Country music legend William Lee Golden joins Happy Hour with Deb for a conversation about an incredible life in music, family, faith, and the timeless power of a great song. A longtime member of The Oak Ridge Boys, William Lee Golden joined the group in 1965 and helped shape one of the most successful quartets in country music history. With more than 40 million records sold, five Grammy Awards, and inductions into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, his legacy is truly remarkable. From growing up on a farm in Brewton, Alabama, and singing on his grandfather’s radio show at just seven years old, to becoming part of iconic songs like “Elvira” and “Thank God for Kids,” William Lee Golden has spent more than eight decades following his passion for music and harmony. But his story doesn't stop with The Oak Ridge Boys. Today, William continues that legacy with William Lee Golden & The Goldens, performing alongside his sons Rusty, Chris, and Craig, and his grandchildren. Their latest project, Golden Classics, is a three-album collection celebrating country, gospel, and classic American music. In this episode, Deb and William talk about his remarkable journey, the importance of family, his faith, his love of country music, his life as an artist and photographer, and what continues to inspire him after decades in the spotlight. And of course, we talk about that unmistakable “mountain man” look that has become part of his legendary identity! Support the show Happy Hour with Deb Real Talk. Big Feelings. Country Soul.
