    60 Episode - You’re Not Giving Up, You’re Surrendering

Have you mistaken surrender for quitting when God was actually asking you to trust Him? That question takes us into a much deeper conversation about what surrender to God actually looks like. In this episode of Still With Purpose, Amanda and Christy talk about the difference between giving up and surrendering. Giving up says, “I don’t believe anything good can happen.” Surrender says, “I believe something good can happen, but I no longer need to control how or when.” And that distinction can change everything.Sometimes surrender means taking action. Sometimes it means waiting on God’s timing. Sometimes it means letting go. And sometimes it means taking your hands off something you have been trying to force for years. Amanda shares honestly about waiting years before rewriting her book, learning that she couldn't control how people would receive her story, and eventually realizing that surrender meant telling the truth and trusting God with the results. We also talk about relationships, anxiety, worrying, the desire to control outcomes, the temptation to become the “savior” for other people, and the freedom that comes when we stop carrying responsibilities God never assigned to us. You cannot save people. You cannot heal people. You cannot make choices for people. You cannot even want healing more than someone else wants it for themselves. But you can be faithful with your next obedient step. Surrender doesn't mean becoming passive. It means releasing the illusion that you were ever in control of everything to begin with. We talk about what happens when we stop gripping relationships, dreams, money, children, opportunities, reputations, and outcomes so tightly that we become exhausted. We also have an honest conversation about faith, church hurt, trusting God instead of people, and what it can look like to pursue a relationship with God rather than simply following religion or human rules. Because sometimes the question isn't, “Why hasn't God done something?” Sometimes the question is: Have you actually knocked? If you're struggling to let go and trust God, waiting for God's timing, trying to control an outcome, or wondering whether you're supposed to keep going or surrender, this conversation is for you. Our quote for this episode is:“Giving up quits the journey. Surrender trusts the Guide.”We hope this episode encourages you to stop carrying what was never yours to carry and start focusing on what actually belongs to you: your character, your choices, your healing, your calling, your obedience, and your next step. Not the entire staircase. Just the next step.Listen to Episode 60 of Still With Purpose and join Amanda and Christy for a conversation about surrender, trust, faith, control, healing, relationships, and learning to let God lead. 59 Episode - Why You're Still Empty After Getting What You Wanted

When you honestly look at your life, what are your daily patterns producing in you? In Episode 59, Amanda and Christy tackle one of the hardest questions we can ask ourselves: Are the things we're chasing actually producing the life we want? Many people spend years pursuing success, attention, relationships, money, validation, control, pleasure, or achievement, only to discover they still feel restless, dissatisfied, and empty. Why? Because fulfillment and peace are not created by getting everything we want. They're created by becoming the person God is calling us to be.In this honest conversation, we discuss selfishness, self-sabotage, emotional healing, personal responsibility, unhealthy patterns, control, comparison, and the destructive habits that quietly steal our peace. We explore: How self-centered living creates chaos, Why success doesn't always bring happiness, The danger of always needing your own way, How selfishness damages relationships,Why people stay stuck in destructive patterns, The difference between fulfillment and temporary pleasure, How God changes our hearts over time, Why vulnerability is essential for healing,How to recognize self-sabotaging behaviors, Finding peace through surrender instead of control, And why internal healing affects every relationship in your life. This episode is a powerful reminder that peace isn't accidental. Neither is chaos. Quote: "A life ruled by self-will eventually destroys its own peace." Reflection Questions: What patterns or behaviors in your life are quietly creating damage you no longer want to ignore?Where are you looking for fulfillment in ways that continue to leave you empty? What would change in your relationships if you released the need to control, compete, or always get your way? Join Amanda and Christy as they discuss personal growth, emotional maturity, Christian living, self-awareness, healing, and what it truly means to find lasting peace.Go to our Website for all of our links - www.stillwithpurpose.com Join our Community on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/StillWithPurpose/Instagram - www.instagram.com/stillwithpurposepodcast Email us at: info@stillwithpurpose.comAmanda’s Book - amandasmentoring.com Photos used in quotes - https://sharpdesignsllc.pixieset.com/sharpdesignsartportfolio/ Sign up for our Emails that will encourage you to keep growing. www.stillwithpurpose.com Follow AND share with a friend! 58 Episode - Why You Keep Choosing People Who Won’t Choose You

What if the person you can’t seem to let go of isn’t the one you’re chasing… but the version of yourself you lost when they didn’t choose you? In Episode 58 of Still With Purpose, Amanda and Christy have an honest and vulnerable conversation about rejection, self-worth, emotional attachment, unhealthy relationship patterns, and why some people become difficult to let go of. For years, Amanda wondered why rejection could create such a powerful emotional attachment. Why did certain relationships feel impossible to release? Why did being rejected sometimes create a stronger desire to prove she was worthy of being chosen? The answer was deeper than the person. Sometimes we are not chasing them.We are chasing the belief that if they finally choose us, it will prove we were worthy all along. But another person’s decision was never meant to define our identity. REJECTION DOESN’T DEFINE MY WORTH.IT REVEALS WHERE I WAS STILL TRYING TO EARN IT.– Amanda Sharp In this episode, we talk about: • Why rejection can make someone seem more important than they really are • Why you may struggle to let go of someone who did not choose you • How childhood wounds and core beliefs influence the people we choose • Why emotionally unavailable people can feel strangely familiar • The difference between chemistry, intensity, compatibility, peace, and emotional safety • Why familiar relationships are not always healthy relationships • How rejection can become a challenge to prove your worth• Why we sometimes choose people who reinforce our deepest fears • How the need to be chosen can affect dating, friendships, careers, and personal goals • Why healing changes the questions we ask before entering a relationship • How to stop asking, “Am I good enough for them?” and start asking, “Are they good for me?” • Why your identity in Christ changes the way you experience rejection • How to stop chasing approval and begin living from the truth that you are already chosen One of the most powerful realizations in this conversation is that rejection may not be the biggest problem. Sometimes the deeper issue is our selection process. But healing changes what we are willing to choose. When our identity is rooted in Christ, rejection can still hurt, but it no longer determines our worth. We stop trying to earn what God has already freely given. We stop allowing another person’s approval to control our peace. And we begin choosing relationships that align with our values, purpose, growth, faith, and emotional health. If you have ever struggled to let go of someone…If rejection made you question your worth…If you keep choosing emotionally unavailable people…If you have confused chemistry with compatibility…Or if you are ready to stop chasing approval and start living from your identity in Christ…This conversation is for you. Join Amanda and Christy for an honest conversation about rejection, self-worth, emotional healing, relationships, attachment, faith, identity, and learning to choose from a healed place instead of an unhealed story. You were never meant to earn the worth God already gave you. 57 Episode - From Addiction to Pastor

What happens when you reach the end of yourself and realize you cannot save your own life? In Episode 57 of Still With Purpose, we continue our Answered Prayers series with Chris Kroger, a pastor, husband, father, and former addict whose life was transformed after one desperate prayer: “Jesus, if You’re real, I need You right here, right now.” Chris spent years searching for confidence, acceptance, and relief through alcohol, drugs, success, relationships, and the approval of others. From the outside, he looked successful. Behind the scenes, addiction was destroying his marriage, family, finances, and identity. After years of struggling with alcohol and cocaine addiction, treatment, and repeated attempts to get sober, Chris reached a breaking point. In a hotel room, after a five-day binge, he cried out to Jesus. That moment became the beginning of a completely different life. Today, Chris has been sober since July 7, 2007. He has served in ministry for more than 15 years and is now a pastor and church planter with his wife Nicole at Roots Church in Monument, Colorado. In this episode, we talk about: • How insecurity and the need for approval can shape our choices • Why addiction is often an attempt to fill an emptiness inside us • What happens when success hides a life falling apart • The difference between knowing about Jesus and surrendering to Him • How Chris’s wife prayed and trusted God through addiction• Rebuilding trust, forgiveness, and relationships after brokenness • What complete surrender to God looks like • How Jesus restored Chris’s marriage, family, purpose, and lifeChris’s story is a reminder that no one is too far gone for God.Jesus does not wait for us to fix ourselves before we come to Him. If you are struggling with addiction, shame, fear, feeling trapped, or wondering if your life can change, this conversation is for you. Sometimes the greatest turning point begins with one honest prayer: “Jesus, if You’re real, I need You now.” Be sure to listen to episode 52 - Nicole Kroger’s interview in our Answered Prayers series as well. Her story shares the other side of this testimony: what it looked like to pray, wait, trust God, and walk through addiction alongside someone she loved. 56 Episode - Stop Explaining Yourself: The Freedom of Letting Go

How much of your emotional energy is tied up in explaining yourself to someone who may never understand? In this episode of Still With Purpose, Amanda and Christy talk about one of the most exhausting things we do as humans: spending years trying to get people to understand our choices, our pain, our boundaries, and our story. Have you ever replayed conversations in your head thinking, “If they would just listen… if they would just understand my heart… if they could just see my side”? The truth is, understanding is something we cannot force. Some people may not have all the information. Some may see your life through their own wounds, experiences, fears, and beliefs. Some may have already decided who they think you are before they ever hear your story. In this episode, we discuss: • Why needing to be understood can keep you emotionally stuck • How trying to explain yourself can drain your peace and energy • Why healing cannot depend on someone else changing their mind • The connection between boundaries, forgiveness, and personal growth • How to stop seeking approval and start living from your identity in Christ • The freedom that comes from releasing the need to be right • How God’s understanding of your heart matters more than someone else’s opinion One of the greatest freedoms in life comes from releasing the need to explain yourself. Healing happens when we stop giving other people control over our peace and start focusing on our own growth, integrity, and relationship with God. Reflection Questions: Who are you still hoping will finally understand your side of the story? How much of your emotional energy is tied up in explaining yourself to someone who may never understand? What would become possible if you released the need for agreement and focused on living in integrity instead? We hope this conversation encourages you to reflect, grow, and take your next step forward. 55 Episode - The Certainty Trap

What dream have you postponed while waiting for certainty God never promised? So many of us tell ourselves we're waiting for more clarity, more wisdom, more confirmation, or the perfect timing. But what if what we're really waiting for is certainty... something God never promised? In this episode, Amanda and Christy unpack why fear often disguises itself as wisdom, why so many dreams stay buried because we're waiting for guarantees, and how nearly every person in Scripture stepped forward before they understood the entire plan. We explore questions like: • Why do we keep delaying what we already know we should do? • Is fear pretending to be wisdom in your life?• Why does God ask us to trust before He reveals the outcome? • How do Noah, Abraham, Moses, Peter, and Jesus model faith over certainty? • What happens when confidence follows action instead of preceding it? • Why does God care more about developing trust than giving guarantees? • How do we stop confusing control with faith? • What dream has God placed in your heart that deserves your next step? "The need for certainty has stopped more dreams than failure ever will." If you've been waiting until you feel completely ready before starting the business, writing the book, launching the ministry, healing from your past, changing careers, or following God's calling, this conversation is for you. Reflection Questions • What decision have you delayed because you want guarantees before you move? • Where in your life are you confusing wisdom with fear? • What would you do this week if certainty was no longer a requirement? 54 Episode - The hidden cost of the critical spirit

What if the people you criticize the most are actually revealing something about you? In Episode 54 of Still With Purpose, Amanda and Christy unpack one of the most uncomfortable but transformative questions we can ask ourselves: Who in your life is easiest for you to criticize, and what might that criticism reveal about you? We all have people who frustrate us. People whose behavior, choices, attitudes, or habits seem impossible to ignore. But what if our strongest reactions aren't really about them? This conversation explores how criticism can become a distraction from our own healing, how unresolved wounds show up in our judgments, and why Jesus repeatedly warned us about focusing on the faults of others while ignoring our own. We discuss: • What a critical spirit actually reveals about us • The difference between criticism and healthy feedback • Why certain people trigger us more than others • The danger of using other people's flaws as a scapegoat• How insecurity, hurt, and self-protection fuel judgment • The biblical teaching of the plank and the speck • Why criticism rarely changes people but reflection can change us • How to recognize when God is trying to teach us something through our reactions • The connection between forgiveness, healing, and personal growth • Why self-awareness is one of the most powerful tools for transformation As Amanda shares: "A critical spirit sees faults everywhere except in the mirror." If you've ever struggled with judgment, frustration, offense, criticism, resentment, difficult relationships, or understanding why certain people affect you so deeply, this episode will challenge you to look beyond their behavior and examine your own heart. Reflection Questions: • Who in your life is easiest for you to criticize, and what might that criticism reveal about you? • Who or what are you still emotionally carrying that is draining your present life? • How has unforgiveness affected the way you show up in relationships, trust, or self-worth? • What would become possible in your life if you truly released both others and yourself? 53 Episode - Who Still Has Emotional Access to You?

What if the person affecting your life the most is someone from years ago? In this episode of Still With Purpose, Amanda and Christy tackle one of the hardest and most misunderstood topics in personal growth, emotional healing, and faith: Forgiveness. We begin with this powerful question: Who still has emotional access to your life because you refuse to forgive them? Many people believe forgiveness means trust, reconciliation, agreement, or pretending the pain never happened. But what if forgiveness is actually about freedom? In this conversation, we explore how unforgiveness creates an internal prison that keeps us reliving old wounds, replaying betrayals, carrying resentment, and allowing past pain to shape our present relationships. We discuss: • Why the people we refuse to forgive often affect us the longest • How unforgiveness impacts emotional health, relationships, self-worth, and peace • The connection between forgiveness and personal freedom • Why forgiveness does not mean trust or reconciliation • What Jesus and Judas teach us about betrayal and purpose • How unresolved hurt steals creativity, joy, and emotional energy • Why self-forgiveness may be the missing piece in your healing journey • How bitterness quietly sabotages your future • The role boundaries play in healthy relationships • Why emotional healing requires releasing both others and yourself If you've been struggling to let go of betrayal, disappointment, resentment, anger, shame, regret, or self-blame, this conversation will challenge the way you think about forgiveness and help you move toward greater freedom. Amanda shares powerful personal stories about relationships, boundaries, self-worth, emotional healing, and why forgiving yourself may be one of the most important steps toward reclaiming your life. "The people we refuse to forgive often become the people who affect us the longest."— Amanda Sharp Reflection Questions: • Who or what are you still emotionally carrying that is draining your present life? • How has unforgiveness affected the way you show up in relationships, trust, or self-worth? • What would become possible in your life if you truly released both others and yourself?
