Ep 05 The Cost of Staying Stuck What Are You Losing by Refusing to Move

In this episode of The Biblical Film Room, host Michael Jerome breaks down a critical problem in the church today: confusing outward religious performance with inward spiritual formation. It is entirely possible to attend services weekly, lead Bible studies, serve on ministry teams, give faithfully, and still remain emotionally and spiritually stuck. When churches measure visible participation—such as attendance, volunteer hours, and giving—it becomes easy to protect the appearance of godliness while quietly avoiding internal wounds, unresolved conflict, and emotional health. In this episode, you will learn: How staying stuck can affect your marriage, friendships, family relationships, trust, intimacy, and emotional safety. Why unresolved patterns often surface in the people and relationships closest to us.How fear, avoidance, procrastination, insecurity, people pleasing, and difficulty receiving feedback can keep you professionally stuck. How unaddressed emotional patterns can influence financial choices, boundaries, debt, discipline, and decision-making.What James 4:1-2 reveals about conflict and the internal desires that affect relationships. What John 5 teaches through Jesus’ question: “Do you want to get well?”Why excuses and explanations must eventually give way to participation, ownership, and action. How to stop defining yourself by your dysfunction, past pain, or the phrase “that’s just the way I am.”Why you cannot improve what you refuse to review. How God’s love and grace invite transformation without requiring you to earn His favor. If you feel stuck in life, faith, relationships, work, or patterns you cannot seem to break, this episode is a call to tell the truth, take responsibility for your next step, and cooperate with the healing and transformation God is working in you. Ep 04: The Problem Nobody's Talking About When Spiritual Activity Looks Like Spiritual Maturity

Using powerful Scripture passages from 1 Corinthians 1, Hebrews 5, 2 Timothy, and the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5, Michael illustrates how the gap between public gifting and private character can create perpetual spiritual infants. He also unpacks how believers often spiritualize away core emotions like sadness, anger, and fear instead of bringing them honestly to God, and identifies the six behavioral patterns that emerge when unresolved emotions clash with Christian expectations. If you are tired of performing for God and want to experience authentic Christian transformation, this episode will challenge you to stop measuring what you do and start examining who you are becoming. In this episode, you’ll learn: ● The difference between religious activity and true spiritual formation ● Why spiritual gifting, charisma, and talent do not equal maturity ● What Paul’s standard of maturity in 1 Corinthians teaches modern believers ● The cautionary lesson of Johnny Manziel and the danger of drafting talent over character ● Why Hebrews 5 warns against remaining perpetual spiritual infants ● How to honestly identify and process the "Big Three" emotions: sadness, anger, and fear ● Why forgiveness often works in layers rather than a single surface-level statement ● The 6 behavioral archetypes of emotionally unhealthy spirituality (the people pleaser, performer, secret keeper, conflict avoider, controller, and spiritually inconsistent believer) ● What the story of Ananias and Sapphira reveals about image versus integrity ● Three self-examination questions to evaluate your spiritual growth Question for reflection: What part of your life looks healthy on the outside, but needs honest attention and healing underneath? Ep 03 GRACE for the Moment

You do not have to become better before you come to God. You come to God, and His grace teaches you how to become. In this episode of The Biblical Film Room, Michael Jerome unpacks a Scripture-centered framework for understanding God’s grace and experiencing real Christian transformation. If you love God but still feel stuck in the same patterns, if you are exhausted by performance-based faith, or if divorce, rejection, failure, church hurt, family wounds, or trauma have shaped how you see yourself, this message is for you. Through the GRACE framework, you will discover how God meets you in your brokenness, establishes your identity in Christ, invites you to respond to truth, and empowers lasting transformation through the Holy Spirit. In this episode, you’ll learn: ● Why belonging must come before becoming ● How God’s grace welcomes you before you have your life together ● Why grace does not excuse unhealthy patterns but creates the safety to confront them ● How to stop allowing failure, rejection, trauma, or your past to define your identity ● What it means to commit your ways to God’s truth ● Why Christian growth is less about trying harder and more about surrendering deeper ● How the Holy Spirit empowers freedom, healing, obedience, and transformation The GRACE framework: G — God loves you just as you are R — Grace refuses to leave you there A — Grace affirms your true identity in Christ C — Commit your ways to God’s truth E — Be empowered by the Holy Spirit Drawing from Luke 5, Mark 1, Mark 5, Romans 5:6, and 2 Corinthians 3:17, this episode reveals a God who moves toward people in their pain, restores dignity, and invites them into a new way of living. If you have spent years performing for God instead of resting in His love, let this be your reminder: God’s acceptance of you is not based on your worthiness, but on His willingness. Ep 02: The Biggest Mistake Christians Make Becoming Before Belonging

Have you ever done everything you thought God wanted you to do—only to watch your life fall completely apart? For Michael Jerome, that moment came while he was deeply involved in church ministry. He was serving, leading, studying the Bible, helping others, and showing up every week. But behind the scenes, his marriage was quietly falling apart. In this deeply personal episode of The Biblical Film Room, Michael takes you inside the “film room” of his own life to explain why this podcast exists and how one of the most painful seasons of his life ultimately transformed the way he understands faith, identity, relationships, healing, and biblical counseling. From the outside, Michael appeared committed, successful, and active in ministry. But at home, he was struggling with insecurity, unhealthy conflict, control, pornography, fear, and a marriage he didn’t know how to navigate. Ministry had become part of his identity, while the deeper issues in his life remained unresolved. When his marriage eventually ended, Michael entered a major faith crisis. After decades of Christianity, he found himself questioning what he believed, who he could trust, and why years of serving God had not produced lasting transformation in his personal life. Then came six months that changed everything. Living alone in a small apartment with little money, no television, no internet, and limited support, Michael found himself with three constants: his Bible, solitude, and a chess set he used while spending time with his son. That season forced him to confront his pain, his identity, and his relationship with God in a completely different way. He began to realize a truth that would reshape his life: Your worth and value do not come from what you do. They come from who you are as your Creator defines you. Michael discovered that being with God is infinitely more important than simply doing things for God. Christian activity, ministry involvement, and biblical knowledge can look impressive from the outside while deeper emotional and spiritual transformation remains unfinished. That journey eventually led Michael toward recovery, mind renewal, biblical counseling, and the creation of A Space of Grace Counseling. His desire was simple: to become the kind of person he needed when his own life and marriage were falling apart—and to create a place where people could tell their stories with dignity, honesty, grace, and respect. It also became the foundation for The Biblical Film Room. Just as athletes review film to identify mistakes, patterns, and opportunities to improve, we all replay the “film” of our lives. We revisit conversations, failed relationships, family wounds, church hurt, anxiety, anger, loneliness, shame, and the moments we wish had gone differently. But the question is not whether we review the film. The question is: what lens are we using? In The Biblical Film Room, Michael explores marriage, relationships, family, suffering, shame, dating, church hurt, culture, spiritual growth, and emotional healing—then compares what we see against the truth of Scripture. If you’ve experienced church hurt, marriage struggles, religious trauma, a faith crisis, shame, relationship pain, spiritual confusion, or difficulty understanding your identity in Christ, this conversation is an invitation to examine your story honestly without allowing your failures to define you. Healing doesn’t begin by ignoring the tape. Healing begins when we’re willing to watch it honestly. ⏱️ CHAPTERS00:00 – When doing everything right still ends in crisis 00:33 – Why The Biblical Film Room exists 00:43 – Welcome to The Biblical Film Room 01:08 – Complimentary discovery call 01:34 – When ministry looks successful but marriage is struggling 02:04 – Learning how to be a husband 02:30 – Hidden struggles, pornography, and avoiding conflict 03:07 – When ministry becomes your identity 03:42 – Living in fear and feeling like an imposter 04:15 – Successful in ministry, struggling at home 04:28 – Seeking counseling and help from the church 05:35 – Divorce, abandonment, and a crisis of faith 06:21 – When ministry costs you your family 06:41 – The six months that changed everything 07:15 – The Bible, solitude, and a chess set 08:23 – Fighting not to lose faith 08:40 – Reaching a crossroads with God 09:05 – Discovering where your worth really comes from 09:54 – Doing Christianity vs. experiencing transformation 10:10 – Finding clarity about identity and purpose 10:31 – Learning to hear God beyond religious voices 11:15 – Finding healthy support during recovery 11:34 – Mind renewal and spiritual growth 12:11 – Turning pain into purpose 12:53 – Why A Space of Grace Counseling exists 13:50 – How The Biblical Film Room began 14:19 – Creating space for painful stories 15:14 – When a broken world breaks us 15:54 – We all have a “film room” 16:23 – What lens are you using to review your life? 16:51 – Church hurt, family wounds, and blind spots 17:15 – What we examine in the film room 17:44 – Comparing our lives against Scripture 18:00 – An invitation for the hurting and questioning 18:22 – Healing begins when we watch the tape honestly 19:08 – Biblical counseling discovery call 19:36 – What’s coming in the next episode 20:40 – Subscribe, share, and join the Film Room If this episode connected with your story, share it with someone who may be walking through marriage struggles, church hurt, a faith crisis, relationship pain, or a season of questioning their identity and worth.
