Today I’ll be reading verses 97-128 Psalm 119 מ Mem 97  Oh, how I love your law!    I meditate on it all day long. 98  Your commands are always with me    and make me wiser than my enemies. 99  I have more insight than all my teachers,    for I meditate on your statutes. 100  I have more understanding than the elders,    for I obey your precepts. 101  I have kept my feet from every evil path    so that I might obey your word. 102  I have not departed from your laws,    for you yourself have taught me. 103  How sweet are your words to my taste,    sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104  I gain understanding from your precepts;    therefore I hate every wrong path. נ Nun 105  Your word is a lamp for my feet,    a light on my path. 106  I have taken an oath and confirmed it,    that I will follow your righteous laws. 107  I have suffered much;    preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. 108  Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth,    and teach me your laws. 109  Though I constantly take my life in my hands,    I will not forget your law. 110  The wicked have set a snare for me,    but I have not strayed from your precepts. 111  Your statutes are my heritage forever;    they are the joy of my heart. 112  My heart is set on keeping your decrees    to the very end.[d] ס Samekh 113  I hate double-minded people,    but I love your law. 114  You are my refuge and my shield;    I have put my hope in your word. 115  Away from me, you evildoers,    that I may keep the commands of my God! 116  Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live;    do not let my hopes be dashed. 117  Uphold me, and I will be delivered;    I will always have regard for your decrees. 118  You reject all who stray from your decrees,    for their delusions come to nothing. 119  All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross;    therefore I love your statutes. 120  My flesh trembles in fear of you;    I stand in awe of your laws. ע Ayin 121  I have done what is righteous and just;    do not leave me to my oppressors. 122  Ensure your servant’s well-being;    do not let the arrogant oppress me. 123  My eyes fail, looking for your salvation,    looking for your righteous promise. 124  Deal with your servant according to your love    and teach me your decrees. 125  I am your servant; give me discernment    that I may understand your statutes. 126  It is time for you to act, Lord;    your law is being broken. 127  Because I love your commands    more than gold, more than pure gold, 128  and because I consider all your precepts right,    I hate every wrong path. Psalm 119:65-96

Support the Show Summarized Transcript:  Happy Friday, everyone. Today, we’re picking up our reading from Psalm 119, this time from verses 65-96 Psalm 119 Do good to your servant    according to your word, Lord. 66  Teach me knowledge and good judgment,    for I trust your commands. 67  Before I was afflicted I went astray,    but now I obey your word. 68  You are good, and what you do is good;    teach me your decrees. 69  Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,    I keep your precepts with all my heart. 70  Their hearts are callous and unfeeling,    but I delight in your law. 71  It was good for me to be afflicted    so that I might learn your decrees. 72  The law from your mouth is more precious to me    than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. י Yodh 73  Your hands made me and formed me;    give me understanding to learn your commands. 74  May those who fear you rejoice when they see me,    for I have put my hope in your word. 75  I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous,    and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. 76  May your unfailing love be my comfort,    according to your promise to your servant. 77  Let your compassion come to me that I may live,    for your law is my delight. 78  May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause;    but I will meditate on your precepts. 79  May those who fear you turn to me,    those who understand your statutes. 80  May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees,    that I may not be put to shame. כ Kaph 81  My soul faints with longing for your salvation,    but I have put my hope in your word. 82  My eyes fail, looking for your promise;    I say, “When will you comfort me?” 83  Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke,    I do not forget your decrees. 84  How long must your servant wait?    When will you punish my persecutors? 85  The arrogant dig pits to trap me,    contrary to your law. 86  All your commands are trustworthy;    help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. 87  They almost wiped me from the earth,    but I have not forsaken your precepts. 88  In your unfailing love preserve my life,    that I may obey the statutes of your mouth. ל Lamedh 89  Your word, Lord, is eternal;    it stands firm in the heavens. 90  Your faithfulness continues through all generations;    you established the earth, and it endures. 91  Your laws endure to this day,    for all things serve you. 92  If your law had not been my delight,    I would have perished in my affliction. 93  I will never forget your precepts,    for by them you have preserved my life. 94  Save me, for I am yours;    I have sought out your precepts. 95  The wicked are waiting to destroy me,    but I will ponder your statutes. 96  To all perfection I see a limit,    but your commands are boundless. Merry Christmas! Luke 2:1-20

Support the Show Summarized Transcript:  Luke, chapter 2, verse 1-20. 2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14  “Glory to God in the highest heaven,    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. I’ll be breaking this verse down in several Sunday installments. So here is part 1 of Psalm 119:1-32. Psalm 119 א Aleph 1  Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,    who walk according to the law of the Lord. 2  Blessed are those who keep his statutes    and seek him with all their heart— 3  they do no wrong    but follow his ways. 4  You have laid down precepts    that are to be fully obeyed. 5  Oh, that my ways were steadfast    in obeying your decrees! 6  Then I would not be put to shame    when I consider all your commands. 7  I will praise you with an upright heart    as I learn your righteous laws. 8  I will obey your decrees;    do not utterly forsake me. ב Beth 9  How can a young person stay on the path of purity?    By living according to your word. 10  I seek you with all my heart;    do not let me stray from your commands. 11  I have hidden your word in my heart    that I might not sin against you. 12  Praise be to you, Lord;    teach me your decrees. 13  With my lips I recount    all the laws that come from your mouth. 14  I rejoice in following your statutes    as one rejoices in great riches. 15  I meditate on your precepts    and consider your ways. 16  I delight in your decrees;    I will not neglect your word. ג Gimel 17  Be good to your servant while I live,    that I may obey your word. 18  Open my eyes that I may see    wonderful things in your law. 19  I am a stranger on earth;    do not hide your commands from me. 20  My soul is consumed with longing    for your laws at all times. 21  You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed,    those who stray from your commands. 22  Remove from me their scorn and contempt,    for I keep your statutes. 23  Though rulers sit together and slander me,    your servant will meditate on your decrees. 24  Your statutes are my delight;    they are my counselors. ד Daleth 25  I am laid low in the dust;    preserve my life according to your word. 26  I gave an account of my ways and you answered me;    teach me your decrees. 27  Cause me to understand the way of your precepts,    that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. 28  My soul is weary with sorrow;    strengthen me according to your word. 29  Keep me from deceitful ways;    be gracious to me and teach me your law. 30  I have chosen the way of faithfulness;    I have set my heart on your laws. 31  I hold fast to your statutes, Lord;    do not let me be put to shame. 32  I run in the path of your commands,    for you have broadened my understanding. Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS X-Ray Discovery, Trump Green Card Suspension, Brown Shooter Suicide, Fire Commissioner Hero Death

Support the Show Summarized Transcript:  Good afternoon, everyone. It is Friday, December 19, 2025. One quick correction. In the last episode, I was pronouncing Rob Reiner’s (Rye-ner) last name wrong. I was saying “Rayner” when it is in fact “Rye-ner.” My apologies. Such a horrific tragedy, though. Let’s continue to lift his loved ones up in prayer. Here are the stories we’re praying about today: 1. Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS Closest Approach Yields X-Ray Breakthrough Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, the third confirmed object from another star system, made its closest Earth approach on December 19, 2025, at 167 million miles, allowing unprecedented X-ray observations by JAXA's XRISM and ESA's XMM-Newton telescopes. The data revealed X-ray emissions extending 400,000 kilometers from the nucleus and signatures of carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen, offering insights into material formed around a distant star. The comet's non-gravitational acceleration was attributed to natural outgassing, debunking artificial origin claims. 2. Trump Suspends Green Card Lottery Linked to Brown/MIT Shootings President Trump ordered the suspension of the U.S. green-card lottery program on December 18, 2025, after authorities linked it to the entry of the gunman responsible for shootings at Brown University (killing two students, injuring nine on Dec. 13) and the home of MIT professor Nuno Loureiro (killed on Dec. 15), Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem announced. The same shooter was responsible for both incidents. The move aims to address security vulnerabilities in the program. 3. Brown University Shooter Found Dead by Suicide Claudio Neves Valente, 48, a former Brown University student and Portuguese national, was found dead by suicide on December 18, 2025, in a Salem, New Hampshire storage facility, ending the manhunt for the Brown/MIT shooter. Investigators used a custodian's observations and an anonymous Reddit post to track him, noting his sophisticated efforts to evade detection with untraceable phones and avoiding personal credit cards. Valente was linked to the attacks killing three and injuring nine. 4. Fire Commissioner Dies of Heart Attack During Hiker Rescue Michael Joseph Ryan, 61, a retired veteran cop and Phoenicia Volunteer Fire Department commissioner, died of a heart attack on December 14, 2025, while rescuing a stranded young hiker on Panther Mountain in the Catskills. Ryan responded to an SOS signal alongside firefighters. His family described his death as the "ultimate sacrifice" for a man who always prioritized others' lives. Rob Reiner’s Son Murder Charge, Brown University Shooting Manhunt, Jobs Report Slowdown, Sydney Hanukkah Terror Attack

Support the Show Summarized Transcript:  1. Nick Reiner Accused of Killing Parents Rob and Michele Nick Reiner, 32-year-old son of director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, is accused of stabbing his parents to death in their Brentwood home, discovered by their daughter yesterday, December 15. The case against him will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration today. The double homicide has shocked Hollywood. Aside from the news story links, I’m also sharing a link from the Guardian with what’s considered a list of Reiner’s top 5 films, including When Harry Met Sally. 2. Brown University Lecture Hall Shooting Manhunt Ongoing A gunman shot nearly a dozen students in a crowded lecture hall at Brown University this past Sunday, during exam season; the search continues after a person of interest was released without charges. Limited security footage has stalled leads, prompting criticism of campus safety and investigation pace. The attack has traumatized the Providence community. 3. U.S. Jobs Report: Hiring Slows, Unemployment Hits 4.6% The December U.S. jobs report showed employers added only 64,000 jobs in November, following a 105,000 loss in October, with unemployment rising to 4.6%—the highest since September 2021. The data reflects labor market cooling amid economic uncertainty. Federal job cuts contributed significantly to the slowdown. 4. Sydney Hanukkah Attack: 15 Killed in ISIS-Inspired Terrorism Two gunmen killed 15 people at a Hanukkah event on Sydney's Bondi Beach yesterday, in Australia's worst mass shooting in nearly 30 years, investigated as ISIS-inspired terrorism targeting the Jewish community. The attackers had traveled to the Philippines beforehand. The incident has led to national mourning and calls for enhanced security. So let’s pray… Heavenly Father, For the tragic loss of Rob and Michele Reiner, allegedly at the hands of their son, we pray for profound comfort for their daughter and family in this unimaginable grief; let truth emerge gently, and may Your healing touch mend shattered hearts. Lord, we lift up the wounded students and terrified community at Brown University after the lecture hall shooting; protect the campus, grant swift wisdom to investigators, and surround every affected life with Your peace that surpasses understanding. We bring before You the slowing job market and rising unemployment; provide for families facing uncertainty, open new doors of opportunity, and guide leaders to policies that strengthen workers and restore economic hope. For the deadly Hanukkah attack in Sydney, we mourn with the Jewish community and all who grieve; bring swift justice, deep healing to the wounded, and Your light to overcome such unspeakable hatred. In your name, Jesus, we pray, Amen.
