leadership, relationships, strong coffee, long walks, and the pressure many business owners feel to constantly keep pushing, even when they know something needs to change. This episode is honest, thoughtful and packed with the kind of conversations more business owners need to hear. Buying an island online to air traffic control – Stories That Sell Featuring Sophie Foote

Some people build a life based on routine and rules. Others follow instinct, take risks, and create something completely their own. In this episode of Stories That Sell, I’m joined by Sophie Foote, and her story is one that doesn’t follow the usual path. What started as a life of travel and saying yes to opportunities across Southeast Asia turned into something most people wouldn’t even consider.  Buying a beach in Indonesia online and building a diving resort from scratch with her husband. Living off-grid, raising a young family, running the day-to-day of a business in a completely unfamiliar environment, and handling whatever came next.  Including moments that feel unreal, like holding back a jungle fire with a palm leaf while her baby slept nearby . After five years, they sold the resort and returned to the UK, where Sophie later built and sold another business, this time in property. Now, Sophie spends her time helping other business owners step back, look at what they’ve built, and shape it into something that gives them more freedom and multiple income streams. This conversation is inspiring, eye-opening, and will likely shift how you think about taking risks, making decisions, and backing yourself in business. Fighting with the Fonz, Fire Breathing and Franchising - Stories That Sell featuring Jess Wesson

Some people build careers step by step. Others follow instinct, take risks, and create something completely their own. In this episode of Stories that Sell with Franchise Consultant Jess Wesson, aka Jolly Jess, we unpack a journey that moves from stage lights to scaling a national business. What started as a simple suggestion to “add more skills" into a career of dance, theatre and performance, turned into fire breathing, circus performance, and eventually building an award-winning children’s business, Showtime Circus, that grew into a nationwide franchise. Now, alongside Showtime Circus, Jess helps other business owners franchise or license their own business.  This conversation is honest, energetic, and full of moments that will make you rethink what’s actually possible when you stop waiting for the “right” path. Film sets, tribute acts & a global business – Stories That Sell featuring Lucy Shrimpton

In this episode of Stories That Sell, I’m joined by Lucy Shrimpton, who shares how her journey from film sets and tribute acts turned into building a global business. This is a real story from the school of life, Lucy talks about leaving school early, figuring things out as she went, and learning through experience rather than theory. You’ll hear the highs, the harder moments, and the mindset that’s helped her keep going and keep growing. We get into what it actually takes to back yourself, make bold decisions, and build something on your own terms. There’s a strong thread throughout this conversation around belief — the kind that’s built through action, resilience, and doing things your own way. If you’ve ever felt like you don’t fit the traditional route, or you’re building your business in a way that doesn’t follow the “rules,” this episode will hit. The conversation is real, straight-talking and proof you don’t need a perfect plan to build something big — you just need to get started and stick with it.
