October 29, 2026 — "Sammy talks to Arshdeep Maan"

The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 652 ON TODAY'S SHOW Arshdeep Maan, the singer behind Saun Lagge's climb up the countdown, joins Sammy from Barnala district in Punjab. Two years ago he was singing to his friends in the fields — no lessons, no training, a young man who would rather write than sing — until those friends made him do it for real; one of them became his director, and the first words he ever said into a microphone became the title of his album, Hazaare Ujde Baithe Ne, which he calls almost his own story: a boy in a village whose family won't let him sing or play and just wants him to settle down — that, he says, is how talent dies, and his ask is small: give a kid a year or two. College Di Canteen, the boy drinking tea in the field dreaming of a college canteen until his father calls him back to work. His advice to the next kid in the next village: practice, his own first hundred or two hundred songs went to waste; and if you love someone and can't say it, play them Saun Lagge. Sammy's Punjabi gets an apology on the way out. Nurse Laggi from the album goes into the conversation and Saun Lagge comes out of it, then Doyeeta Das Gupta's Artist Spotlight on Arjan Dhillon sets up his brand-new Said & Done, Priya Ragu's Finally follows, and Saun Lagge plays the show out after the closing remarks. The hour opens with Niyam's Tum Se Tum Tak, Tesher's Possession for Halloween season and Amrinder Gill and Jasmeen Akhtar's Coffee into Dr. Roy's Word On The Avenue; Jass Manak's Kante into Aashi Arora's preview of Monday's Leaders Creating Ruckus; Aditya Rikhari's Jaan-E-Jaan, Jasmine Sandlas's Pyaar — with a first mention of the ten year-end awards — Karan Aujla's Ashke from Aujla Season 1 and Farak's Taare. October 28, 2026 — "Sammy talks to Malvika"

The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 651 ON TODAY'S SHOW Malvika — the LA singer from Fullerton who took her work to India and is thriving there — calls in from Mumbai for the back half of the hour: how the work connects from Mumbai rather than LA, and the album she is about to drop, December Baby, out December 10. Her Quirky takes the show out of the conversation. The hour opens with Niyam's Tum Se Tum Tak and Talwiinder's Mangda Wapis Kyun on the eve of Painted Feelings — the album drops tomorrow — then Jasmine Sandlas's Pyaar into Dr. Roy's Word On The Avenue, which closes on the Pirelli Calendar's tribute to Raghu Rai, carried forward by his daughter Avani. Aditya Rikhari's Jaan-E-Jaan from Between Distances, Harsh Nussi's Gall Manlaa, Priya Ragu's Madras and Aanchal Tyagi's HISAAB fill the middle, and tomorrow's guest Arshdeep Maan gets a preview with Saun Lagge going into the interview. Doyeeta Das Gupta's Artist Spotlight on Tesher — Saskatchewan's own — sets up Possession in Halloween week, with Sammy's closing remarks on Malvika ahead of it and Jass Manak's Kante closing the show. October 27, 2026 — "Sammy talks to Kalki Koechlin about Her Song"

The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 650 ON TODAY'S SHOW Kalki Koechlin joins Sammy for the back half of the hour on Her Song, her first real comedy — an American film that flips thirty years of Indian cinema sending Indians abroad: an Indian star goes west to play a westerner going home. She is Olivia, a New York novelist who goes back to her grandmother's village in France and gets stuck there when the pandemic hits, the way her grandmother got stuck when the Nazis came — in World War II they ran out of writing paper, in the pandemic we ran out of toilet paper — and the director asked the French girl from Pondicherry to put an American accent on her French. Ten years since she and Sammy last crossed paths at the Indian Film Festival of LA; since then a child, and a book about it, The Elephant in the Womb, on the parts of pregnancy and postpartum nobody talks about. She wants to remake Piku in French, is still waiting for someone to offer her a kick-ass action movie, and is next up in Unearth on Amazon, a supernatural story told from a woman's point of view. Asked what she would tell the little girl in Pondicherry who kept hearing "but where are you really from," she said she felt like crying, then: a big hug, and be proud of your differences. The hour opens with Jass Manak's Kante and Niyam's Tum Se Tum Tak, then Hania Amir's Pablo into Dr. Roy's Word On The Avenue, Amaal Mallik and Arijit Singh's Yeh Awarapan into Neesh Riaz's preview of tonight's Garage Mahal, Maan Panu's I Met Her Again, Talwiinder's Mangda Wapis Kyun two days ahead of Painted Feelings, and MC Square's Long Way From Home into the conversation. Zeeshan Ali's Bandhe Zulfon Pe takes the show out of it; Doyeeta Das Gupta's Artist Spotlight on Vishal Mishra — rejected by nearly every audition before Indian Idol season 6 took him — sets up Toxic, his title track with Hanita Bhambri, then Jxggi's Knock Knock, Sammy's closing remarks on Kalki, and Jalwa E Jaanaan from Maati Season 2 to close. October 26, 2026 — "Sammy talks to Habiba Nosheen about The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony"

The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 649 ON TODAY'S SHOW A Monday built around a filmmaker. Habiba Nosheen — three Emmys, a Peabody, Columbia Journalism — joins Sammy for the long back half of the hour on The Gymnasts of Fisherman Colony, the film executive produced by Malala Yousafzai and Mariska Hargitay about Karen, Sonia and Anwara, three girls born in Pakistan who on paper don't exist — no ID, no public school, no public hospital — and who do cartwheels on the beach anyway. The nine-year-old from Lahore who threw a tantrum when she didn't land in Canada blonde, the refugee kid who grew up to win three Emmys, the film that found her through the same lawyer who helped bring her daughter home, and what she would tell that nine-year-old now: everything's going to be okay, be kinder to yourself. Out of the conversation comes a record nobody has heard yet — Eva B's Yeh Barhi Baat Hai, built from the girls' own words, faded early because it isn't out. Screenings Tuesday at the Laemmle Santa Monica and Wednesday at the Laemmle Glendale. The hour opens with the weekend's No1, Talwiinder's Mangda Wapis Kyun, three days ahead of the Painted Feelings album, then Niyam's Tum Se Tum Tak and Jass Manak's Kante. Dr. Roy has the Word On The Avenue, Harsh Nussi's Gall Manlaa leads into Meera Sharma's Mindful Minute of Sass, A.R. Rahman's Ravana Tandav from Ramayana — the film world-premieres in Los Angeles this week — sets up Daniel Johnson's UN News Report, and Raghav and Arjun's Jaadu Kaisa Hai takes the show into the interview. After Sammy's closing remarks on Habiba, Doyeeta Das Gupta's Artist Spotlight on Aditya Rikhari leads into his new Jaan-E-Jaan from Between Distances, Karan Aujla's Rap Killa from the just-released Aujla Season 1 EP follows, and Tesher's Possession closes the show. October 22, 2026 — "Sammy talks to Amaal Mallik, Part Two"

The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 647 ON TODAY'S SHOW Part two, and the business end of it. Amaal Mallik is back on the line from India for the back half of the hour, picking up Wednesday's AI thread — Hans Zimmer's synths, Kraftwerk behind their masks, credit the machine where you use it but call the session player when you can — and moving into what it is to be a composer in India: what a hit like Sooraj Dooba Hain or Mithoon's Tum Hi Ho actually pays its composer, ten or fifteen lakh up front and a publishing share that feels like being on payroll; the hundred-rupee song where ninety-five go to the label, two and a half to the writer and two and a half to the composer, halved again every time a label recreates it; the admission that the only reason he can earn a living is that he can sing, and his question about the composer who can't; why saying any of this is treated as a villainous job that has cost him films, and why he says it anyway, "like a warrior"; the label he started for the kids who can't get through the doors of Sony, Universal or Warner; and Sammy's famous question — what the 36-year-old says to the 16-year-old still standing at the Vishesh Films gate: hang in there, it gets better, beyond your wildest dreams. Amaal introduces Yeh Awarapan to America himself. Sammy's closing puts the two days together — the kid with a keyboard and no songs outside the Bhatts' gate, the surname everyone assumes opened it, the debut that tanked, the house and both cars gone in 2014, the call to his masi in New Zealand about a McDonald's or a gas station, Sooraj Dooba Hain nine months later, and twelve years and nearly 143 songs on, Yeh Awarapan, written with Rashmi Virag from a very dark place and presented by Mukesh Bhatt, No1 in the country — the gate, finally from the inside; twenty years to get in, and the first thing he does on the other side is hold it open. Next year, his first independent album, his name on the door. The music hour stays with his work: Kar Gayi Chull, his rebuild of Badshah and Fazilpuria's Chull; Jaan Hai Meri from Radhe Shyam; Tu Mera Nahi, his 2020 pop debut on his own vocal; Yeh Awarapan out of the conversation and Tu Mila To Haina to close. Dr. Roy has the Word On The Avenue, and Sammy plugs tonight's Rukus Avenue Radio lineup — Sabeen Faheem's Who Does She Think She Is at 5 and Ruby Basi at 6. Friday: the Weekly Top 20 Countdown. The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 646 ON TODAY'S SHOW The first two-day interview in the show's history begins. Amaal Mallik — the composer out of the Malik house, grandson of Sardar Malik, son of Daboo Malik, nephew of Anu Malik — calls in from India for part one of a conversation that runs the back forty minutes of the hour. Sammy sets up the human story before he arrives: a family with very deep expectations, and a word, nepotism, that gets thrown around far too easily. Then the story itself: the 16-year-old standing outside the Vishesh Films gate in Mumbai with a keyboard and no songs, the surname everyone assumes opened it, a debut that tanked, the family losing the house and both cars in 2014, the call to his masi in New Zealand about working at a McDonald's or a gas station — and nine months later, Sooraj Dooba Hain. Amaal on checking the streaming numbers on every release without letting them touch the art; on writing from his own friendships and heartbreaks so a song fits the film's narrative one hundred percent and still feels, to a stranger hearing it on the radio, like their own story; and a long, clear-eyed stretch on AI — Suno and ElevenLabs will give you back whatever you prompt, but no software can sit through 35 years of pain or a father's highs and lows, any musician is better than AI, and the royalty question is still unsolved from India to the DSPs — capped by the song he ideated on a laptop from a hospital bed, his brother Armaan singing the guide vocal, every AI part swapped for live musicians once the shoot wrapped. The hour opens with his music: Baari Baari, the 2025 Punjabi record with Armaan Malik, Tu Mila To Haina with Arijit Singh from De De Pyaar De, and Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar with Armaan Malik and Palak Muchhal from Sanam Re; Subah Subah from Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety takes the show out. Dr. Roy has the Word On The Avenue. Tomorrow, part two: the industry, the label he started for the kids who can't get into Sony's lobby, and what he would tell the 16-year-old who used to stand outside the studios. October 20, 2026 — "Sammy talks to Nihaarika"

The Bridge is available on the iHeart Radio app Episode 645 ON TODAY'S SHOW Nihaarika joins Sammy from Delhi, late on a Tuesday night her time, for the back half of the hour — the artist who was signed to Sony Music India early, had the platform before she knew who she was, and walked away when the contract ended to go independent, not against labels but for herself. A girl from UP, from a family of doctors and engineers where nobody knew a thing about music, who wrote Urdu Me Geeta alone in her room, and whose advice to a young girl in Delhi who wants to be her is "don't be like me, be yourself." The hour opens with Arshdeep Maan's Saun Lagge, fresh off its No10 debut on the weekend count, then Arijit Singh's Chann from Udta Teer, the Sachin-Jigar soundtrack ahead of Friday's release, and Talwiinder's Mangda Wapis Kyun, nine days out from Painted Feelings. Nijjar's Bari follows the Word On The Avenue, Neesh previews tonight's Garage Mahal, and Gur Sidhu and Kaptaan's Breezy leads into Yeh Awarapan, Amaal Mallik's title track with Arijit Singh, as Sammy sets up the first two-day interview in the show's history — Amaal Mallik on Wednesday and Thursday. Rawme Hooda's Pump Up and Comeback, Bali and Nihaarika's record together, take the show into the conversation, and her own Urdu Me Geeta follows it out. Doyeeta Das Gupta's Artist Spotlight on Pritam — the geology graduate who dropped a master's for a sound-recording course at FTII Pune — sets up Tu Hi Disda with his longtime collaborator Arijit Singh, and MC Square's Long Way From Home closes the show. Dr. Roy has the Word On The Avenue, Neesh previews his show, and Sammy closes with his remarks on Nihaarika.
