The Perfect Child Podcast is an invitation to Reimagine and Redefine parenting. We begin with the simple truth that our children are perfect. They are not empty vessels waiting to be filled. They are born whole and conscious beings possessing the wisdom of the Universe. They come with their own story and mission. Do we have open minds enough to listen and support their unique beingness? May we find in these stories the courage to do things differently. To step out of line where necessary so that your own perfect child’s light is never dimmed. Compliance into a broken system is not an option. Allowing others of perceived authority to dictate your child’s experience is not an option.     I gotta tell ya, I love me some visionaries! And that is exactly what Annie Cleary and Heidi Smidgell are. In this week's episode, Annie and Heidi of Kindred Gardens, a community gathering space here in Portland, OR share their journey and their dreams of creating a more beautiful world for our children - a childhood rooted in connection and community with hands in the soil. Their belief is that all families deserve a space that helps empower them so they may thrive and flourish. Together, they founded Kindred Gardens, a gathering place for babies and children and their people. Already five years strong, this weekly gathering in SE Portland continues to grow and welcomes families with kids of all ages to play and learn in community.     Naima Dutton is a birth keeper. She describes her three years of working within the NHS as a student as "slowly but surely broke my heart into many tiny pieces with each woman I witnessed being stripped of the rite of passage that belonged to her. I deeply wished that I could do my part to change these experiences and even the system itself." In this conversation, we share all the ways the industrial, medical birthing system is broken and what are better options for mamas. Naima is based in the UK so their form of healthcare may be different than ours here in the US. Regardless, wherever you reside in this world, I would imagine that we have the CHOICE to welcome our babies into this world in the sanctity of our own homes, surrounded by our nearest and dearest. This is how it's been done for eons, centuries. There are a myriad of options to stay grounded in your intuition and have a connected, powerful sovereign birth that respects you and the baby.
