2025 In Review: The Best, Worst & Most Surprising Movies and TV

2025 gave us incredible highs, frustrating lows, and a whole lot of noise in between. In this special year-end Magic Episode, Drew is joined by guest co-host Pierre (@princeanteros) to break down the best, worst, most surprising, and most disappointing movies and TV shows of 2025. This isn’t a hype recap or a listicle. It’s an honest conversation about: Which stories actually trusted the audience Why franchise fatigue is hitting harder than ever The projects that surprised us when expectations were low Big swings that didn’t land Late discoveries we finally caught up on And what we want to see more (and less) of heading into 2026 From prestige TV to blockbusters, originals to reboots, sci-fi, horror, and comic book adaptations — this episode captures what it felt like to watch movies and TV in 2025. We close the episode by each naming our #1 movie and #1 TV series of the year. If something you loved — or hated — didn’t get mentioned, you’re probably not alone.

The Christmas Movie Debate: Die Hard, Horror, Comedies, and Holiday Classics

🎄 What really makes a Christmas movie? Is it snow on the ground? A holiday needle drop? Family chaos? Or can an action movie or horror film still count as Christmas cinema? In this festive episode, Drew and Tiff dive headfirst into the great Christmas movie debate, breaking down what defines a true holiday classic and why the genre is way more diverse than people give it credit for. From action staples like Die Hard, to horror entries that are finally getting their flowers, to comedies and family favorites that shaped our childhoods, this conversation celebrates the nostalgia, vibes, and emotional pull that make Christmas movies so powerful. We talk about: • What actually qualifies a movie as a Christmas movie • Why vibe matters more than plot • Action and horror films as legitimate holiday classics • The rise of Christmas horror • Why sequels deserve more respect • Iconic Christmas TV episodes vs full-length films • Family dynamics as the emotional backbone of holiday stories • Christmas-adjacent movies that still feel like the season This episode is less about gatekeeping and more about celebrating how personal holiday movies can be. Whether you grew up watching the same films every year, discovered new favorites later in life, or love defending your hot takes, this one’s for you.
