October 4th, 2026 - Pastor Matt Whelan | What's Love Got to Do With It? | Tough Love Week 1

What if the discipline we resist most is actually the clearest sign that we are loved? This message digs into one of the most countercultural ideas in Scripture: that correction is not rejection. Drawing from Hebrews 12:5-11, we explore how God's discipline is never punitive but always corrective, designed to shape us into who we were created to be. The passage reminds us that a father who never corrects his child is not a loving father at all. We are challenged to shift our perspective, not dreading God's correction but welcoming it as evidence that we belong to Him. Just as the difference between punishment and correction is the difference between making someone pay and helping someone grow, God's discipline is always calibrated for our ultimate good. If we have ever struggled to see God as a good Father because of wounds from our earthly parents, this message speaks directly to that pain and offers a path toward healing and a fresh understanding of what it means to be a child of God.

September 27th, 2026 | Pastor Shaun Jaramillo | Clear The Air | We Need To Talk Week 4

What happens when we show up to worship but carry unresolved conflict in our hearts? In this message drawn from Matthew 5, we are confronted with one of the most countercultural ideas Jesus ever taught: that reconciliation with others takes priority over our religious activity. Jesus tells his listeners to leave their offering at the altar and go make things right first. That is not a suggestion buried in fine print. It is a direct call to action. We explore what it looks like to stop overcompensating with church attendance, louder singing, or more generous giving while quietly avoiding the person we have been giving the cold shoulder. The spiritual insight here cuts deep: unresolved bitterness does not just damage our relationships, it distorts our connection with God. When we examine Ephesians 4 alongside the Sermon on the Mount, a clear picture emerges. Anger left to fester overnight gives the enemy a foothold, and no amount of polished religious performance can substitute for a restored relationship. This is a message for anyone who has ever thought, if I just keep praying about it, maybe it will go away on its own.

September 20th, 2026 | Pastor Shaun Jaramillo | The Elephant in the Room | We Need to Talk Week 3

What happens when the elephant in the room is in our own lives, and someone who loves us is brave enough to point it out? This message takes an honest look at one of the most challenging aspects of relationships: receiving hard truth with grace instead of defensiveness. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 7, we explore the difference between worldly sorrow, which leads to spiritual stagnation, and godly sorrow, which leads to genuine repentance and life. The distinction is powerful. Pain that produces real change is never wasted. We tend to celebrate being the ones who speak truth, but this message flips the script and asks us to examine how well we actually receive it. Fake peace, we discover, is not kindness at all. It is conflict avoidance dressed up as consideration, and it quietly kills the growth God intends for us. Real peace requires dragging the uncomfortable thing into the light and working through it together. If we are serious about spiritual maturity, we cannot keep tiptoeing around the obvious.

September 13th, 2026 | Pastor Shaun Jaramillo | The Truth Hurts | We Need To Talk Week 2

What does it really mean to speak the truth in love? It sounds simple enough, but most of us know from experience that getting the balance right is one of the hardest things we will ever do. This message digs into Ephesians 4 and unpacks a tension that lives at the heart of every difficult conversation we face: truth without love becomes cruelty, and love without truth becomes deception. Neither extreme serves the people we care about, and neither reflects the character of Christ. We explore what it looks like to treat truth not as a weapon we throw at someone to win an argument, but as a shared posture of walking in reality together. The call here is not to avoid hard conversations but to enter them differently, with humility, gentleness, and a genuine commitment to the other person's wellbeing. When we do that, we are not just communicating better. We are growing more and more into the likeness of Christ, which is exactly what Paul tells us happens when we speak the truth in love.

September 6th, 2026 | Pastor Shaun Jaramillo | Say It To My Face | We Need To Talk Week 1

What if the most courageous thing we could do for our relationships is simply show up and speak honestly? In Matthew 18:15-17, Jesus lays out a surprisingly practical and deeply human process for resolving conflict -- one that begins not with avoidance, not with venting to others, but with a direct, private conversation. This sermon walks us through four distinct stages of biblical conflict resolution, from that first one-on-one conversation all the way to the difficult but necessary boundaries that protect a community. At every stage, the goal remains the same: restoration. Not punishment, not winning, not building a case -- restoration. The message challenges us to resist the pull toward gossip and instead embrace the harder, holier path of going directly to the person who hurt us. It is a call to trust that honest conversation, even when it feels terrifying, is one of the most loving things we can offer another person.

August 30th, 2026 | Pastor Shaun Jaramillo | Stewardship Over Ownership | Common Ground Week 5

What if the way we think about ownership is quietly undermining our faith? This message takes us to a pivotal moment in Joshua 24, where the Israelites stand in the promised land and face a defining question: who do they really serve? Before calling them to choose, the passage reminds them of everything God has already done, liberating them from Egypt, sustaining them through the wilderness, and delivering the land into their hands. That sequence matters. True stewardship does not begin with obligation. It begins with remembrance. When we forget what God has done for us, we start acting like owners, gripping what we have, setting our own rules, and treating the blessings in our lives as personal achievements. Deuteronomy 8 warns us directly about this tendency, reminding us that the power to succeed comes from God, not from our own strength. The trap of ownership breeds entitlement and pride, and it quietly replaces God with ourselves. This message invites us to examine the posture of our hearts and ask an honest question: are we holding our relationships, our resources, and our opportunities with a closed fist or an open hand?

August 23rd, 2026 | Pastor Shaun Jaramillo | Under Construction | Common Ground Week 4

What if the most honest thing we could admit is that we are all under construction? This message digs into the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15, verses 1 through 7, and unpacks a truth that is both humbling and liberating: the church was never meant to be a museum for the perfect, but a workshop for the broken. Jesus did not wait for the lost sheep to clean itself up before going after it. He left the ninety-nine, searched until he found the one, and carried it home on his shoulders. That image alone tells us everything about how God sees us. The spiritual lesson here is not just about being found, it is about what we do once we are. Do we celebrate when God brings someone else home, or do we stand at the door like the older brother, arms crossed, tallying up everything we feel we deserve? The construction zone metaphor runs deep in this message. Potholes, detours, scaffolding, and slow lanes are not signs that something has gone wrong. They are signs that something is being made right. The question is whether we are willing to slow down long enough to let that work happen.

August 16th, 2026 | Tim Stewart | We Become What We Behold | Common Ground Week 3

What if the very identity we have been searching for has already been declared over us? In this message, we explore one of the most surprising and profound claims Jesus makes in the Sermon on the Mount — that we, his followers, are the light of the world. Not just recipients of light, but carriers of it. Drawing from Matthew 5:13-16 and the apostle Paul's words in Ephesians 5:8, we are invited to see ourselves not through the lens of our failures or the voices of culture, but through the eyes of our Maker. The message challenges us to ask a simple but penetrating question: who do we allow to define us? Just as it would be foolish to trust a hand-drawn poster over the original artwork from the studio that made the film, it is equally foolish to let anything other than God's voice shape our identity. The deeper we go into this truth, the more we discover that becoming like Jesus is not a matter of trying harder — it is a matter of beholding him more. We become what we behold. This is an invitation to fix our eyes on the light and trust that transformation will follow.
