The Monthly Project series allows participants to follow a single compositional prompt as a shared class project. For this month's project we are thrilled to have composer, Philosopher of Listening, and founder of Room 40 Recordings, the illustrious Lawrence English! The compositional prompt reads as follows: Using the power of studio magic, you are to create a virtual speculative sound walk using only found sounds you find on the internet and not your own field recordings. For those unfamiliar, a sound walk is a physical walk through a specific listening space, often aided by original recorded musical or sonic arts materials played back in ear. Since this is a virtual sound walk, you are to create this speculative listening space entirely within the box in the DAW, and since it’s made entirely through found sounds, this speculative listening space doesn’t necessarily need to exist in our literal world. Take us on a walk through this speculative virtual listening space and utilize the production and processing tools of your DAW to make it as immersive experience as possible using only the sounds you find online. Utilize resources such as freesound.org to gather materials, and reference the field recording compositions of composers such as Annea Lockwood, Francisco Lopez, and our own guest facilitator Lawrence English for inspiration.   TRACKLIST:  Jesse - Absorbed Breathplay - Garbage In Garbage Out (Radio Mix) TH Nordberg - Sunday In The Park W/ George Bryson - Untitled 250805 Potvorrah - Wartime Soundwalk Karim - CALL

MONTHLY PROJECT NOV-DEC '25 EDITION W/ JOSHUA EUSTIS Many thanks to Tape Trade for the support. Sign up and get 2 weeks free trial when you do. Join the Discord to submit your work at https://discord.gg/86J5KBJAYee. You can join the Patreon to attend Sunday editions of the class at patreon.com/peretsky. Tracks listed below, stream them on their own here. The Monthly Project series allows participants to all follow a single text score prompt as their guides for composition and production. For this month we have musician, producer, orchestrator, and film composer Joshua Eustis of projects such as Telefon Tel Aviv, Second Woman, and much more. Buy Joshua's music and go see Marty Supreme and keep an ear out for them strings! In recent months during Group Critique Fight Club, a question has continued to arise concerning our work in progress recordings: in what video game map does your piece take place? It’s a great question as it pertains to both a speculative spatiality as far as where our music would best fit, but also under what hypothetical narrative context would it best fit as well. For this monthly project, we are to take this question a step further. You are to musically speculate on a chosen narrative theme for a fictional scene that includes a who, what, where, when, and why. This speculative scene should not come from any pre-existing visual media, though pre-existing fictional text passages are allowed. The scene description should be provided by you in text format along with the recording itself. There are no genre specific guidelines for this project, but if you feel the need to include diegetic location recordings and foley/sfx as a means of elevating your score then you are welcome to provide them as part of the final recording. Recordings should be 5 minutes in duration. Accompanying text should include the story “beats” if and when an action causes a reaction in the narrative so that we may mentally contextualize the musical arc to the score, I.e. “Odysseus pauses to hear the song of the Sirens and turns towards the rocky shores.” Tracklist: Corey - Beseeched One's Theme Emil Haller - Acheiropoeitos Shabax - AsWePolishThisRock Karim - MEADOW v Breathplay - Vision of Divinity tollbooths- snow dream drones ATW - signalpath Bryson - maintenance access
