Episode 46 -Nobody Takes This Seriously: Postpartum Psychosis, My Mom, and the Lindsay Clancy Trial

Send us Fan Mail This one's personal. I'm talking about growing up with a mother who had schizophrenia, what it's actually like living inside a family during active psychosis, and why I think we still don't take women's mental health seriously until it becomes a headline. I'm using the ongoing Lindsay Clancy trial as the jumping off point. Clancy is the Massachusetts nurse on trial right now for killing her three children, with a defense built around postpartum psychosis. But this episode isn't really about the case. It's about the pattern I watched play out in my own home decades before I'd ever heard of Lindsay Clancy: psychosis getting read as a character flaw, "crazy," "difficult," "dramatic," instead of what it actually is, a medical emergency. I share a memory I've never talked about publicly before, and I get honest about the parts I still don't have answers for. Content note: this episode discusses psychosis, child death, and suicide. If any of this is close to home for you right now, please take care of yourself first, and know that support is available (988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, US and Canada). 💬 Let’s connect! Episode 44 - GLP-1s, Muscle Loss & What Nobody Is Telling You

Send us Fan Mail If you're on a GLP-1 medication, or thinking about starting one, this episode is required listening. Everyone's talking about the weight loss. Nobody's talking about the muscle loss. Research shows that up to 39% of weight lost on GLP-1 medications can come from muscle mass, not fat. And muscle is the thing that keeps your metabolism running, your body strong, and your results lasting long after the medication does its job. In this episode, Mel breaks down exactly what GLP-1 medications do, and what they cannot do, no matter how long you're on them. You'll learn why protein intake drops dangerously low for most GLP-1 users, why strength training is more important than ever when you're on a GLP-1, and what the five non-negotiables are that you need alongside your prescription. This is not a shame episode. This is a strategy episode. The medication is a tool. This episode is the plan that goes with it. What you'll take away: Why 88% of GLP-1 users fall below protein targets, and how to fix itThe muscle loss problem nobody talks about5 things you must do alongside your medication for lasting resultsHow to build habits during the window while it's openHit subscribe and share this with every woman on her GLP-1 journey.  GLP-1, Ozempic, Wegovy, perimenopause, weight loss women over 40, muscle loss GLP-1, protein GLP-1, strength training women, Fierce Mama Fitcast, women's fitness 💬 Let’s connect!
