Paralyzed at 18, He Said "I'm Excited to See Where God Takes Me" | Ministry Minute Episode 55

Zachary Abblitt was eighteen years old, and his life was wide open. He was a runner, a surfer, a swimmer, a musician. Then one dive into shallow water changed everything. He hit his head. In an instant, he was paralyzed. His C5 and C6 vertebrae were fractured. He had no feeling below his neck. By every human measure, this was the kind of moment that should have crushed his hope. But one week later, from a hospital bed, Zachary said something no one expected: “I’m really excited to see where the Lord is going to take me.” Zachary later said his paralysis did not feel like a trial — because to him, a trial was a circumstance with no hope. And with Jesus, he still had hope. He said he would rather walk through the fire with God than walk through the world without Him. Pastor, that is the difference between optimism and hope. Optimism depends on circumstances changing. Hope depends on the presence of God. Your people do not need a faith that only works when life makes sense. They need a firm foundation for the moment everything falls apart. Four Words on Live TV That Changed Global Ministry | Ministry Minute Episode 49

In 1978, Pat Robertson made an unplanned announcement on The 700 Club that no one saw coming. No strategic plan. No polished campaign. Just four words: "I've got a surprise." What followed was a reading from Isaiah 58, a call to feed the hungry and clothe the naked, and a simple invitation — if you have needs, call in. If you have resources, give. The church could be the bridge. That spontaneous moment became Operation Blessing — now one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, serving through hunger relief, clean water, medical care, disaster response, and community development. In this episode of Ministry Minute, Justin Trapp shares the powerful origin story of Operation Blessing and the lesson it holds for every pastor: sometimes the most meaningful ministry doesn't begin with a perfect plan. It begins with a burden you can't shake and a willingness to move.
