Showdown / Deep Dive: Apple Pencil vs Samsung SPen (missing) Why I Low-Key Hope Apple Brings Apple Pencil Support to Its First Foldable

Send us a text Samsung did the mistake of confusing an engineering achievement with a strategic purpose by pursuing device thinness as the central KPI.  Why I low-key hope Apple incorporates the Apple Pencil in its first iteration of its foldable device". First this would give Samsung a truly memorable lesson about business strategy, I.e. when you have an advantage, a moat in business, it is crucial to protect it. Number two, listen to your customers. Samsung’s headstrong approach to thinness has long disregarded customers top three requests, 1 and 2, arguably being larger battery and flagship level cameras, and third spen functionality and being embedded in the phone. While the Z Fold 7 has in part addressed the cameras, but still limited likely to how things the device is, the battery remains relatively small and unchanged from multiple generations. And when it comes to the spen, Samsung has gone backward both in the Z Fold 7 and more surprisingly in its Z Tri-Fold which is now a tablet without stylus... something Google did with its recent Pixel tablet and we all know where that is... one iteration and no new models have been released since. Apple, if it brings an optimized battery, the usual strong cameras it is known for and has a degree of Apple Pencil integration, it could well completely overrun Samsung’s moat and take control of the foldable category upon release... effectively leaving Samsung to retreat into Tri-fold territory having squandered its foldable opportunities in pursuit of technical pursuit in the shape of thinness instead of answering customers requests. For once Apple could beat Samsung in all aspects: a more sophisticated device, ensuring customers get what they want, innovate ahead and beyond Samsung. Even Samsung and Android tech die-hard fans, may well have to concede and even switch to Apple’s foldable.
