McCarthy’s Steeler Six and a Big Finish From Rodgers and Metcalf

Mike McCarthy is beginning to define what Steelers football will look like under his leadership. After Day 2 of training camp at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe Bulletin sports editor Anthony DiCerbo and sports writer Nathan Schivins break down McCarthy’s “Steeler Six” — the six fundamentals he considers non-negotiable — and explain how those priorities appeared throughout a longer, more situational practice. The first-team offense delivered one of the day’s biggest moments when Aaron Rodgers led a successful two-minute drive and connected with DK Metcalf for a contested touchdown against rookie cornerback Daylen Everette. The second-team drill ended differently, with Sebastian Castro intercepting Will Howard on the final play of practice. Anthony and Nathan also discuss the learning curve facing rookies Germie Bernard and Riley Nowakowski, including the challenge of adjusting to Rodgers’ pre-snap signals and expectations. Bernard mixed a false start with several encouraging plays, while Howard showed positive moments before his late interception. On special teams, Chris Boswell went 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts and finished from 54 yards, while Cameron Johnston drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd during his punting work. The episode closes with Broderick Jones’ encouraging return from injury, his work to regain football conditioning and the importance of a healthy training camp for the former first-round pick. The crew also looks ahead to Monday, when the pads come on and McCarthy’s gradual approach to physicality enters its next stage. Two-A-Days: A Pittsburgh Draft Special

Two-A-Days returns with a special spring edition as 2026 NFL Draft week approaches—and the Latrobe Bulletin is gearing up for full coverage from Pittsburgh. Sports editor Anthony Dicerbo and draft contributor Benji Keeler dive into the top of the draft, where consensus No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza headlines a class full of intrigue. From there, the discussion opens up—breaking down key landing spots, team needs, and how quickly things could shift after the first pick. The duo works through the early round, debating defensive standouts like Arvell Reese, potential risers such as Dillon Thieneman, and where playmakers like Jeremiyah Love and Carnell Tate could land. Along the way, they highlight just how unpredictable this year’s class feels—and why that makes it one of the most fascinating drafts in recent memory. Of course, it all leads back home. The episode closes with an in-depth look at the Pittsburgh Steelers, exploring multiple first-round scenarios, trade-up possibilities, and how a 12-pick arsenal could shape their entire draft strategy. With mock drafts, bold takes, and plenty of Steelers talk, this special edition sets the stage for a full week of draft coverage. Move-in Day 2025

Episode 1 — Move-In Day: E-bikes, Pizza, and (No) Aaron Rodgers Move-in day at St. Vincent College was … tame. No snack carts, no Elandon Roberts overalls—just a lot of pizza boxes and a surprising number of e-bikes and scooters rolling through Latrobe. Host Anthony DiCerbo, sports editor of the Latrobe Bulletin, is joined by producer Joe Wells to kick off Two-A-Days, Sample News Group’s limited series on the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp. They break down: Who showed up to speak with press (Pat Freiermuth, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey, Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig, Juan Thornhill) — and who didn’t (notably new QB Aaron Rodgers and veteran Cam Heyward). Why the first four helmets-only practices still matter: formations, personnel groupings, and how Arthur Smith might get three tight ends (Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith, Darnell Washington) on the field together. Early reactions inside the locker room to T.J. Watt’s contract extension. Mike Tomlin’s message (and his all-afternoon schedule): he wants players “a little more miserable.” The unique history and atmosphere of Latrobe, where today’s Steelers still walk the same hill Jack Lambert did. What Anthony will be watching closely in the trenches all camp long. A preview of the Latrobe Bulletin’s 12-page Steelers section hitting readers in the morning—and how Sample News Group papers statewide (and into New York) will have you covered.
