    Mean Girl Movies - Do You Even Binge? Ep 53 This week, we’re pulling back the curtain on Mean Girl movies to explore how hollywood viewed the high school clique genre, from being the bully to being bullied and the evolution of becoming the "it girl." The Lineup:  Heathers (1989): Written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann, this film follows four popular girls and the outcasts caught in their orbit, exploring the grim reality of high school social hierarchy.  Jawbreaker (1999): Written and directed by Darren Stein, this dark comedy focuses on an exclusive clique of socialites attempting to cover up an accidental murder during a birthday prank.  Mean Girls (2004): Written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters (brother of Heathers writer Daniel Waters), this film adapts the nonfiction book Queen Bees and Wannabes into a quintessential exploration of cliques and bullying.  In this episode:  Heathers: Winona Ryder’s struggle as Veronica, her relationship with the mysterious JD, the rise of Heather Duke, and the unintended consequences of their plan for retribution.  Jawbreaker: The "Four Flawless Ones," the accidental death of Liz, and how outcast Fern Mayo is transformed into the popular "Vylette" as part of a cover-up, leading to internal conflict and power struggles within the group.  Mean Girls: The journey of Cady, a formerly homeschooled teen, as she navigates the complex social rules of the Plastics, the influence of outcasts Janis and Damian, the impact of the "Burn Book," and the eventual fallout of her social infiltration. The Lineup: Redux Redux: A mind-melting sci-fi thriller about a mother fracturing reality and jumping through the multiverse to track down and repeatedly execute the man who killed her daughter. Operation Taco Gary’s: A chaotic, conspiracy-fueled comedy where an off-the-meds brother drags his sibling on a wild road trip involving squid people metropolis theories, gun-safety mishaps, and an official welcome to a very strange establishment. Sarah’s Oil: The 2025 adaptation inspired by the incredible true story of Sarah Rector, who became one of the nation's first female African American millionaires at just eleven years old. Balls Up: A rowdy, chaotic comedy starring Mark Wahlberg and Benjamin Bratt as corporate outcasts who accidentally tank a high stakes marketing campaign for a "unique" product, lose their jobs, and head to the World Cup anyway only to get tangled up with a dangerous cartel and a very bizarre character played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
