    Fergie's 'London Bridge' and Jamelia Calling Javine a Slag (10 - 16 Sep 2006)

“Yeah, but she really is a slag though.” With those immortal words, Jamelia bodied Javine...but while that line is still rightly celebrated, we have forgotten how great Jamelia’s music was in 2006. Luckily, your favourite 2000s pop music history where every episode we’re revisiting the UK top 40 singles chart from this week 20 years ago is here to change that. This week, we’re also talking about Fergie’s ridiculous solo debut (and inability to tell London’s bridges apart), Kelis starting a feud with 50 Cent and the weirdest piece of promo I’ve ever seen a flop pop star do in all my time researching the 00s. Featuring the follow songs from September 2006: Arctic Monkeys - Leave Before the Lights Come On Basement Jaxx - Hush Boy Beyoncé feat. Robbie's 'Rudebox', Nelly Furtado's 'Promiscuous' and the Return of Scissor Sisters (3 - 9 September 2006)

Few pieces of pop music have dented a career quite like Robbie Williams’ Rudebox, so I’m so glad to finally be able to talk about this weird electro-rap song about how TK Maxx costs less and how you don’t sweat much for a fat lass. Once called the worst song ever, is it (whisper it) actually a brilliant piece of 2000s pop? We find out on the latest episode of the music history podcast where every week we relive the singles chart from this week 20 years ago. Elsewhere on the pop music charts this week in 2006: Nelly Furtado’s US number one finally gets its UK release - which Nelly seems intent to destroy the memory of with her weird new version. Plus the Scissor Sisters are back with Elton John in tow and their biggest track yet, I Don’t Feel like Dancin’.Also on this week’s edition of The 2000s Chart Show: * Muse spell out ‘T**S’ in Morse Code * Sandi Thom has a meltdown * We discover the real person that inspired Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis All that plus the following 2006 tracks:Arctic Monkeys - Leave Before the Lights Come On Basement Jaxx - Hush Boy Beyoncé feat. Justin Timberlake is trying to become the white Prince, Pink is inviting men to ‘shake hands with the milkman’ and even Thom Yorke from Radiohead is writing funky protest songs...it must be another episode of the 2000s pop music history podcast where every episode we’re reliving the biggest songs of this week 20 years ago. This week’s episode features some of the biggest pop music icons of the 00s. As well as Timberlake, we have two of the decade’s defining producers teaming up as Kanye and Pharrell collab; We have Missy Elliott saying a sad goodbye to the charts; And we have Keane making a surprisingly excellent song. Beyoncé's Return, the Arctic Monkey's Off-Cuts and David Guetta's Chart Reign of Terror (20 - 26 August 2006)

This week on the 2000s pop music history podcast reliving every song from the singles charts of the 00s… “I just want you to know who I am,” bellowed Ronan Keating this week in 2006, as our most anonymous pop star covers The Goo Goo Dolls and derails his career. On the more successful side of things, Beyoncé is back - and it takes a brave pop star to so obviously rip off their own biggest hit and literally call it Deja Vu! Plus, we get the debut of Britain’s Beyoncé, Alesha Dixon.Elsewhere in the world of 2000s pop music, we have Chico trying and failing to have a real career; another X Factor reject trying to launch herself way too late; And the Arctic Monkeys firing their bass player for unclear reasons. We’re the pop music history podcast reliving the biggest songs from every week in the 2000s.
