    Real Talk | God Doesn’t Waste Pain with Nick Owens

    In this episode of Real Talk, I sit down with someone who has been part of my life for more than 30 years. Nick Owens has been a mentor, a father figure, a friend, and someone who helped shape my faith and the way I think about doing life with other people. This conversation goes deep into some of the hardest seasons Nick and his family have walked through, including his daughter Sid’s battle with cancer, loss, grief, divorce, and what it looked like to hold onto faith through all of it. One phrase Nick had written in his Bible became a central part of our conversation: “God doesn’t waste pain.” When life gets hard, do we still believe the things we say we believe when life is good? We also talk about Sid’s incredible legacy and her heart for helping others. At just 12 years old, she set out to raise money to build wells in Haiti, ultimately helping fund three before she passed away. The people who walk beside us when life gets messy. The people we get the opportunity to pour into next. And the importance of having someone you can call when you need prayer, guidance, or simply someone willing to walk alongside you. Nick poured into my life years ago. Now, I’m getting the opportunity to do the same for people he loves. That full-circle moment is exactly what #LifeOnLife means to me.
