What Has Your Attention? | Guarding Your Mind in a Distracted World | The Keep It Real Network What’s going on everybody, I’m your host Herb Hill, and welcome back to The Keep It Real Network — where we speak truth with no fluff, no compromise, and no sugar-coating. ⚠️ Let’s Be Honest… Something has your attention. Something is feeding your eyes and ears, shaping your thoughts, and influencing what you consider normal. So the deeper question is: What are they doing with it? Everybody the world puts in front of you does not deserve access to your mind. 📖 This Episode Breaks It Down This episode is about attention, distraction, and the battle for your mind. We can spend hours consuming entertainment, social media, sports, music, drama, and endless scrolling — while asking Jesus to renew the same mind we fill with the world. At some point, we have to stop examining everybody else’s platform and examine our own appetite. 👉 What am I feeding myself?
👉 Why do I keep watching it?
👉 Is it strengthening my spirit?
👉 Or is it keeping me distracted? 🔍 What We’re Talking About: The battle for your mind and attention How distraction can make Jesus secondary Examining the fruit of what you watch Why success is not proof of righteousnessBeing entertained by things we wouldn’t personally doCreating boundaries around what enters your mindRenewing your mind and turning back toward Jesus📖 Key Scriptures (KJV)Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”1 Corinthians 10:23
“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient…” Colossians 3:2
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” 1 Peter 5:8
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Philippians 4:8
“Whatsoever things are true… honest… just… pure… lovely… of good report… think on these things.” 🚨 The Truth Most People Avoid Distraction doesn’t always look evil. Sometimes it’s funny, entertaining, trending, or not even sinful. But the question isn’t always: “Is this technically a sin?” Sometimes the better question is: 👉 “Is this edifying me?” Is it strengthening me? Is it feeding righteousness? Is it bringing my mind closer to Jesus? Or is it simply occupying me? 💭 Something to Think About… Some of us would never personally do the things we spend hours watching others do. We wouldn’t commit adultery — but watch it for entertainment. We don’t get drunk — but laugh at others getting drunk. We don’t use drugs — but listen to people glorify them. So eventually we have to ask: Why am I being entertained by something I’m asking Jesus to deliver me from? 🔥 Real Talk At some point, I have to stop asking: “Why are they making this?” …and start asking: “Why do I keep wanting to watch it?” They may be producing it. But I’m consuming it. I’m clicking, watching, listening, and giving it another hour of my life. Then I’m asking Jesus to renew my mind. That requires honest self-examination. 🎯 The Bottom Line Guard your mind. Examine what you consume. Create boundaries around what you allow into your life. Stop feeding yourself things you’re asking Jesus to deliver you from. Give Jesus your attention — your heart, obedience, time, and life. Be sober. Be vigilant. Renew your mind. Set your affection on things above. Turn away from distractions and turn back to Jesus. 🎙️ The Keep It Real Network Keep your spirit strong, your mind clear, and your heart humble.
