AL'z a Son of a Bitch

Jeff Zoerb

My name is Jeff Zoerb and I will be your guide through this journey. I’m a husband, father, son, brother, a Veteran, a dog lover and a business owner. I am just an ordinary guy. I am…you. My dad was a victim of Alzhemier’s and Dementia. We had a front row seat to this devastating disease and the effects it had on him, and our family. AL’z is a Son of a Bitch is an unscripted, uncensored, and unapologetic look at the unpredictable journey of Alzheimer’s. This isn’t a clinical podcast—it’s real, raw, and built for people like us: someone with no background in medicine or caregiving, just thrown into the chaos. Inspired by my dad Rick—who used to say, “AL’z a Son of a Bitch today”—this podcast brings together the victims, families, friends, and caregivers. We’ll share stories that are painful, funny, confusing, and brutally honest. You’ll hear from everyday people navigating AL'z in real time, as well as experts who help us understand what the hell is happening—from the science to the symptoms, treatments, and emerging tech. If you’re in this fight, you’re not alone. Subscribe and join the conversation. Let’s laugh, cry, curse, and learn together. Because Alzheimer’s is different for everyone—but no one should walk it alone.

    Episode 8 - Happy 83 Dad!

We're back. On what would have been my dad's 83rd birthday — and one year since our very first episode — I sit down to raise a glass, pay tribute to him, and get Al's a Son of a Bitch rolling again. In this shorter, personal episode, I explain the delay behind the mic (life happens — more on that soon), preview what's ahead (guest stories, industry experts, and upcoming episodes featuring my mom and sister), and spotlight two powerful programs every caregiving family should watch: Emma and Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey – A Diane Sawyer Special (ABC News, August 2025) — Emma Heming Willis opens up to Diane Sawyer about Bruce Willis's frontotemporal dementia diagnosis and the family's journey. A reminder that this disease doesn't discriminate — it can happen to anyone. Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember (2025) — Chris Hemsworth travels across Australia with his dad, Craig, who's living with Alzheimer's, revisiting the communities of his childhood to spark memories and, in the process, create new ones as a family. Both inspired the heart of this episode: don't wait. Take the time now with your elder loved ones. Ask them for their stories. Go through the photo albums and scrapbooks. If your loved one is a veteran, ask about their service. Record it, photograph it, and create those memories together — because once they're gone, you can't go back and make them. Happy birthday, Dad. Thanks for tuning in — more episodes are on the way.
