EP. 57: Your Old Self Is Running Your New Life (Here's How to Fix It)

You scaled. You succeeded. So why does it feel like the walls are closing in? This solo episode is for every high-achiever who built the thing they wanted and then realized the person who built it can't carry what comes next. Laura opens with something most scaling conversations skip entirely: the identity crisis that lives underneath the achievement. Whether you just got the promotion you worked years for or your coaching business blew up faster than you planned, the contradiction of loving it and resenting it at the same time is real, and it is telling you something. Not that you made the wrong move. But that you haven't yet become the person this level requires. Laura introduces her Identity House Framework, a room-by-room identity audit that asks one core question: who does the version of you who holds this with ease actually look like? From the kitchen (are you still skipping lunch?) to the garage (are you still doing everything alone?), each room reveals where your old identity is quietly running the show and creating the friction you keep calling "growing pains." She closes with a task audit that cuts through the noise fast: does this need to get done, does it need to get done right now, and does it need to get done by you? If your answer is yes to all three for everything on your list, that is not a productivity problem. That is an identity problem, and it is one you can actually do something about. What You'll Hear ✔️Laura's Identity House Framework walks you through every room of your life to reveal exactly where your old identity is blocking your next level. ✔️Her client was skipping the gym, sleeping five hours, and white-knuckling through success until one honest conversation changed the question she was asking herself. ✔️The three-question task audit will immediately show you whether your overwhelm is a workload issue or an identity issue. ✔️Laura calls herself out on being the founder who micromanaged her VA's Instagram captions before she finally made the identity shift she teaches. "Scaling is just supposed to be hard, that growing pains are part of the deal, like you just have to white-knuckle it through. I don't believe that. It's telling you that the internal work hasn't caught up to the external shift yet. That's all." — Laura Dionisio Ready to figure out which room stopped you? EP. 54: 40 Years, 28 Layoffs, and a 99% Blockage: Rich Strilowich's Path to Integration

Rich Strilowich spent over 40 years in global corporations and 30 years on a spiritual path he kept almost entirely hidden, and it took a daughter's autism diagnosis, 28 layoffs, and a 99% coronary blockage to make him stop pretending those two lives were separate. Rich Strilowich is a spiritual coach, speaker, and bestselling author of The Corporate Sage, and this conversation goes places most career podcasts would never touch. Rich spent decades at IBM leading global teams, managing layoffs, and delivering results — while quietly doing energy healing training, core energetics therapy, and spiritual direction on the side. He didn't call it a split at first. It took a spiritual advisor pointing it out for him to see it: he was living as two completely different people depending on the room he was in. Then life stopped cooperating with that arrangement. His daughter was diagnosed with non-functioning autism at three and a half years old. He shut down the private practice he had been quietly building, poured everything back into his corporate salary to fund her therapies, and spent his nights researching and advocating. A few years later, after laying off 28 people over two years, he ended up in the emergency room with a 99% coronary blockage. The depression that followed cracked him open in a way nothing else had, and the synchronicities that followed — a vision quest, a book already highlighted on his shelf, a spiritual director he has worked with for the last nine years — led him to the fully integrated path he now walks with others. What Laura and Rich get into is not a tidy story about work-life balance or mindfulness at your desk. It is a real conversation about the cost of compartmentalizing yourself, the four spiritual principles Rich uses to navigate the hardest moments (surrender, faith, patience, and acceptance), and why the inner discontent you keep trying to outrun might actually be the most important signal you have ever received. What You'll Hear ✔️Rich describes living as two completely different people for three decades, and what it finally cost him. ✔️A 99% coronary blockage and a vision quest in the woods are two stops on the same road to integration. ✔️ The four spiritual principles Rich uses to stay grounded when life goes sideways: surrender, faith, patience, and acceptance. ✔️Why your inner discontent is not a problem to solve but a calling trying to get your attention. EP. 53: Why Your To-Do List Is Making You Feel Like a Failure

Your to-do list is lying to you, and Laura is here to prove it. This Pivot Tool episode breaks down the exact system she used to grow Lead Intact while still showing up in corporate every day. This is a Pivot Tool episode, the first-Wednesday-of-the-month format Laura created specifically for listeners who want the how-to, not just the inspiration. Today she teaches the personal productivity system she built by adapting Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies for real life. No tech background required. No jargon. Just a framework that actually works. Laura walks through two core concepts: task specificity and task sizing. She uses a real client story to drive the point home. The client had three things on her weekly to-do list, finished two, and felt like a failure. The third task? "Move." As in, the entire act of relocating her life. Laura breaks down why that one word on a list is the reason so many high-achievers feel behind even when they are doing everything right. The problem is never your work ethic. It is how you are writing the list. From there, she walks through exactly how to build your own board, whether on a physical wall, a whiteboard, or inside Trello, the tool she personally uses and recommends. She covers how to set your sprint cadence, how to cap your weekly task limit (she says start at three to five, and yes, she means it), and why the done column celebration at the end of the week is not optional. It is the whole point. Because if you never feel like you are winning, you will quit. And you are not here to quit. What You'll Hear ✔️A client wrote "move" as a single to-do list item, then wondered why she could not get it done alongside two simple emails. ✔️Laura explains why capping your weekly tasks at three to five is not lowering the bar, it is how you finally start feeling like you are winning. ✔️She breaks down the four-column board system she still uses today to run both her personal life and Lead Intact. ✔️Trello tip included: Laura sets her background to a Manhattan penthouse view, and she explains exactly why that detail matters. EP. 52: Michelle Chalfant Built Something Incredible Then She Fired Her Whole Team

Michelle Chalfant built a globally recognized brand with over 11 million podcast downloads, a certification program, and a book, and then she dismantled the whole thing. Not because it failed. Because it stopped being hers. Michelle Chalfant, therapist, author, life coach, and creator of The Adult Chair® Model, sits down with Laura for one of the most honest conversations this show has ever had about what it actually takes to scale something soul-aligned. Michelle didn't set out to build a company. She backed into it almost by accident, going from a full private practice to a 10-person team within a year, and then spending the next few years figuring out how to lead something she never planned to build. The pivot in this episode isn't a career change. It's the moment Michelle stopped deferring to everyone around her and started trusting herself as a CEO. She describes sitting in the shower, hands on her knees, unable to breathe, asking if she was really supposed to let everyone go, and hearing back loud and clear: "We don't want you to turn the Titanic around. We want you to sink it and get into a catamaran." She listened. She let her team go. She grieved it for two months. And then she rebuilt from scratch with a one-person operation built on ease, flow, and intuition. What Michelle describes is not a productivity hack or a scaling strategy. It is a complete reconfiguration of what success is allowed to look and feel like. Her current team runs leaner and more efficiently than her 10-person operation ever did, and she refuses to use the word busy because, as she puts it, the energy of it feels horrible. This episode is for anyone who has built something impressive and still feels like something is fundamentally off. What You'll Hear ✔️Michelle describes hearing a literal voice in the shower telling her to sink the Titanic and get into a catamaran, and why she finally listened. ✔️After scaling to a 10-person team almost overnight, Michelle realized she had been handing her power to everyone else in the room. ✔️Michelle's current business philosophy has no 10-year plan, no revenue targets, just a private chef, a home near her kids, and the question "what would be fun?" ✔️Laura breaks down Michelle's leadership transformation into five steps in real time, and Michelle stops her cold on number four. "You're gonna take the one person that I wanted to keep? I knew everyone else had to go. They just... it was just done." - Michelle Chalfant If this conversation hit something in you, do not wait for the feeling to pass. EP. 51: Why You're Confident at Work but Falling Apart Everywhere Else

You're wildly confident in one area of your life and completely falling apart in another. I'm calling that out, and I have a five-step framework to fix it. I open with a story that perfectly sets the tone: I once briefed a colonel and a room full of subject matter experts at an Air Force Base while dressed as Darth Vader, no problem. But opening Hinge for the first time in seven years? Suddenly I needed a committee. That contrast is the whole episode. We tend to treat confidence like it belongs to specific areas of our lives, career, gym, dating, business, rather than recognizing it as something that lives in us and can move freely between domains. The real turning point comes at the gym. I notice that the fear I'm carrying about building my Founder's Framework, a system I'm creating for entrepreneurs that centers how you work best rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all approach, has leaked into my lifting session. I catch myself reaching for a 10-pound plate when my notes from the week before clearly said to start at 45. That moment of recognition becomes the whole lesson: if fear can cross over, so can confidence. From there, I walk through five concrete steps to cross-pollinate confidence across areas of your life. Name the compartmentalized belief. Get curious about whether it is actually true. Define what confidence looks like in the area where you already have it. Notice what the absence of confidence looks like in both areas. Then decide to bring the same confident behaviors and mindset from one area into the other. It is practical, honest, and grounded in real examples from my own life. What You'll Hear ✔️I briefed a colonel dressed as Darth Vader without flinching, then needed a committee to write one Hinge message. ✔️The fear I was feeling about my Founder's Framework literally changed what weight I almost loaded at the gym. ✔️If a single spilled coffee can ruin your entire day, the opposite is also true, and I show you exactly how to use that. ✔️A five-step framework for cross-pollinating confidence so the version of you that shows up at the gym or in the boardroom can show up everywhere else too. "If my fear can permeate this area of my life, then that means my confidence in the gym should also be able to permeate other areas of my life." — Laura Dionisio Ready to figure out what is actually going on and what your next aligned step looks like? EP. 50: Why You're Still Burned Out Brandon Handley on Breathwork, Brain Science & Letting Go

What if the thing standing between you and clarity isn't more information, more strategy, or more hustle, but five minutes of breathing? Brandon Handley, creator of Spirit of the Deal, joins Laura to break down exactly why high achievers are addicted to chasing and how breathwork might be the most practical tool you've never taken seriously.Brandon Handley grew up rejecting everything his full-on hippie mom was into, meditation, mindfulness, all of it. So naturally, it took a Headspace app, a failed Adderall experiment, a spiritual awakening he didn't know who to tell, and one reluctant breathwork session with a 25-years-sober friend named Dave to bring him all the way around. Now he works with high achievers who are done banging their heads against the wall, helping them stop forcing outcomes and start operating from clarity, alignment, and self-trust. This conversation is equal parts neuroscience, dry humor, and genuine transformation.Laura and Brandon dig into why your overloaded prefrontal cortex can only focus on about four things before you completely fall apart (yes, that's the science behind your overwhelm), what breathwork actually does to your heart rate, your cortisol levels, and your perception of possibility, and why meditation isn't failing you, you just haven't trained your mind yet. Brandon also gets real about the quiet epidemic of male isolation, the friend who asked him "why are you trying so hard?" and the client Tom who went from working on a construction site to running large-scale projects, not by getting more education, but by finally feeling safe within himself. And yes, Brandon makes AI-generated astrology horoscopes with his signature dry humor, and Laura absolutely puts the link in the show notes. You're welcome. What You'll Hear ✔️ Brandon tried to get an Adderall prescription from wellness clinics who kept suggesting meditation, and he kept telling them "I probably never will, it's just not my path." ✔️ Your brain asks your heart "is everything cool?" more than you realize, and breathwork is how you finally let the heart say yes. ✔️ Brandon's client Tom went from boots on the ground in construction to running major projects without a single new credential, just inner safety. ✔️ "Ask and you shall receive" is not the same as "ask and go chase it down some more", and that distinction will rewire how you work. "You ask for it, but then you go f*****g chase it some more. It's called Ask and You Shall Receive. It's not called Ask and Go Chase It Down." — Brandon Handley If this episode cracked something open for you, here's where to go next: 📞 Book a free 20-min Clarity Call with Laura: https://leadintactwithlaura.as.me/free-clarity-call 💛 Heart-Aligned Career Transition Starter (free): https://www.leadintact.com/freebies/heart-aligned-career Links & Resources 🔗 Brandon Handley's website: https://brandonghandley.com 🔗 Brandon's free nervous system diagnostic (takes about a minute — run it): https://brandonghandley.com/diag2.html 📸 Brandon on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brandonghandley_/ 🔗 Brandon's horoscope for June: https://brandonghandley.com/sotd_june_2026.html

EP. 49: You're Not Stuck Because of Your Job — It's This

What if you're not stuck because of your job, your boss, or your circumstances, but because of invisible rules you absorbed so long ago, you forgot you were even following them? Laura's calling herself out in this one, and she's taking you with her. This solo episode is Laura pulling back the curtain on five invisible beliefs that high achievers carry without realizing it,  and how those beliefs quietly sabotage career transitions, even when you're doing everything "right." She's not theorizing. She's confessing. From diagnosing her own exhaustion instead of just resting, to building a spreadsheet to justify a desire she already knew was true, Laura walks through the exact moments where she caught herself living by rules she never consciously chose. The throughline? Changing your external circumstances,  the job, the title, the company, will not fix what's happening internally. Laura is brutally honest about how she burned out repeatedly across multiple corporate pivots because her definition of productivity never changed. Even after leaving her 18-year corporate career, she found herself asking, "Did I do enough today?"  The cage wasn't the corporate job. It was the internal rulebook she'd been running on. The episode closes with Laura sharing her Ideal Wednesday practice and the rewritten definitions of productivity and efficiency that finally gave her permission to rest, trust herself, and,  plot twist,  actually get *more* done. She leaves listeners with one challenge: identify the rules you've been living by, decide if they still serve you, and remember that you are the leader of your life. What You'll Hear ✔️ Laura breaks down five invisible beliefs, including "rest needs to be justified" and "stillness feels unsafe" that keep high achievers stuck no matter how many times they change jobs. ✔️She catches herself mid-affirmation adding a qualifier, and realizes that one small sentence reveals she still doesn't fully trust herself. ✔️The New York City story: how a spreadsheet, a pandemic, and a daily walk taught her the difference between justifying a desire and actually trusting one. ✔️ Laura redefines productivity and efficiency from the ground up using her Ideal Wednesday journaling practice, and the new definitions will make you rethink your whole relationship with output. "It wasn't the external circumstances that led me to burnout. It was me. It was what I allowed, how I saw myself, what I thought my definition of what being a good worker was." — Laura Dionisio If this episode hit something real, Laura wants to hear from you. Ep. 48: The Job Exit Strategist: How Tania P. Brown Turned Her Worst Review Into Her Life's Work

You can plan the finances. You can time the exit. What nobody tells you is that the hardest part has nothing to do with money, and everything to do with who you are without the job.  Tania P. Brown is a Certified Financial Planner and Job Exit Strategist whose entire career was born from a "done moment" she didn't see coming. After four years at a consulting firm, a performance review accused her of disloyalty — not for poor performance, not for missing a deadline, but for refusing to cancel her home closing to attend a meeting. That was it. That was the tipping point.  But here's what makes Tania different: she didn't just quit.  She spent 18 months turning her job into her exit partner, squeezing every benefit, building her LinkedIn, taking on strategic projects, getting therapy on the company's dime, and locking in 1099 contracts before she ever walked out the door. She calls it the four seasons of entrepreneurship, and she mapped every single one before she lived them. What nobody warned her about and what she now warns every client about was the identity earthquake waiting on the other side. The detox season. The fog. The unexpected grief of not knowing who you are without a title.  Tania breaks down her D.O.N.E. acronym (Drama and toxicity, Overworked and underpaid, Nonstop crisis and gaslighting, Exhaustion and exploitation), walks through the stages of "doneness" from frozen to frenzy to doubt, and makes the case that a bridge job isn't a failure. It's a strategy. This conversation is specific, honest, and deeply practical in the best possible way. What You'll Hear: ✔️Tania got a performance review that penalized her for closing on her own home, and that was her done moment after four years ✔️The D.O.N.E. acronym breaks down exactly why you feel the way you feel at work and why it's not your fault ✔️Why doubt does not mean delay and why certainty is never coming, so stop waiting for it ✔️How Tania found her niche not in a strategy session, but by pulling strangers aside at conferences and writing exit plans on the back of agendas "My job is to help you quit yours. But my second job is to make sure you never have to go back to yours."  — Tania P. Brown Ready to find out if your bank account agrees with your gut?
