    The Band BONNY- Episode 7

From radio silence on a camping trip to performing on stages across New York City! BONNY is a fresh retro duo reviving the spirit of rock bands with grit, groove, and heart. With co-lead vocalists bringing that timeless dynamic back to the forefront, BONNY blends folky warmth with punchy rock flare that feels nostalgic, vintage, and homely. As a three-piece, they talk about how, though a smaller group, it keeps everything raw, by distributing not only energy but responsibility equally and sonically. Inspired by legends like Patti Smith, Rush, and Fleetwood Mac, they embrace old-school studio recording techniques and then mix it in a way that feels fresh and modern. There’s an unspoken communication between them built on deep trust, spontaneity, and the freedom to jam together vulnerably, which I really admire. We also dive into: What it means to build a “patchwork” career as multi-hyphenate artists How they handle time management and disagreements as a band that also lives together Their favorite venues and how to secure gigs Their songwriting process, including their debut single, “What Are You Doing?” Their plans for the future as a team. Nya Etienne, Creative Entrepreneur, Media Strategist, Content Creator: Episode 4

On this episode of What’s The Rate? we’re pulling back the curtain that covers the real numbers and opportunity behind content creation and brand deals. We have Nya Etienne, a true multi hyphenate, talking about her experience working in media and being a true entrepreneur. We discuss: - Democratizing creative careers through the accessibility of content creation Understanding your purpose outside of social media in order to bring something unique to it. - Influencers landing political campaigns - The pool of content creation and influencer marketing for people of color is NOT oversaturated. In fact we need more to add more variety to the spectrum of representation and examples of cultural multidimensionality. - Virality and vanity metrics are dead, people want actual engagement and in person turn out!!!! - The NUMBERS behind these brand deals. The rates some content creators will accept, and the rates that some won’t. And how to ask for the rate you deserve as a content creator of color. (This was crazy) - Breaking down your metrics into your community, and getting into how and why they are impacted by your content. - Brands now value in person events and real life engagement over follower counts. Interviewing celebrities on the red carpet and what that process looks like - Sharing your wins in practice for you! And can lead you to another opportunity! SUBCRIBE!!!! Alex Sanchez- International Beatbox Champion/ Dancer/ Multidisciplinary Artist: Episode 2

International beatboxing champion Alex Sanchez dives into the mechanics of beatboxing and how to cultivate a successful beatboxing career! With beatboxing being a niche yet super populated community, crafting a career as a beatboxer is not one commonly spelled out for one to follow. As an interdisciplinary artist, Alex also discusses his passionate relationship with dance, being influenced by Michael Jackson, and what drives him as an educator. He speaks about maintaining boundaries when crafting movement and placing it onto other bodies, the healthy mental habits he plants into the minds of his students, and also gets into some reflection in terms of feeling personally satisfied with his career thus far. Alex generously discloses his experience with making himself more digestible for his peers in the past, but consciously reflecting on such and moving forward accepting his greatness.  Furthermore, we touch on time management as a successful multidisciplinary artist, being the brand AND the manager, and creating a schedule for yourself. I hope this vulnerability and humility makes someone out there feel seen! SUBSCRIBE!
