Faith Audio Arsenal | Faith List | Not Chaff

Psalm 1 gave me a tree, some roots, a stream, fruit in its season—and then chaff blowing wherever the wind takes it. Yeah. There was going to be a song. NOT CHAFF grew out of the same question that kept nagging at me while writing this week’s Faithfully Thinking: What’s feeding your roots? Because something is. Psalm 1 gives us two very different pictures. One life is planted, nourished, rooted, and eventually fruitful. The other has no roots at all. When the wind blows, the chaff goes with it. And somewhere in the middle of writing the song, another line from the article demanded a beat: Walk. Stand. Sit. What starts as something we merely walk alongside can become something we stand around long enough to accept—and eventually something we’re comfortable sitting in. And then Suno surprised me. Before I even entered the style prompt I’d planned, it looked at the lyrics and apparently decided they had something to say. What came back was a contemporary gospel rap anthem—deep male vocals, tight hip-hop drums, handclaps, a gritty gospel choir, brass, and a chorus that doesn’t so much suggest “NOT CHAFF” as plant its feet and declare it. And you know what? It works. Because this isn’t really a song with attitude for attitude’s sake. It’s a song about conviction. About knowing where you’re planted. About knowing what gets to shape you—and what doesn’t. Every voice doesn’t get to teach me. Every wind doesn’t get to move me. And nobody gets a free pass—not culture, not a favorite teacher, not a preacher, and certainly not me. So the choir has one particularly important instruction: CHECK THE WORD. And the rest of us? Check the Word. Check the roots. Stay planted. Because we’re NOT CHAFF. Want to Follow Along With the Lyrics? Want to hear the song while reading the lyrics as they play? Faith Audio Arsenal | Faith List | You Brought Them To My Door

Sometimes you pray for an opportunity to serve God, and you have a whole picture in your head of what that might look like. Apparently, God is under no obligation to consult your picture. I had been praying for an opportunity to disciple someone. To encourage someone. To point someone toward Scripture and help them think more deeply about what they believed. And then I got sick. Suddenly, I was grounded at home. No gym. No usual activities. No getting out and interacting with people. And it occurred to me that being stuck at home considerably reduced my chances of having one of those conversations I’d been praying for. You can probably see where this is going. God apparently did not share my assessment of the situation. Because then the doorbell rang. Literally. There, standing on my doorstep, was someone I had never met. What began as an ordinary encounter turned into a conversation about faith, discernment, good fruit, the Bereans, Scripture, and what it means to actually know why you believe what you believe. And somewhere in the middle of it, I realized what was happening. I hadn’t gone looking for this opportunity. I couldn’t go looking for it. God brought it to me. Right to my front door. “You Brought Them to My Door” grew out of the gratitude I felt afterward. Not because I said everything perfectly. Not because I orchestrated some grand evangelistic moment. I didn’t orchestrate anything. I had prayed. God provided the opportunity. My job was simply to be ready when the doorbell rang. Apparently, sometimes “Here I am. Send me” gets answered with: “Actually, stay right there. I’m sending them to you.” Okay, Lord. Point taken. And yes, I may have laughed about it afterward. But I also don’t want to miss what He taught me through it. Don’t assume you know what an answer to prayer is supposed to look like. Pray for the opportunity. Study the Word. Know what you believe. Be ready to give an answer. And don’t underestimate what God can do simply because your plans changed. Because sometimes, when you can’t go out the door... God brings the opportunity right through it. Want to Follow Along With the Lyrics? Want to hear the song while reading the lyrics as they play? Faith Audio Arsenal | Draw Near

There was a time when access to the presence of God meant a high priest, sacrifices, washing, incense, blood, and one appointed day each year. You did not simply walk behind the curtain. Then came Jesus. Our Great High Priest became the sacrifice. He entered once for all, not carrying the blood of another, but by His own blood. The way was opened. And now Scripture tells us something that should sound astonishing after reading Leviticus 16: “Draw near.” Through Christ, we have access into grace. Through Christ, we have access to the Father. In Christ, we have access with confidence. “Draw Near” grew out of that staggering contrast. God removed barrier after barrier at enormous cost to Himself. He opened the way. He offers grace. And still, He leaves the response to us. We can come. Or we can remain standing outside an already-open door. This song is my answer. Not because I’m worthy. Because the Lamb is worthy. The curtain is open. I draw near. Want to Follow Along With the Lyrics? Want to hear the song while reading the lyrics as they play? Listen to “Draw Near” on Suno using the link below. Faith Audio Arsenal | Already Wearing It

There are some battles you don’t prepare for when they arrive. You prepare before they arrive. That’s one of the things that struck me while studying the little 25-verse powerhouse we call Jude. Jude tells believers to: “contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.”— Jude 3, ESV Contend. That’s not a particularly passive word. But as I kept reading, I realized Jude wasn’t handing Christians permission to become argumentative, angry, or obnoxious in the name of defending the truth. Quite the opposite. Build yourself up in the faith. Pray in the Holy Spirit. Remain in God’s love. Show mercy to those who doubt. Reach for those heading toward the fire. Know the truth. Live the truth. And when necessary, make the case for the truth. That brought me back—again—to the Armor of God. I’ve been trying to think about the armor differently lately. I don’t want it to be spiritual emergency equipment. Something I remember to put on only after I realize I’m in a battle. I want the armor to become so much a part of everyday discipleship that putting it on becomes as reflexive as getting dressed in the morning. Belt of Truth: Know the truth. Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: Carry the gospel. Shield of Faith: Trust God with the outcome. Wear them when you’re studying Scripture. Wear them when somebody challenges what you believe. Wear them when you’re trying to help someone who’s wandering. Wear them when you’re tempted to respond in anger. Wear them when you plant a seed and nothing seems to happen. Because the middle of the battle is a lousy time to discover you left your armor in the closet. That’s where this week’s Faith Audio Arsenal anthem came from. It’s called Already Wearing It. And unlike some of our heavier Battle List entries, this one surprised me. The music is simpler. Smoother. Catchier. A little heartland rock, a little singer-songwriter country, a little funk. And it works. Because the music gets out of the way and lets the message do the marching. This isn’t a song about looking for a fight. It’s about being ready when faithfulness requires us to stand. To know the truth. To make the case. To speak with grace. To show mercy. To trust God with the seed after we’ve planted it. And to remember that we’re not responsible for manufacturing the harvest. So when the moment comes... you don’t have to scramble around trying to figure out what to put on. You’re already wearing it. Apparently, some of the streaming platforms have an issue with the length of these posts, and the lyrics are truncated. So, I have decided to point you towards where you can find it on Suno to follow along with the lyrics if you want to do so. For this song, if you do, listen here for:“For the faith, not against the lost.”“Don't let my anger masquerade as zeal.”“Know the truth. Carry peace. Trust You with the harvest.”And the final reminder: “The battle didn't dress me. I came ready.” Turns out, following random word trails and turning them into theologytakes time. Who knew? Faith Audio Arsenal | Faith List |Jesus, Give Me a New Story

Jesus asked a man who had been disabled for thirty-eight years a question that seems almost absurd: “Do you want to be healed?” — John 5:6 Of course he does. Right? But maybe Jesus’ question reaches deeper than we first realize. Because healing changes things. Being made new means something old doesn’t get to remain the same. And sometimes we’re quite willing to ask Jesus to remove the pain while being considerably less enthusiastic about surrendering the parts of our old story we’ve learned to live with. That’s where this week’s Faith Audio Arsenal song began. Jesus, Give Me a New Story isn’t a victory song sung from the other side of transformation. It’s a prayer from somewhere in the middle. I believe. Help my unbelief. I surrender. Help me surrender. If my heart still wants the old life, Lord, teach my heart to want You better. And then something happens. The focus turns outward. Because Jesus doesn’t make us new merely so we can stand around admiring the renovations. There are people around us carrying questions. Somebody needs a seed planted. Something another believer planted may need watering. Someone may be wrestling with Jesus and isn’t ready to say, “I believe.” Maybe they’re only ready to whisper: “I think I want a new story.” That’s enough reason to enter the field. We don’t have to manufacture the harvest. Paul planted. Apollos watered. God gave the growth. So this week’s assignment is simple: Tell the truth.Trust the growth.Work the field.Bring the Word. And when Jesus says get up? Pick up your mat. We’ve got field work to do. Turn it up. This one’s a prayer with boots on. Lyrics:Jesus, Give Me a New Story [Verse 1] I’ve learned how to live with the things that I carry Learned every excuse, every reason to stay I ask You for healing, I ask You for freedom Then hold to the pieces You tell me to lay down You ask me a question I know what I should say But You know every corner I try to hide away [Pre-Chorus] Do I want to be healed? Do I want to be new? Do I trust what You’re making More than what I’ve been through? [Chorus] Jesus, give me a new story Not a better version of the old Take the pages I’ve been holding Take the things I won’t let go I don’t know where You will lead me I don’t know what comes from here But I know the One who’s calling And I trust You with my fear Jesus, give me a new story Make me new [Verse 2] I’ve carried my anger like I had a right to Called my fear wisdom, called control being strong I’ve prayed, “Change the world, Lord,” while guarding my own heart Wanting Your kingdom without changing my own So search me and show me What I still defend The sins and the strongholds I keep calling my friends [Pre-Chorus] I believe, help my unbelief I surrender, help me surrender If my heart still wants the old life Lord, teach my heart to want You better [Chorus] Jesus, give me a new story Not a better version of the old Take the pages I’ve been holding Take the things I won’t let go I don’t know where You will lead me I don’t know what comes from here But I know the One who’s calling And I trust You with my fear Jesus, give me a new story Make me new [Bridge — building] A new heart A new creation A new life A new direction The old has passed The new has come I don’t belong To who I was [Drums build] So if You say rise— I’ll get up If You say walk— I’ll move If You say follow— I’ll follow Jesus, I’m trusting You [Break — spoken] I planted. Another watered. But God gives the growth. So I’ll tell the truth. I’ll trust the growth. I’ll work the field. I’ll bring the Word. And I’ll leave God’s work— to God. [Verse 3] There’s someone beside me who’s carrying questions Not ready for answers, but starting to seek I don’t have to save them, I don’t have to change them I only need courage to plant what You give me So I’ll tell them of Jesus I’ll listen and pray I’ll water what’s growing And trust You with what I can’t see [Pre-Chorus — variation] Maybe I’m planting What another will reap Maybe I’m watering A long-buried seed I don’t need the harvest To prove I obeyed I’ll work in Your field, Lord And trust You with what I can’t change [Final Chorus — full band / backing vocals] Jesus, give me a new story Not a better version of the old You can have the pages I’ve been holding You can have what I won’t let go I don’t need to see where You’re leading I just need to know You’re there You’re the One who makes things new So I’m getting off this mat right here Jesus, give me a new story Jesus, make me new [Choir] MAKE ME NEW MAKE ME NEW [Lead] The old has passed away [Choir] MAKE ME NEW [Lead] Behold, the new has come [Choir] MAKE ME NEW [Outro — spoken over fading drums] Plant faithfully. Water patiently. Trust the growth. And when Jesus says get up... Pick up your mat. We’ve got field work to do. This is a public episode. Faith Audio Arsenal |Battle List | Not Every BOOYAH Looks Like Fire

Everybody remembers Elijah calling down fire from heaven. BOOYAH. I mean, come on. If you’re going to get an assignment from God, Mount Carmel is a pretty spectacular one. But while reading 1 Kings 18 and 19 again, I noticed something I’d pretty much walked right past before. Obadiah. While Elijah was confronting the prophets of Baal in public, Obadiah had quietly risked his life hiding one hundred prophets of the LORD in caves and bringing them bread and water. And then there were the 7,000. Seven thousand people God knew had never bowed to Baal, even though Elijah didn’t know they were there. Three very different pictures of faithfulness. One called down fire. One carried bread. Seven thousand simply refused to bow. And God saw every one of them. That’s what this Faith Audio Arsenal track is about. Because sometimes your assignment will be visible. Sometimes nobody will know you did it. And sometimes faithfulness looks like nothing more dramatic than standing your ground when everything around you says, “Bow.” Don’t confuse visibility with significance. Whatever God puts in front of you, do it faithfully. Because not every BOOYAH looks like fire. Turn it up. Lyrics: Not Every BOOYAH Looks Like Fire Verse 1 He stood on the mountainWith a nation watchingOne altar soaked throughOne prayer rising No answer from BaalNo voice, no replyThen Elijah called His nameAnd fire split the sky Stone, dust, waterConsumed before their eyesThe people hit the ground“The LORD is God!” they cried Pre-Chorus Sometimes faith stands where everyone can seeSometimes God says, “Stand here with Me” Chorus [Lead]BOOYAH! Sometimes God gives you fire. Sometimes He gives you bread and a cave. Sometimes He sends you forward. Sometimes He simply says: Do not bow. Your obedience may never make a headline. Heaven still sees it. So whatever He gives you— Go. Serve. Stand. Obey. [Lead, spoken] BOOYAH. This is a public episode. Faith Audio Arsenal | Battle List | We Do NOT Give Up!

This weekend, I got hit with one of those stretches where you start wondering, “Okay, what exactly is going on here?” Within about twenty-four hours, I discovered that a job opportunity I had been excited about — one that looked like an incredible answer to prayer — was actually an elaborate scam. I learned that a friend’s father had died. And then another friend and her husband barely escaped when their home burned down — taking with it forty years of memories. It was one thing after another. And yes, I found myself thinking about spiritual warfare. But I also found myself thinking about something else. Faith does not mean we don’t get hit. Scripture never promised us that. In fact, Paul says almost exactly the opposite in 2 Corinthians 4. He says we can be afflicted. Perplexed. Persecuted. Struck down. Those things are real. But then he gives us the other half. Not crushed. Not despairing. Not abandoned. Not destroyed. And then, in verse 16, he says: “Therefore we do not give up.” That stopped me. Because maybe faith isn’t proven by how successfully we avoid the battle. Maybe sometimes faith is proven by what remains after the battle reaches us. Can I still say God is faithful when the answer I thought He gave me disappears? Can I still trust Him while I’m grieving? Can I still see His hand when I’m standing in the ashes of something I thought would always be there? And can I remember what He’s already done when I can’t yet see what He’s doing now? I’ve been calling those memories my Ebenezers — the places where I can look backward and say, “God met me there.” And I’ve got too many of them now to believe He’s going to abandon me here. So this episode — and the song that came out of it — isn’t about pretending the battle doesn’t hurt. It does. It’s about deciding who gets the final word. Afflicted? Yes. Crushed? No. Perplexed? Absolutely. Despairing? No. Struck down? Maybe. Destroyed? Not today. Because God is still faithful. And therefore... we do not give up. Lyrics:WE DO NOT GIVE UP Inspired by 2 Corinthians 4:8–9, 16–18 and Ephesians 6:13 [Intro — low, restrained] We felt the hit.We heard the news.We watched the plans fall through. But we know the God who brought us here. And we know what He can do. [Verse 1] Thought I saw the road unfolding,Thought the door was opening wide. Then the truth came through the shadows,And exposed what hid inside. But my hope was never anchoredTo a promise made by men.I’ve seen too many EbenezersTo believe He’ll fail me now. [Pre-Chorus] The battle doesn’t mean He’s gone. The fire doesn’t mean we’ve lost.We don’t measure His faithfulnessBy what the battle costs. [Chorus] Afflicted — but not crushed!Perplexed — but not despairing!Persecuted — not abandoned!Struck down — NOT DESTROYED! We may bend.We may bleed. We may grieve what we have lost. But Jesus Christ is still our Lord. WE DO NOT GIVE UP! [Verse 2] Some are standing in the ashes,Where a lifetime stood before. Some are waking to an empty chair,And footsteps heard no more. Some are staring at the wreckageOf the future they had planned. But the God who held us yesterdayIs holding us where we stand. [Pre-Chorus] The battle doesn’t mean He’s gone. The darkness doesn’t own the night. We don’t need to see the endingTo know Who wins the fight. [Bridge — building] You can shake what can be shaken. You can take what will not last. But you cannot take His promise. You cannot change His faithfulness. The Lord who held me yesterdayIs holding me today. I’ve seen too many EbenezersTo turn and walk away. [Breakdown — military cadence] When the armor feels heavy— STAND. When the answer hasn’t come— STAND. When the smoke has filled the sky— STAND. When you’re asking God, “Why?”— STAND. When you’ve done everything you know to do— STAND. [Spoken — Ephesians 6:13] “Having prepared everything...” STAND. [Final Chorus — full force] AFFLICTED! NOT CRUSHED! PERPLEXED! NOT DESPAIRING! PERSECUTED! NOT ABANDONED! STRUCK DOWN! NOT DESTROYED! We are pressed —BUT WE STILL PRAISE! We are wounded —BUT WE STILL TRUST! We are grieving —BUT WE STILL KNOW! OUR GOD HAS NOT ABANDONED US! What we see is temporary! What He promised is eternal! So let the whole battlefield hear us: WE. DO. NOT. GIVE. UP! [Outro — music drops, single voice] Yesterday... He was faithful. Today... He is faithful. Tomorrow... He will still be faithful. [quiet] We do not give up. This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit scbailey.substack.com/subscribe

Faith Audio Arsenal | Battle List | Send Me Into the Field

This week’s FAA came straight out of the rabbit trail. If the harvest is plentiful, the Spirit has already been given, and the workers are still few, then maybe the question is not whether we feel qualified. Maybe it is whether we are willing. “Send Me Into the Field” is a battle anthem for that moment. Not for trying to save anyone ourselves. Not for forcing results. For planting. Praying. Going when God says go. And trusting Him with the growth. Turn it up. Lyrics Send Me Into the Field Verse 1 I know the field is waitingI know the need is realBut fear can make me hesitateAnd silence starts to feelLike wisdom dressed in cautionLike waiting for a signWhile someone right in front of meMay be running out of time Pre-Chorus You never asked me to save themYou never said the growth was mineYou only asked me to be faithfulAnd trust Your Spirit with the time Chorus Send me into the fieldWhere the hurting hearts are waitingPut Your truth upon my lipsLet Your Spirit do the changingI can plant, I can prayI can go where You revealLord of the harvest, here I amSend me into the field Verse 2 Let mercy mark my footstepsLet patience shape my toneLet peace become the evidenceThat I am not my ownUse every gift You’ve givenFor more than just my nameLet someone see the fruit of YouBefore I speak Your name Pre-Chorus I do not have to force itI do not have to make it growGive me eyes to see the openingAnd courage when You say to go Chorus Send me into the fieldWhere the hurting hearts are waitingPut Your truth upon my lipsLet Your Spirit do the changingI can plant, I can prayI can go where You revealLord of the harvest, here I amSend me into the field Verse 3 When I cannot see the harvestWhen the ground looks hard and dryKeep me faithful with the seed, LordEven when I don’t know whySomeone else may do the wateringSomeone else may see it yieldI will trust You with the outcomeJust keep sending me into the field Chorus Send me into the fieldWhere the hurting hearts are waitingPut Your truth upon my lipsLet Your Spirit do the changingI can plant, I can prayI can go where You revealLord of the harvest, here I amSend me into the field Bridge I plantYou give the growth I waterYou give the growth I speakYou give the growth I prayYou give the growth The field is YoursThe harvest YoursThe glory Yours alone But if You need a willing workerLord, You know where I am Final Chorus Send me into the fieldWhere the hurting hearts are waitingPut Your truth upon my lipsLet Your Spirit do the changingI can plant, I can prayI can go where You revealLord of the harvest, here I amSend me into the field Outro The harvest is plentiful.
