Building a House While Building a Business: What Nobody Tells You

What happens when two entrepreneurs decide to build their dream homes at exactly the same time? Apparently, a lot of paperwork, sleepless nights, credit checks, unexpected expenses, construction delays, and questioning every life decision that brought you to this moment. With Kira away moving her daughter into college, Tammy and Nikki are taking over Women Talk Fierce for a special two-host episode about something they're both experiencing in real time: building a house while being self-employed. And their two experiences could not be more different. Tammy and her husband hired a builder while navigating the challenge of carrying their existing home, land, and construction costs while trying to sell in a difficult housing market. Nikki and her husband took a very different approach. They sold their house, moved into a camper, and decided to physically build much of their new home themselves. Yes, themselves. But underneath the construction stories is a much bigger conversation about entrepreneurship. Tammy and Nikki get candid about how differently self-employed people can be treated when applying for mortgages, construction loans, car loans, and other financing. They share the paperwork, financial scrutiny, credit checks, debt-to-income challenges, and hoops they've had to jump through simply because they own businesses instead of receiving traditional paychecks. They also talk about the emotional side nobody prepares you for. How do you run a business, serve clients, raise children, manage contractors, make major financial decisions, and somehow remain married through a home build? Sometimes you laugh so you don't cry. About Women Talk Fierce Women Talk Fierce is usually three women in three different stages of life, motherhood, and business sharing lessons, laughter, and plenty of loud opinions. This week, it's two women, two house builds, several businesses, a camper, construction loans, children, contractors, and possibly the beginning of that true crime podcast they keep threatening to start. 🌐 www.womentalkfierce.com Want to experience the Women Talk Fierce community? The Delusion It Takes to Build a Big Business with Beth Mazza

What if the secret to building a successful business as a mother isn't finding balance? What if it's getting clear on what you want, building the right business model, accepting a little delusion, and giving yourself a whole lot more grace? In this episode of Women Talk Fierce, we sit down with serial entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of The Female Mavericks, Beth Mazza, for an unfiltered conversation about motherhood, entrepreneurship, building multimillion-dollar businesses, selling companies, rejection, and what it really takes to keep going when the plan falls apart. Beth has built and sold businesses totaling more than $40 million, but the road to those exits was anything but smooth. She shares what happened when deals fell apart at the eleventh hour, why she went back to the people who rejected her and asked them exactly what was wrong, and how that feedback ultimately helped her build stronger, more valuable companies. We also get into one of our favorite topics: the myth of balance. Beth shares what it actually looked like to build businesses while raising four children, why the right support system matters, and how women can design businesses around their personal and financial non-negotiables instead of trying to follow a model that was never built for them. And yes, we may have accidentally created the Delusional Summit during this conversation. Because sometimes believing you can figure it out before you have any evidence that you can is exactly what entrepreneurship requires. A Moment We Loved When asked about the fiercest thing a mother can do for her family, Beth's answer was simple and powerful: Empower them to go fight their fight instead of fighting it for them. About Beth Mazza Beth Mazza is a serial entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of The Female Mavericks, a mission-driven platform dedicated to helping women entrepreneurs build businesses differently. Her upcoming book, Entrepreneur Like a Mother, shares the strategies, lessons, and mindset shifts women can use to create businesses that support both their ambitions and their lives. 🌐 The Female Mavericks: femalemavericks.com 📚 Entrepreneur Like a Mother: Available for preorder here Connect with Women Talk Fierce 🌐 www.womentalkfierce.com Want to experience the Women Talk Fierce community for yourself?
