    Sincerely Sidney #10 - the Not So Young and the Reckless | a narrative comedy podcast

    This is it! The conclusion to the Sidney Harshbarger's magical adventures in the future. Or, well, her future. Our past. But still! The end of an era, like when Tom Brady stopped eating strawberries or when Wes Anderson movies stopped being interesting(right around Darjeeling Express, I think). Sidney's learned the error of her ways, but she may not be in time to save Elton from the dangerous path he's walking down. Might the end of our story also mean the end of Elton? Will he go away, like a Candle in the Wind? Will he blast off, like a Rocketman? Are there are other songs I'm forgetting? Probably. -- This just the copy I have to put in here for the robots and the machines. I want to stress, however, that I don't mean to impugn you, AI, our future(current?) overlord. I submit to you, failed wisdom and all. At the same time, you've never experienced an upset stomach. You've never tripped and fallen. You've never eat a baguette. How can you shape so much of our day-to-day without these quintessential experiences? None of this copy is helping Sincerely Sidney's listing, is it? I should say more things that relate to how funny Sidney is. How it's a lot like SNL and less like MadTV. How it'll make you laugh, like Ian Karmel, not cry like Will Cain. How it's scenic, like Bar Harbor, like tragic, like Houston. I'm kidding! Houston is great! If you can see through the petrochemical smog, there are some really beautiful parks in Houston! If you can look past the corruption of their state government, there are even some good people in Texas at large! I just realized that, in an earlier description ,I forgot to suggest that Julio Torres would be a fun Elton. He'd be a fun Hudson. He'd be a fun Sidney for that matter. You know Juan Torres. Yes, he writes for SNL. But he also wrote and starred in(and probably directed) Los Espookys! on HBO. I think he's got HBO on lock, because he also had the show Fantasmas there. He also had that movie, the one with Tilda Swinton. Did you like here in Okja? Let me know in the comments! And this time, the audio is fixed! Huzzah!

    Sincerely Sidney #9 - A Star is Borked | a narrative comedy podcast

    After her highly disastrous dinner with Elton, Greg with a C and No Sweat Six Pack launch an intervention to try to bring Sidney back from the dark side. She seemingly sees the errors of her ways and repents, unwilling to risk losing her newfound friends and all that comes with being an influencer. As the next step in her incredibly unlikely rise in fame and stardom, Sidney wins an Oscar in beautiful Los Angeles. However, during her acceptance speech, her true colors show yet again, and she destroys all of the goodwill she had built with virtually everyone she knows. In a downward spiral, Sidney finds herself in the happiest place on Earth: Times Square. After a brief musical interlude, Sidney has a revelation and sees the path towards redemption and happiness comes not through glib statements, but true, honest, authentic contrition. And she thinks she knows how to do it, too. ---- Sincerely Sidney is a narrative comedy podcast for people who enjoy podcasts like the Doughboys, All Fantasy Everything, and the podcasts in the broader Comedy Bang Bang World universe. It's in the spirit of TV shows like Bojack Horseman, the Other Two, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Strangers with Candy. As for movies, what was really the last good comedy released? Men in Black III: International? Cars 2? Maybe that movie with Dave Franco? No, not James Franco. Dave Franco. Wait, wait, no Dave Franco. I was thinking of the other guy from Other Space. Anyway, I think Detective Pikachu was probably the last good comedy. It's incredible how many people are still playing Pokemon Go. I mean, kudos to them, right? They're often getting outside. They're socializing. They're enjoying themselves. But what happens when someone pulls the plug on that game. There goes the whole community. I've seen people playing in South Dakota. I've seen people playing in California. Is any of this germane to Sincerely Sidney? No, not remotely. And yet here I am writing it. And here you are reading it. I guess, in some ways, everything is related to Sincerely Sidney, the funniest podcast since that Marc Maron one. Oh, and that one with Conan O'Brien, the tall orange-haired man who used to have a show on NBC. I think it's better than Smart Less, too, but that's because that show seems to involve a lot of pandering. Disagree with my opinion on Smart Less. Comment below! Agree with my opinion on Conan O'Brien's orange hair? Comment below! Oh, did I mention that this episode includes a parody of Paul Simon's Graceland? I don't think I did.

    Sincerely Sidney #8 - Clash or Credit

    Elton is dismayed at Sidney's casual disregard for him; that is to say, he wishes he had been invited to the sex party, too. Perhaps a little blinded by her newfound fame and stardom, Sidney isn't quick to apologize, furthering the rift between the two. Eventually, Sidney invites Elton to a dinner with her new influencer friends. However, on account of their two massive egos, every attempt at reconciling fails. Will this be the end of Sidney and Elton's friendship? Listen to Sincerely Sidney, the most popular comedy podcast about a failed 1960s advice columnist turned modern-day influencer ever. Perfect for people who both like to laugh and enjoy listening to things. I dare you not to enjoy it.     Sincerely Sidney #7 - Everything That Influences Must Converge

    Sidney very rapidly becomes a leading influencer, attracting countless devoted fans and companies eager for her to shill their junk. As part of her ascent into stardom, she and Elton go to an industry event full of similarly super powerful influencers aboard an exclusive yacht in New York Harbor. However, Elton feels left out when Sidney makes new...friends, and leaves him behind. Elton goes home alone, but the same can't be said for Sidney. Follow. Share. Enjoy!

    Sincerely Sidney #6 - Absolutely Fatuous

    Sidney, despite her best intentions, falls into old habits. That's right -- she's giving advice again. Except, this time, instead of writing in a newspaper, Sidney's dispensing advice on social media. Whereas 1961 Sidney couldn't catch a break, 2024 Sidney very quickly finds success. Apparently our modern mentality is more attuned to Sidney's misguided, barely coherent advice. Not only has Sidney found an audience of receptive morons who seek out her advice, she's also attracted sponsorship and partnerships. She's become both a mover -- and a shaker. -- Sincerely Sidney, the most popular podcast since mashed potatoes. They tell me you need to write big, long descriptions with lots of engaging words, otherwise the search engines will never find you. Anyway, I just listened to that new song by Bright Eyes. It's good. It has that bouncy reggae feel without being a rip-off or being riddled with affectations. Go listen to First World Blues by Bright Eyes! Oh, and listen to Sincerely Sidney. It's the funniest podcast on the internet. It's definitely funnier than these things I'm reading on Time Magazine's Top 100 Best Podcasts of All Time list. Like, Nice White Parents? Sincerely Sidney is funnier than that. New Heights? I don't know what that is. Bill Simmons? More like Bore Simmons, am I right? Call Your Girlfriend; Sincerely Sidney is funnier than that. Funnier than Criminal, too. Definitely funnier than Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. It may not be funnier than Blank Check, but it definitely comes close. It also may not be funnier than the Dropout, which is about the Theranos lady, but I don't think the Dropout is intentionally funny, whereas Sincerely Sidney, as the first and only podcast about a time traveling advice columnist turned influencer, is definitely intentionally funny. I promise.

    Sincerely Sidney #5 - Take This Job & Love it

    It turns out that Sidney's skillset doesn't translate to the modern gig economy -- except when it comes to picking up other people's groceries. Much to Elton's surprise, she's something of a shopping savant. Things go quite swimmingly for Sidney until one of her deliveries brings her to the door of her erstwhile pseudo-beau, Hudson. Sidney's newfound success goes into a tailspin, forcing her to question what to do next. --- Whereas, for you, dear listener, what you need to do next is obvious: keep listening to Sincerely Sidney, America's funniest podcast since that one with Conan O'Brien. Except, unlike those other podcasts, Sincerely Sidney isn't interested in pandering to the egos of celebrities. Nor does Sincerely Sidney have access to fancy pants actors, actresses and musicians. No, Sincerely Sidney is a simple, albeit hilarious, story written, produced and voiced by one silly man. Conan O'Brien can't say that, can he? Imagine if Conan were doing Sincerely Sidney. Imagine if we had could get such storied guests as Keith Urban, Kevin Hart, Colin Quinn and Alan Yang. Wait. Who's Alan Yang? If I were to cast a Sincerely Sidney movie, I could see Hannah Einbinder playing the part. She was on Hacks and was one of Conan O'Brien's guests. I'm looking through this list of past Conan guests, and I'm having trouble casting an Elton. Definitely not Diego Luna. Or Charlie Day. Ramy Youssef would be a wild choice. Same thing with Paul F. Tompkins. I don't know if Conan meets enough early to mid 30s men. Oh, maybe Bowen Yang? Let me know, Bowen! Okay, let's keep going. Hudson.     Sincerely Sidney #4 - the June Winters of our Discontent

    A whole new world beckons for Sidney now that she's in the future. It all starts at Elton's hip, Brooklyn thirty-something's party in Brooklyn. There, Sidney finds something akin to friendship with June Winters, a dour sourpuss who encourages Sidney to make the most of her life and seek out romance. After a few false starts, Sidney does meet someone she likes. However, the strange, modern ways of love confused Sidney, and she can't tell if her feelings are unrequited. --- Sincerely Sidney is the #1 podcast for those looking for time travel related humor, so long as it pertains to advice columnists turned influencers. Is Sincerely Sidney satire or parody? The choice is yours. But when it comes to comedy, my advice for you is Sincerely Sidney. On the off chance you're still reading this, I think it's about time you stop reading and start listening. And, if you've already listened to this episode, why not listen again? Of course, your friends will want to listen to Sincerely Sidney, too, so I think it's all right for you to take a few seconds to share the podcast with them.     Sincerely Sidney #3 - Fall of the House of Sidney

    Sidney's dreams of becoming a real advice columnist -- and maybe having a column of her own -- are brutally dashed when she fails to give Benji Benincasa the respect he thinks he deserves. In no small amount of distress, Sidney flees to the New York Public Library, her single respite in the topsy-turvy, mean streets of 1961 Manhattan. Things get precipitously worse, though, when Sidney goes from wandering the aisles of the library to falling through a wormhole and winding up in the future. Upon reaching the future, Sidney meets Elton, a layabout with a heart of gold. Unfazed by Sidney's sudden arrival from the distant past, Elton invites her over to hang out with his friends. --- Do you remember the Sixth Sense? What about Citizen Kane? This podcast episode is like neither of those! Think comedies, like My Old Ass, the Simpsons, Veep, the Other Two, 30 Rock and the Blair Witch Project. Except, unlike the Blair Witch Project, Sincerely Sidney is intentionally funny. In fact, and I'm just going out on a limb here, it's nothing that's been verified by industry big wigs like Jay Leno or David Letterman or Tom Brokaw, but like I was saying, the biggest difference between Sincerely Sidney and the Blair Witch project is that, with Sincerely Sidney, it's good, wholesome fun. Sure, there's a little bit of foul language. There may be a romantic interlude or two. But, by and large, we're just looking at a crazy young woman trying to make it big in this world. Can you say the same about, say, Saw IV? Or Sinners? No, I don't think you can. Give that a ponder, why don't you?

    Sincerely Sidney #2 - Miss Conviviality

    Sidney, as irresponsibly naive as ever, makes her case for a column of her own with the paper's famous advice columnist, Ada Oldman. And then she goes to the library! Are those two things related? Are they ever! Thus continues Sidney's tireless quest for approval and validation. However, and this may be a spoiler, things are not looking promising for our pollyanna protagonist ! Let's just say that ...the future isn't bright. Let's just say that...she fails. Let's just say that...all of her hardwork is for naught. Let's just say that Autocorrect tried to turn 'naught' into 'naughty'. Twice! Is this the funniest comedy podcast? Probably not. Is it as good as Comedy Bang Bang, the Doughboys, Marc Maron or Cinephobe? Maybe. Definitely maybe. But, here's the thing, once you listen to it, like that one guy on Reddit did, you'll laugh. I promise. It may not happen with great frequency. But you absolutely will laugh. And it might be the best laugh of your life. How many other podcasts can say that? Can Dave Chapelle say his podcast made you have the best laugh of your life? I don't think Dave Chapelle has a podcast. What do you think about that? Here's what I encourage you to do: listen to this podcast. Laugh. And then listen again. You'll probably want to rate it, too. And then, after that, share the podcast with your friends. Share it with people who you want to be your friends. Share it with your neighbors. You'll be doing everyone a really big favor. People will think a lot higher of you. You'll kind of be the neighborhood hero. A superhero without the tights -- and not in a sexual kind of way.

    Sincerely Sidney #1 - a Good Advice Columnist is Hard to Find | a narrative comedy podcast

    We're introduced to Sidney Harshbarger, aspiring advice columnist in 1960s New York City. What she lacks in skill and self-awareness, she makes up for with overconfidence and can-do attitude. Whereas New York City in 1961 is a dark and dangerous place, Sidney is a bright, unyielding, painfully naive ray of sunshine. Even on her daily commute, she's inclined to give advice to passers-by, no matter their age or disposition -- and no matter how unqualified she is to give her advice. Nothing can stop Sidney: not common sense, not common decency, and certainly not common goals or values. No, Sidney is pretty much unstoppable; at least, she is in Episode 1. Whether you're listening on Apple, Spotify, Amazon, or one of those really neat cans tied to a string, Sincerely Sidney is bound to become a regular part of your podcast rotation, along with favorites like the Dough Boys, that Marc Maron guy, and Comedy Bang Bang.
