Some crimes aren’t just acts, they’re patterns. Crimes Across Coordinates travels to the places where those patterns surface, crossing borders, institutions, and the gaps between jurisdictions. We ask not only what happened, but where, and why that location made it possible. Episode 8 (A) Part One: The Director Who Never Existed"

Episode 8 (A) part one: The Director Who Never Existed …including the Villa Doria Pamphilj killings in Rome, June 2025. *Correction. This episode, as broadcast, placed Anastasia Trofimova’s death on or around 21 May 2025. A later timeline has since been established. A Carabinieri report filed with the Rome Prosecutor’s Office drawing on the testimony of the manager of the Starbucks in Piazza San Silvestro and on surveillance footage the Carabinieri obtained there, places Anastasia Trofimova and her daughter Andromeda alive in central Rome at around six in the evening on 3 June 2025, four days before the bodies were found in Villa Doria Pamphili. Weighing that footage alongside the autopsy findings, prosecutors Giuseppe Cascini and Antonio Verdi place her death between 3 and 4 June. The corrected timeline is addressed in full in Episode 8B, Villa Pamphili: The Park and the Warnings. On paper, he was an American filmmaker with a Hollywood‑brushed résumé and a nearly million‑euro Italian tax credit approved in his name. In reality, he was a man living on the margins of Rome, holding a passport with a fabricated identity and a film that existed only in ministry files. In this first part of the two‑episode finale, we follow the ghost director “Rexal Ford” from a forged U.S. passport, to Malta and Rome, into Italy’s powerful cinema incentive system, and ask how a funding machine built to support art ended up underwriting a tragedy one immaculate page at a time. This two-part finale discusses fraud, domestic violence, and the violent deaths of a young woman and her infant daughter. Every detail is handled with care and restraint. Part B carries a fuller note. Please listen accordingly. By noon, she too disappears, leaving her passport in her hotel room and her phone still pulsing with unanswered data. Through their parallel timelines, Shadows on the Shore explores not only what happened, but why answers remain locked behind Japan’s strict privacy laws.
