But a few days earlier, a friend had said something that made me scream YES out loud: "Parenting is the ultimate service job." She wasn't talking about me. She was just telling me about her own life. And I did the rest myself. That's the difference between being told who you are and recognizing yourself. One makes you defend. The other makes you jump in.
