"The Projection" is a sacred studio session disguised as a podcast, where collaborators become co-storytellers, and every "project" is a prism through which we glimpse something bigger than ourselves. Hosted by Isaiah Velez, each episode unpacks the process behind a project: the sound, the scars, the Spirit, and the stuff we almost scrapped. These aren’t just interviews. They’re creative excavations—projecting light through what we’ve made to discover what’s still being made in us.

ep4: “HCH x IV” (feat. George Gutierrez of Honor Creative House)

In this episode of The Projection, I sit down with George Gutierrez, founder of Honor Creative House (HCH) and the creative collaborator behind some of the most important visuals in my catalog. We start with George’s own story—the beginnings of Honor Creative House, the vision behind what he’s building, and his belief in collaboration as something that can empower an idea rather than compromise it. From there, we revisit the three visual worlds we’ve created together: The Rebellion, The Distance, and most recently, The Pull. We unpack how each video came together, the ideas and decisions behind them, and how our creative relationship has evolved with every project. But underneath the cameras, treatments, locations, and edits is a bigger conversation about trust. What does it mean to hand someone else an idea that matters deeply to you and give them enough room to see something in it that you couldn't see yourself? That’s become one of my favorite parts of working with George. The work gets better because it doesn’t belong to either of us alone. If you’ve ever experienced what can happen when creative chemistry turns into genuine partnership—and partnership into brotherhood—this one’s for you. ⛓️‍💥: For more of what IV creates, head to isaiahkvelez.komi.io

ep3: “SWORD IN THE STONE” (feat. Griffin "Merlin" Stone)

In this episode of The Projection, I sit down with my brother and collaborator Griffin “Merlin” Stone to revisit the world we built together on SWORD IN THE STONE—a project as much about becoming as it is about the music itself. We unpack the ethos behind the project, the production and writing decisions that shaped its sound, and the mythos running underneath it all: strength, leadership, brotherhood, responsibility, and the tension between who you are and who you’re becoming. We also get into the importance of collaboration and the accountability that comes with allowing someone else close enough to your creativity to challenge it. Sometimes collaboration isn’t just about making the work better; it gives somebody permission to sharpen the person making it. From the smallest production choices to the larger ideas we were trying to embody, this conversation gets underneath a project that continues to mean a lot to both of us. If you’ve ever created something that started becoming a mirror while you were making it, this one’s for you. ⛓️‍💥: For more of what IV creates, head to isaiahkvelez.komi.io

ep2: “IT DEPT” (prod by medialpoint.)

In this reimagined episode of The Projection, we revisit a conversation originally hosted by @medialpoint, a bold curator and voice within the alternative Christian hip-hop space. With his blessing, we’ve brought it into the fold to highlight a dialogue that felt too vital to try to repeat. This time, it’s IT DEPT—the duo of Isaiah Velez & Timmy Arisa—at the table. What unfolds is more than just a breakdown of the 2024 EP. It’s a living postmortem on creative conviction, process fatigue, and the sacred collision of faith and art. Together, we talk inspiration, artistic discipline, the burden of expectation, and offer some candid reflections on the state of Christian hip-hop, or maybe being a "Christian" as a whole—especially for those of us on the margins. If you’ve ever made something that felt too raw, too genre-less, or too honest for the machine, this one’s for you.

ep1: “unprofessional christians” (feat. BERN! & Brodi Phoenix)

In the debut episode of The Projection, Isaiah Velez sits down with friends and co-creatives Jon Bernal (BERN!) and Broderick Perkins (Brodi Phoenix) to unravel the raw, reverent, and rebellious heart behind their self-titled EP, unprofessional christians. What started as a one-off song turned into a cathartic outpouring—challenging labels, confronting church hurt, and wrestling publicly with faith. This episode is equal parts testimony and tension. They talk about making art that doesn’t fit in Christian or secular boxes, the danger of performance in both pulpits and platforms, and why holiness doesn’t have to wear a collar. This isn’t a safe conversation, but it is an honest one.
