The Unconscious Gallery explores famous works of art through the lens of psychodynamic psychology, examining themes such as desire, grief, shame, aggression, attachment, loneliness, identity, fantasy, and defense. Each episode begins with the artwork and its historical context before asking a deeper question: what psychological world has the artist created, and why does it continue to affect us decades or even centuries later? Rather than diagnosing artists from a distance, the series treats great art as a window into enduring conflicts of the human mind.
