MoviePod is a podcast about reclaimed cinema. The films covered are ones that have had a noticeable shift in reception since their initial release. These include cult films that have a die-hard fandom that have rejected the critics. It also includes films have been claimed by communities and subcultures as representation. Hosted by Brian Wishart, a film buff in Canada. Each week I will be joined by a guest. I will also have bonus episodes that cover various topics.     Get yer spinach ready, for what metinks is a great discussion. An adaptation of a comic strip that was overbudget and fueled by cocaine. This musical comedy by the legendary Robert Altman was derided for being dull and bizarre. However, the film has it's shooters including me, the late Roger Ebert, and my special guest Kevin Tuck who appreciate the earnestness and impressive production design. There is no other movie like Popeye. Kevin Tuck is an independent filmmaker. You can check him out on Instagram as well as his website. Popeye is directed by Robert Altman. It stars Robin Williams, Shelley Duvall, Paul L. Smith, Paul Dooley, Richard Libertini and Ray Walston.     To commemorate the late great Catherine O'Hara, I am joined by Moonrise Kingdom actor Jared Gilman to discuss Martin Scorsese's anxious masterpiece After Hours! It's a film that was never considered one of Marty's best until recently. Now it appears on various lists as being a major work in his canon. Jared also answers some questions for me about what it's like to be an actor doing the promo circuit. He also shares some stories about shooting small budget productions. Digimon: The Movie's unique status as an anime film that is very Americanized from a wild west era of dubbing and adapting works to western audiences make it a real anomaly of a movie.
