    EP 21: The Promise/Dream of 10 Years

    10 YEARS. ONE PROMISE. ONE DREAM. Ten years ago, I made a promise to myself: one day, I would play semi-pro water polo. At the time, I had no idea what the next ten years would look like. I didn’t know how much I would grow, how much I would lose, how many times I would question whether I should keep going, or just how much this sport would become a part of who I am. But somehow, after a decade of dreaming, setbacks, growth, and a whole lot of stubbornness… I finally found myself standing on the edge of fulfilling that promise. In this episode of The Random Muses of JoJo, I’m talking about the journey that brought me here — from the girl who made that promise ten years ago, to the person who showed up that weekend determined to finally make it real. I’m talking about the mindset going into that weekend, the emotions that came with actually stepping into the moment I had imagined for so long, what it felt like to realize “I actually did it,” and the strange feeling of reaching a dream you’ve carried for a decade. Because sometimes the hardest part of achieving a dream isn’t getting there. It’s figuring out who you are once you finally do. So… what happens next? That’s the question I’m sitting with now. This is a story about water polo, but it’s also about promises, perseverance, identity, letting yourself dream again, and learning that the end of one chapter doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the story. Maybe it’s just the beginning of something else. Welcome back to The Random Muses of JoJo. ☀️ 10 years ago, I made myself a promise.
