Nature & Mental Health: Sometimes Healing Begins by Stepping Outside

Send us Fan Mail Have you ever noticed how a walk outside, a mountain view, or simply sitting in the sunshine can make you feel a little more grounded? In this episode of The Empowerment Equation, we explore the powerful connection between nature, our nervous system, and emotional healing. Research shows that time spent in nature can help reduce stress, lower cortisol levels, improve focus, and support our overall well-being. After exploring the difference between survival mode and living mode, we dive into why nature can be such a powerful tool for helping our bodies experience safety and calm. From the science behind the Biophilia Hypothesis to the healing impact of awe, we’ll look at why humans are naturally drawn to the outdoors and why reconnecting with nature may be one of the simplest ways to support ourselves. Ryan also shares a personal reflection on how living in Colorado has reminded her that nature has a way of slowing us down, shifting our perspective, and bringing us back to the present moment. This week’s invitation is simple: step outside for a few quiet moments, take a breath, and notice how you feel before and after. Because sometimes healing doesn’t begin with doing more. Sometimes it begins with slowing down… taking a breath… and taking one step outside. In this episode, you’ll learn:  • How nature impacts stress, anxiety, and the nervous system • Why our brains respond so positively to natural environments  • How moments of awe can shift our perspective and increase connection  • Simple ways to incorporate nature into your everyday healing journey Join me as we continue exploring honest conversations about healing, growth, and becoming more connected to ourselves one step at a time.

Attachment Styles: How We Love & Connect

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of The Empowerment Equation, we continue our journey from the inner child and turn our attention toward attachment styles the often unseen patterns that shape how we connect, love, and respond in relationships. Together, we explore the four main attachment styles: secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized, and how these patterns are formed through early experiences of safety, consistency, and emotional connection. More importantly, we look at how these patterns continue to show up in adulthood especially in moments of closeness, stress, and vulnerability. This conversation is not about labeling yourself or fitting into a category. It’s about developing awareness, curiosity, and compassion for the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself in relationships. I also share a personal reflection on my own attachment patterns, including the challenges that can arise around asking for help and allowing support from others. It’s a reminder that awareness is not about perfection it’s about understanding, and from that understanding, creating choice and change. As you listen, you’ll be invited to reflect on your own relational patterns and gently consider where they may have originated, and how they continue to shape your connection to yourself and others. This episode is a reminder that attachment styles are not a life sentence they are a starting point for awareness, healing, and growth. Because sometimes, the most important secure base we build… is within ourselves.
