    Creativity & Purpose with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels

    In this legendary episode of Teach Me Something, hosts DJ Prostyle and Penny Dellas welcome Darryl McDaniels — better known to the world as DMC, founding member of Run-DMC, one of the most influential groups in hip-hop history.Born in New York City and raised in Hollis, Queens, Darryl helped transform rap music into a global cultural force. As one-third of Run-DMC, he helped break barriers as part of the first rap group to achieve gold and platinum status, the first rap group on MTV, and the first rap group on the cover of Rolling Stone. Run-DMC’s influence on music, fashion, and pop culture remains immeasurable, with milestones including their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2009 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.Beyond music, DMC is also an author, speaker, philanthropist, and creative force. He co-founded The Felix Organization, which supports children in foster care, launched Darryl Makes Comics, and has used his platform to advocate for adoption awareness, mental health, and purpose-driven living.
