Jesus in Your Weekend - Walk in Step with the Spirit

Send us Fan Mail Jesus in Your Weekend - Walk in Step with the Spirit Who—or what—is directing your steps each day? The Christian life was never meant to be lived in our own strength. God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us, strengthen us, convict us, and help us become more like Jesus. In this episode of Jesus in Your Weekend, we turn to Galatians 5:16 and 25 and explore what it means to walk by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit in the ordinary moments of everyday life. When our natural reaction says, “Get even,” the Spirit says, “Forgive.” When pride says, “Make sure they know you were right,” the Spirit says, “Be humble.” When fear says, “Stay where it’s comfortable,” the Spirit may be saying, “Trust Me and take the next step.” Walking with the Spirit doesn’t mean we’ll never stumble. It means we keep turning back to Jesus—listening, trusting, and following Him one faithful step at a time. As you head into the weekend, consider this simple prayer: “Holy Spirit, guide my steps today.”  Key Scripture: Galatians 5:16, 25 Listen for His leading. Trust His direction. And when He shows you the next step—take it. Encounter Him – Experience Change. This episode of The Jesus Effect was written and hosted by me, Steve McLane. Summer Reflections - Episode 6: Jesus the Greatest News Ever Told

Send us Fan Mail Summer Reflections - Episode 6: Jesus the Greatest News Ever Told  John 20:30–31 The Gospel isn’t good advice—it’s Good News about Jesus. We hear the word Gospel often, but have we stopped to consider what it really means? The Gospel tells us who Jesus is, why He came, what He did, why it matters, and how we can respond to Him. Jesus Christ is more than a great teacher or a good man. He is the Son of God—the promised Messiah and Savior of the world. He came to seek and save the lost. He willingly gave His life on the cross for our sins. He rose from the grave. And because He lives, everyone who places their faith in Him can receive forgiveness, new life, and eternal hope. But the Gospel isn’t only important on the day we come to Christ. It changes how we live every day. Because of Jesus, we have hope when life is difficult, peace when life is uncertain, forgiveness when we fail, purpose for today, and the promise of eternity with Him. Maybe you’ve heard about Jesus your entire life. But have you trusted Him? The Gospel isn’t simply information to believe—it’s an invitation to receive. Join me for Episode 6 of Summer Reflections as we return to the heart of our faith and reflect on the greatest news the world has ever heard: Jesus Christ.  Listen to The Jesus Effect on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, or your favorite podcast platform. Jesus in Your Weekend - The Door is Open Today

Send us Fan Mail The Jesus Effect — Jesus in Your Weekend The Door Is Open Today 2 Corinthians 6:2 “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” We often tell ourselves there will be more time. Someday I’ll get serious about God. Someday I’ll surrender. Someday I’ll have that conversation. Someday I’ll respond. But Scripture continually brings us back to one word: Today. In this episode of Jesus in Your Weekend, we reflect on the urgency—and the incredible hope—of the Gospel. Jesus warns us not to assume we have tomorrow, but He also gives us wonderful news: The door is open today. Grace is available today. Forgiveness is available today. Salvation is available today. And Jesus doesn’t simply point us toward the door. In John 10:9, He tells us: “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved.” If you’ve never placed your faith in Jesus Christ, don’t put off until tomorrow what God may be calling you to do today. And if you already know Jesus, ask yourself: Who has God placed in my life who needs to hear about Him? Maybe this weekend is an opportunity to pray for someone, invite someone to church, share your faith, or simply tell someone what Jesus has done in your life. Not an urgency driven by panic. An urgency driven by love. Because today matters. Eternity matters. And people matter to Jesus.  Listen to The Door Is Open Today on The Jesus Effect — Jesus in Your Weekend. Summer Reflections - Episode 5: Walking by Faith Every Day

Send us Fan Mail Summer Reflections – Episode 5 Jesus: Walking by Faith Every Day 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Faith isn’t just something we practice on Sunday. It’s the way Jesus calls us to live every day. When Monday arrives, responsibilities return, decisions have to be made, and life doesn’t always go according to plan. That’s where faith becomes more than something we believe—it becomes the way we walk. In Episode 5 of our Summer Reflections series, we reflect on what it means to trust God one step at a time, even when we can’t see the entire path ahead. Walking by faith often happens in the ordinary moments: choosing patience, showing kindness, making the right decision when no one is watching, forgiving someone who has hurt us, or simply trusting God with the next step. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the One who walks with you today. Faith isn’t just for Sunday—it’s the way we live every day. Whatever you’re facing, keep walking. Keep trusting. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Encounter Him • Experience Change  Listen to The Jesus Effect on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and your favorite podcast platform. Jesus in Your Weekend: Be Quick to Listen

Send us Fan Mail Jesus in Your Weekend Be Quick to Listen - James 1:19 In a world where everyone seems eager to speak, God calls us to something different—to listen first. In this episode of Jesus in Your Weekend, we’ll reflect on James 1:19 and discover why being “quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry” is more than good advice—it’s a reflection of the heart of Jesus. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus took time to listen. He cared for people, understood their needs, and responded with grace and compassion. As His followers, we’re called to do the same. As you prepare for the weekend, ask God to help you slow down, truly hear those around you, and let your conversations reflect the love, patience, and wisdom of Christ. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone isn’t the perfect answer—it’s the willingness to listen. Key Scripture: James 1:19 Theme: Listening Like Jesus in a World That Loves to Talk  This weekend, may your words be filled with grace, your heart with patience, and your ears open to those God places in your path. Summer Reflections – Episode 4: Stop Hiding

Send us Fan Mail Summer Reflections – Episode 4: Stop Hiding  Genesis 3:8–10 From the very beginning, sin caused people to hide from God. Adam and Eve heard the Lord walking in the garden and, instead of running to Him, they hid among the trees. Have you ever found yourself doing the same? Maybe not physically—but spiritually. Perhaps you’ve allowed fear, guilt, shame, disappointment, or failure to create distance between you and God. The good news is this: God is still pursuing us. In this episode of Summer Reflections, we’ll discover that God isn’t looking for us so He can condemn us. He’s calling us so He can restore us. We’ll reflect on the powerful truth that surrender—not striving—is the pathway to freedom, and we’ll be reminded that through Jesus Christ, there is always hope, always grace, and always a way back to the Father. Adam hid among the trees because of his sin. Jesus willingly went to a tree—the cross—so that we would never have to hide from God again. If you’ve been carrying guilt, shame, or the weight of past failures, this episode is an invitation to step out of hiding and experience the restoring love of Jesus. Key Scripture: Genesis 3:8–10 Theme: The Enemy Wants You to Hide. Jesus Invites You to Surrender.  Summer Reflections is a special seasonal series from The Jesus Effect, where we slow down, open God’s Word together, and spend time reflecting on Jesus—because the more we know Him, the more our lives begin to reflect Him. But in the middle of it all, Jesus offers us a simple invitation: “Come and spend time with Me.” In this episode of Summer Reflections, we step into the home of Mary and Martha and discover that while Martha was busy serving, Mary chose “the better part”—sitting at the feet of Jesus and listening to His voice.
