🎙️ The Hidden Danger of God's Blessings | Isaiah 17–24

⚠️ What if the greatest threat to your faith isn't hardship—but blessing? When life falls apart, we often run to God. But when life is comfortable, the bills are paid, we're healthy, and everything seems to be going our way... that's when we're tempted to forget Him. In Isaiah 17–24, nation after nation discovers what happens when people begin trusting their prosperity, strength, governments, military power, and themselves instead of the God who gave them everything. The problem underneath it all? Pride. In this episode of Simple Discipleship, Andy Price, Donald Leroy, Sam Mullins, and Mike Forbus tackle eight chapters of Isaiah and uncover a warning that's remarkably relevant for followers of Jesus today.  They discuss: 🙏 Why blessings can actually cause us to drift from God🌊 Why nobody accidentally “drifts” toward holiness💰 The danger of trusting wealth, success, nations, or ourselves⚠️ Why God sometimes removes our false security❤️ How Christians should view people we consider enemies🌎 Why no person or nation is beyond God's ability to redeem📖 Why knowing God's Word isn't enough—we must do what it says⚖️ The reality of coming judgment✝️ Why Jesus is our only lasting hope One of the most powerful observations in the conversation is simple: “Everything that looks permanent isn't.” Money disappears. Health fades. Governments change. Nations rise and fall. Success doesn't last. And even the things we consider blessings can become idols when we forget the One who provided them. Isaiah 17 gives the devastating diagnosis: “You have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold.” That's the danger. Spiritual drifting rarely feels dramatic. You simply become comfortable floating with the current until one day you realize how far you've moved from the Source.  But Isaiah doesn't leave us without hope. Even among passages of judgment, God continues calling people back to Himself. He disciplines, but He also heals. He warns, but He also offers salvation. And ultimately, these chapters point us toward the only King and Kingdom that will remain: Jesus Christ. Maybe the question isn't simply: “Has God blessed me?” Maybe it's: Don't wait for everything to fall apart before turning back to Him. While there is light, look to Jesus. Because when everything else has been shaken... “The LORD of hosts will reign.” 🌱 FREE DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCESVisit simplediscipleship.org for devotionals, Bible study resources, episode archives, and tools to help you grow as a follower of Jesus. 🎥 WATCH & SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBEyoutube.com/@SimpleDiscipleship If this episode challenges you, share it with someone who wants to grow deeper in their walk with Christ. #SimpleDiscipleship #Isaiah #Isaiah17 #BibleStudy #JesusChrist #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #Discipleship #BibleTeaching #FollowJesus #TrustGod #Faith #Pride #SpiritualGrowth #Bible #GodsWord #Christianity #WalkWithGod #Jesus #FaithOverFear “Have God's blessings caused me to forget God?”

Judgment Is Coming... But God Made a Way Out | Isaiah 15–16

⚠️ What if one of the most uncomfortable truths in the Bible is also the reason the Gospel is such incredibly good news? Judgment is real. We don't talk about it much anymore. But Isaiah does—and so does Jesus. Isaiah 15–16 describes devastating judgment coming upon Moab. Cities fall. People mourn. Security disappears. Pride is exposed. But hidden inside these difficult chapters is something remarkable: ❤️ God isn't celebrating. His heart is breaking. God takes no pleasure in judgment. Even while warning Moab of what is coming, He points toward mercy, refuge, and ultimately a throne established through the line of David—a promise that points us directly toward Jesus Christ. In this episode of Simple Discipleship, Andy Price, Mike Forbus, and Charles Burnett wrestle with some questions Christians cannot afford to ignore: 🔥 Is God's judgment really coming? ✝️ If there's no judgment, why do we need a Savior? ⚖️ What's the difference between God's judgment and God's justice? ❤️ How can a loving God judge sin? 👑 How does Isaiah 16 point forward to Jesus hundreds of years before His birth? ⚠️ Why is pride so spiritually dangerous? 🏠 What are you trusting to give you security? 🕊️ Where can we find real peace when everything else is temporary? And perhaps most importantly: If judgment is coming, is there a way out? Yes. His name is Jesus. Your money is temporary. Your health is temporary. Your relationships are temporary. Nations are temporary. Even the security you feel today is temporary. Jesus Christ is the only refuge that lasts. God's warning of judgment isn't evidence that He doesn't love us. His warning is evidence that He does. He gives us time. He calls us to repentance. He offers mercy. And He has already provided the Savior. The question is: 🙏 If you've been putting off following Christ, don't willfully forget what God has said. Today is the day to turn to Him. 📖 Read Along: Isaiah 15–16 🌱 FREE DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES Visit https://simplediscipleship.org for devotionals, Bible study resources, episode archives, and practical tools to help you grow as a follower of Jesus. 🎥 WATCH & SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBE youtube.com/@SimpleDiscipleship If this conversation challenges or encourages you, share it with someone who needs to hear the hope of the Gospel. Every Kingdom Falls... Except God's | Isaiah 13–14

🏛️ Every empire rises. Every empire falls. But one Kingdom will stand forever. Isaiah 13–14 isn't just about ancient Babylon. It's about every system that exalts itself against God—and every heart tempted to trust in pride, wealth, power, or earthly security instead of Christ. More than 700 years before Jesus was born, Isaiah prophesied the rise and fall of Babylon before it became the world's greatest empire. His message wasn't just for Judah—it still speaks powerfully to us today.  In this episode of Simple Discipleship, Andy Price, Mike Forbis, Sam Mullins, and Charles Burnett explore one of Scripture's most remarkable prophecies and explain why Isaiah's warning is just as relevant in the twenty-first century. Together they discuss: 🏛️ Why Babylon represents more than one ancient nation 👑 The danger of pride and self-sufficiency 💰 Why wealth, power, and success can become idols ⚖️ How God uses nations—and still judges them 😈 The fall of Lucifer and the deception of Satan 🌍 Why every earthly kingdom eventually collapses 📖 How Isaiah connects directly to Revelation 18 🙌 Why Christians should live with hope instead of fear One truth echoes throughout the conversation: The kingdoms of this world are temporary. The Kingdom of God is eternal. No government… No economy… No empire… No political movement… No worldly success… will last forever. Only Jesus Christ and His Kingdom endure forever. That's why our hope isn't in Babylon. Our hope is in the King who conquered death. Stop Looking Everywhere Except God | Isaiah 8

Stop Looking Everywhere Except God | Isaiah 8 Why do we turn to everything except God when life gets hard? That's exactly what Isaiah 8 confronts. As Judah faces invasion, uncertainty, and fear, God repeatedly calls His people back to Himself. Instead of trusting His Word, they chase political solutions, human wisdom, conspiracy theories, false spiritual voices, and their own strength. Sound familiar? In this episode of Simple Discipleship, Andy Price, Mike Forbis, Sam Mullins, and Charles Burnett unpack one of Isaiah's most relevant chapters and show why its message speaks directly to our generation. Together they discuss: ✨ Why fear is often a symptom of misplaced faith📖 What it really means to fear the Lord🌊 The powerful picture of waters rising "only to the neck"💡 Why people living in darkness desperately need the Light of Christ🛡️ How trusting God's Word brings peace in uncertain times⚠️ The danger of looking everywhere except God for answers❤️ Why there is always hope because Immanuel—God with us—has come🙌 The beautiful promise that God always preserves a faithful remnant One statement from this conversation stands above the rest: The waters may rise to your neck... but they're always under Jesus' feet. No matter what you're facing today—fear, uncertainty, anxiety, suffering, or doubt—Isaiah 8 reminds us that God has never lost control. When the world says panic... Jesus says, "Trust Me." Trusting God When Life Falls Apart Isaiah 7: Faith or Fear?

What do you do when life feels like it's falling apart? Isaiah 7 brings us to King Ahaz, a ruler facing an overwhelming military crisis. Instead of trusting God, he relies on his own plan—and the consequences are lasting. His story forces each of us to answer a difficult question: When fear comes, will we choose faith or self-reliance? In this episode of Simple Discipleship, Andy Price, Mike Forbis, Sam Mullins, and Charles Burnett unpack one of Isaiah's most practical chapters and explore how it speaks directly into the fears we face every day. Together they discuss: • Why fear is one of Satan's greatest weapons• How self-reliance quietly replaces faith• Why we often ask God to bless our plans instead of following His• The powerful command: "If you do not stand firm in faith, you will not stand at all."• The incredible prophecy of Immanuel—God With Us• Why God's Word is more trustworthy than our feelings or circumstances• How daily Bible reading builds courage before the crisis arrives• Why God's discipline is evidence of His love—not His rejection One of the biggest takeaways from this conversation is that fear always forces a choice. It will either drive us deeper into faith or push us toward self-reliance. God doesn't promise a life without battles. He promises His presence in the middle of them. Key Verse "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." — Isaiah 7:9 📖 Read along with us in Isaiah Chapter 7. 🌱 Free Bible Study Resources Visit https://simplediscipleship.org for free discipleship training, Bible reading guides, devotionals, and resources to help you start a Bible reading group in your home, church, workplace, or community. 🎥 Subscribe on YouTube:https://youtube.com/@SimpleDiscipleship #Isaiah #Isaiah7 #SimpleDiscipleship #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #FaithOverFear #TrustGod #BibleReading #ChristianLiving #Discipleship #JesusChrist #Immanuel #GodWithUs #HolySpirit #Scripture #WalkWithGod #DailyBibleReading #ChristianLeadership #Faith #Fear

Isaiah 6: Holy God, Broken People, Amazing Grace

What happens when an ordinary man comes face-to-face with the holiness of God? Isaiah 6 contains one of the most powerful encounters in all of Scripture. As King Uzziah dies and uncertainty grips the nation, Isaiah is given a breathtaking vision of God's throne. The seraphim cry, "Holy, Holy, Holy," and Isaiah suddenly realizes the truth about himself: "Woe is me, for I am undone." In this episode, Andy Price, Mike Forbis, Sam Mullins, and Charles Burnett explore one of the greatest chapters in the Bible and answer questions every believer must face: • Why does God often meet us in seasons of loss? • What does it really mean that God is holy? • Why must we first recognize our own sin before we can understand grace? • How does Isaiah 6 point directly to Jesus and the Gospel? • What happens when we continually reject God's truth? • What does genuine repentance actually look like? • What did Isaiah mean when he answered, "Here am I. Send me." • How long are we called to faithfully serve Christ? This conversation reminds us that Christianity isn't about religion—it's about being transformed by the holiness of God, cleansed by His grace, and sent into the world with His message. If you've ever wondered why Isaiah 6 is one of the most quoted passages in the New Testament, this episode will deepen your understanding of God's character, your need for a Savior, and your calling as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Key Verse: "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'" — Isaiah 6:8 📖 Read along with us in Isaiah Chapter 6. 🌱 Free Bible Study Resources Visit https://simplediscipleship.org to download our free discipleship training materials, Bible reading guides, and resources to help you start a Bible reading group in your home, church, or community. #Isaiah #Isaiah6 #BibleStudy #SimpleDiscipleship #ChristianPodcast #Jesus #HolinessOfGod #AmazingGrace #Repentance #Gospel #ChristianLiving #Faith #Discipleship #HolySpirit #BibleReading #ChristianLeadership #Scripture #WalkWithGod #DailyBibleReading #HereAmISendMe

Isaiah 3: When God Removes What We Trust

In Isaiah 3, God issues a sobering warning to His people: when we place our trust in politics, wealth, status, beauty, possessions, or human leadership instead of Him, those things can become idols. In this powerful discussion, Andy Price, Mike Forbis, Sam Mullins, and special guest Christian Saliba explore how Isaiah's message speaks directly to our culture today. From the collapse of leadership and the rise of pride to the dangers of self-reliance and spiritual drift, Isaiah reminds us that God is less concerned with our outward success and more concerned with our hearts. The conversation tackles difficult questions: • Why does God remove the things we depend on?• What happens when a society rejects God's design?• Is prosperity always a sign of blessing?• How do pride, comfort, and success become forms of bondage?• Why do we drift from God when life is going well?• What does true repentance look like?• How does Jesus set us free from the slavery of sin, shame, and pride? Most importantly, this episode points us to the hope of the Gospel: the penalty for our sin was paid at Calvary, and through Christ we can experience freedom, restoration, and daily renewal. If you've ever wondered whether ancient prophecy still speaks to modern life, Isaiah 3 will challenge you, encourage you, and call you back to a deeper relationship with God. 🔥 Key Takeaway:"The things we trust more than God often become the very things that enslave us." 📖 Read Along:Isaiah Chapter 3 🌱 Free Bible Study Resources:https://simplediscipleship.org 📥 Download our free discipleship training materials and learn how to start a Bible reading group in your home, church, workplace, or community. #Isaiah #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #SimpleDiscipleship #Faith #Discipleship #JesusChrist #ChristianLiving #BibleReading #ChristianLeadership #SpiritualGrowth #Repentance #Gospel #ChristianMen #Christianity #Scripture #DailyBibleReading #Isaiah3 #WalkWithGod #HolySpirit
