    Matthew 1:18-25 — The Saviour Who Came to Save His People From Their Sins

    In this sermon, preached on the Lord’s Day just preceding Christmas, Rev. James Khongsai expounds Matthew 1:18–25, directing us to the heart of the gospel: Jesus Christ came into the world to save His people from their sins.     Matthew 1:22-23 — Called Immanuel

    What does it mean that Jesus Christ is called Immanuel — God with us? In this sermon, Ruling Elder Aaron Vanderhorst expounds Matthew 1:22–23 in light of Isaiah 7, exploring the biblical and redemptive significance of Immanuel. Though the name itself is not frequently used by the apostles, this message demonstrates how Christ is revealed as Immanuel throughout the whole of Scripture, from beginning to end. Organized around three themes: Precious Scriptures, Precious Name, and Precious Communion, the sermon sets forth the divinity of Christ and the glory of His incarnation. In Jesus Christ, God and man are perfectly reconciled, as the eternal Son unites true Godhead and true manhood in one Person for our salvation.
