From Burnout to Balance: Shalece Daniels on the Power of Rest

From Edge to Ease: How to Reset Your Nervous System in 90 Seconds What if you could move from feeling stressed and revved up to feeling calmer in just 90 seconds? In this episode of The Flex Forward Podcast, Nic Espanet talks with Shalece Daniels, a Rest Strategist and Rest Tech founder, about why real rest is about much more than getting enough sleep. Shalece explains how our nervous system can stay in a high-alert state during a busy workday. Tough meetings, hard conversations, traffic, deadlines, and the everyday pressure of running a business can all make it difficult to slow down. She shares simple ways people can help their bodies downshift, including breathing exercises, grounding techniques, reflexology, and even blowing bubbles. Shalece also shares the personal story that led her to this work. While running a real estate company in Detroit, she experienced the stress of managing properties and serving people who were formerly unhoused or facing financial challenges. The pressure grew even greater during 2020. A trip that was supposed to last three weeks eventually turned into five months in Costa Rica. During that time, Shalece began learning what it really meant to rest, build better systems, and step away from constantly working inside her business. That experience eventually led her to help other entrepreneurs do the same. One practical technique Shalece shares in this episode is simple: inhale for four counts, hold for four counts, and exhale for eight counts. Repeat it three times. It is an easy exercise people can use when they need to slow down and reset. Nic and Shalece also talk about entrepreneurship, burnout, building systems, overcoming setbacks, real estate investing, and Shalece's work developing her Edge to Ease kit. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you a successful business owner or professional with insights to share? Designing Spaces That Work: Maya Moghadam on Creativity, Psychology & Purpose

Designing Spaces That Work: Maya Moghadam on Creativity, Psychology & Purpose What if great interior design isn't simply about making a space look beautiful? What if it can change how people feel, work, live, and interact with the world around them? In this episode of The Flex Forward Podcast, Nic Espanet sits down with Maya Moghadam, founder and CEO of Maya's Design Studio, to talk about interior design, entrepreneurship, creativity, and the power of creating spaces with purpose. Maya shares how growing up around architecture, art, and entrepreneurship helped shape her career from an early age. She later co-founded her first company at 24 and spent 12 years building it before making the major decision to leave everything behind, move to the United States, and start again. Today, Maya's Design Studio provides interior design services for residential, commercial, and senior living spaces. Maya explains how her background in business, interior design, construction, and design psychology allows her to look beyond how a room appears and consider how people will actually use and experience it. Nic and Maya also talk about what happens when a project doesn't go according to plan. Maya shares a real-world example of an unexpected construction problem that initially looked expensive and disruptive. Instead of panicking, she and her team found a creative solution—and turned the problem into one of the client's favorite parts of the home. They also discuss the importance of faith, staying calm during challenges, learning from mentors, understanding different cultures, and becoming an expert in your chosen niche instead of chasing every opportunity. Maya believes interior design should not be viewed simply as a luxury. The spaces where we live and work can affect our comfort, productivity, well-being, and quality of life. About Maya Moghadam Maya Moghadam is the founder and CEO of Maya's Design Studio. Her firm works in residential, commercial, and senior living interior design and provides clients with an integrated approach to design, products, vendors, and project management. Maya brings an international perspective to her work along with graduate-level education in marketing and interior design.
