In this episode of The Resident Table, our team of elite athletes and coach sit down to explore the complex relationship between data and performance. From power meters to heart rate variability, VO2 max tests to sleep tracking, we share candid insights on how data can drive success—or distract from it. S1 E4: Risk: The Price of Greatness

In this episode, the team explores the uncomfortable, unpredictable, and undeniably essential role of risk in the pursuit of greatness. From daring equipment changes before the Paralympics, to gut-check moments mid-race, to emotional risks like believing you can win it all—this conversation pulls back the curtain on the hard choices behind elite performance. You’ll hear real stories of triumph, tactical mistakes, crashes, comebacks, and the mental fortitude it takes to bet on yourself. Coach Derek and the athletes reflect on the importance of risk in both training and racing, the fear of failure, and how growth only happens outside your comfort zone. S1 E3: Shenanigans, Sh*t Talk, and the Stuff That Makes It All Worth It

In this episode, we’re getting real about what makes a team thrive—not medals, not training blocks—but connection, laughter, and the kind of dark humor that gets you through the hardest days. From spontaneous jokes on the pool deck to long van rides, prank emails, white elephant gift fails, and team bonding over burritos and broken prosthetics, we’re sharing the stories that really built the culture behind Team USA Para. We talk about the role of humor in navigating disability, failure, and high-stakes performance, and why fun wasn’t a distraction—it was the glue that held us together. Whether it’s being the “glimmer of hope” after a brutal workout, calling each other out with love, or joking about the ridiculous frustrations of adaptive sport, this episode is a celebration of the joy behind the grind. S1 E1: Welcome to the Resident Table

Before it was a podcast, The Resident Table was exactly that—a literal table in the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center cafeteria where a group of para-athletes gathered after grueling swim sets to swap stories, decompress, and build something bigger than themselves. In this premiere episode, we bring you back to where it all began. You’ll meet the original Resident Team—an unlikely group of athletes from across the country (and world), each with their own path to elite sport. Guided by coach Derek Williamson, this group came together to form one of the most successful programs in Paralympic triathlon history. But it wasn’t just medals and race results that defined them—it was the culture, the camaraderie, and the way they pulled each other forward in and out of the pool. From cross-country moves with young kids in tow, to awkward first workouts, hilarious roommate stories, and deeply personal moments of growth, this is the untold origin story of a team that became a chosen family. If you’ve ever wondered what high performance really looks like—especially when it’s fueled by inclusion, resilience, and joy—this episode sets the tone for everything to come. Pull up a chair, grab a coffee, and take your seat at The Resident Table. Thanks for pulling up a chair at The Resident Table.
