    It Depends on YOUR Dogs

In this video: The specifics of your pet matters -- I was discussing a recipe / feeding protocol with a client this week and the diet was significantly lower than they expected in protein. How often are we hearing even for humans -- increase your protein! Even I suggest in my basic nutrition information that the % of protein in a dog's meal should be around 60-75% -- some dogs are almost 100% in the 80/10/10 diets. But if your dog has been diagnosed with CKD -- low(er) protein, perhaps even quite low or now to begin the inclusion of plant protein may need to be considered. Same is true in the Cx client -- we may want to move to a low methionine diet -- and that means more plants. And yet, you often here me say dogs shouldn't have vegetarian or vegan diets -- they are carnivores. And they are. So now what -- IT DEPENDS. We have to look at the dog that stands before us and make decisions an changes accordingly. And the process might not the the "norm" that's being promoted -- because your dog is now in an abnormal state. This is why understanding the dog, breed, age, weight, food and vax history, emotional history, product and supplement use, lab results, etc So please dig a little deeper in your questions -- and any answers you may be giving others. Yes, there are basic principles for the average healthy dog to follow - but it can shift on you when something individual happens.
