The Kickoff: NFL Week 4 Preview, CFB Week 5 Predictions & Manchester City Fallout

On today’s episode of The Kickoff, Seth Dowdle talks about how Manchester City’s financial scandal has reached another major stage after the Premier League published the Independent Commission’s findings, giving us our clearest look yet at what the club was actually found guilty of doing. On this episode of The Kickoff, Seth Dowdle breaks down the sham sponsorship agreements, hidden costs and financial arrangements that the commission says artificially inflated Manchester City’s revenue and reduced its expenses by more than £900 million. We also get into City’s failure to cooperate with the investigation, what the findings mean for the looming sanctions process and why the relationship between Manchester City’s ownership, Abu Dhabi and the British government continues to make an already unprecedented situation even more complicated. Then, somehow, there is an entire weekend of football to preview. NFL Week 4 brings Rams-Eagles, Chiefs-Raiders, Broncos-49ers, Cowboys-Texans, Jaguars-Bengals, Patriots-Bills and every other game across the league. Can the Raiders prove their 3-0 start is real against Patrick Mahomes? Are the Eagles and Rams already facing an identity crisis? Can Houston save its season against Dallas? And are the Miami Dolphins actually staring at the possibility of going winless? College football is a little lighter this weekend, but there are still plenty of fascinating games. Alabama travels to Starkville for a suddenly meaningful matchup with undefeated Mississippi State, Ohio State walks into Kinnick Stadium against Iowa, Miami gets a chance to underline just how far Clemson has fallen and TCU reaches DEFCON 1 against No. 10 BYU. Plus, Seth’s Politics Minute makes its triumphant return with an update on the Protect College Sports Act. Finally, we circle back to soccer for the UEFA Nations League and the beginning of the USMNT’s road toward the 2030 World Cup. Eight teenagers debuted against Peru, Cavan Sullivan is finally here, Julian Hall keeps scoring and Mauricio Pochettino is using these early friendlies to figure out which young players could become part of the next generation. Then Mexico awaits, and friendly or not, that one always means a little bit more. The Matchbook: Manchester City’s 114 Guilty Charges and What Comes Next

Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League, bringing one of the biggest scandals in English football history to a new stage. On The Matchbook, Seth Dowdle breaks down what Manchester City were actually charged with, how a case that dates back to 2018 reached this point and what could happen next. What should the punishment be if the findings survive the appeals process? Should Manchester City be relegated? Should Sheikh Mansour and the club’s ownership be forced to sell? And where would City even go if the punishment ultimately removes them from the Premier League? Plus, we dive into the much more complicated relationship between Manchester City’s ownership, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates and the British government, and why the entire situation exposes the problems that can arise when state-linked ownership and football regulation collide. Then, somehow, there is still an actual Premier League season to discuss. What does all of this uncertainty mean for Manchester City, the title race and the rest of the league while everyone waits to find out what the punishment will actually be? After Sunday: Recapping Every NFL Week 3 Game

NFL Week 3 gave us exactly the sort of Sunday that makes trying to understand this league feel increasingly pointless. The Cowboys somehow found a way to lose to the Ravens with seven seconds remaining in Brazil, the Broncos erased a 16-point halftime deficit against the Rams in a controversial Sunday night comeback, and the defending champion Seahawks piled up nearly 440 yards of offense only to lose to the Commanders. We break down all three, including Dallas’ baffling late-game decisions and whether there is actually anything to worry about with the Rams or Seahawks. Then we get into everything else from a ridiculous Week 3. The Bills turned the ball over five times and still beat the Chargers, the Raiders moved to a completely unexpected 3-0, Minnesota’s defense carried the Vikings again, and Jacksonville sent the Patriots further into an early-season crisis. We also get into the Texans falling to 0-3 against Indianapolis before speeding through Chiefs-Dolphins, Lions-Jets, Browns-Panthers, 49ers-Cardinals, Steelers-Bengals, Giants-Titans and the Falcons’ Thursday night win over Green Bay. 00:00 Recapping Week 3 in the NFL 02:22 Ravens Break the Cowboys’ Hearts in Brazil 13:12 Broncos Take Down Rams in Thriller on SNF 23:59 Commanders Shock Seahawks 29:31 Chargers Fail (Again) vs. Bills 35:27 Raiders Are Undefeated After Win vs. Saints 40:21 Vikings Defense Suffocates Tampa Bay 47:24 Jaguars Pummel New England 54:19 Texans Woes Continue against Colts 59:52 Rapid Fire Takeaways from Week 3 01:11:34 Falcons Get Off the Mat on TNF vs. Packers Every football season deserves to be remembered. After Saturday: Oregon Beats USC, Florida Stuns Ole Miss and Iowa Gets Its Poetic Justice

College Football Week 4 delivered one of the wildest Saturdays of the season. On After Saturday, Seth Dowdle reacts to Oregon going into the Coliseum and beating USC after Dante Moore left the game, Florida stunning Ole Miss with 52 points in The Swamp and Iowa somehow finding another extremely Iowa way to beat Michigan in Ann Arbor. What does Oregon’s win say about Dan Lanning’s team moving forward? Is Florida officially back under Jon Sumrall? And how in the world did Iowa pull that off? Plus, Kamario Taylor and Mississippi State keep rolling, Wisconsin completes a massive comeback at Penn State, LSU sends Texas A&M into a full-blown crisis, Georgia overwhelms Oklahoma and John Mateer, and Jeremiah Smith reminds everyone why he might be the best player in college football. The Kickoff: CFB Week 4 Predictions, EVERY NFL Week 3 Game & the International Break

College Football Week 4 is loaded with huge games, while NFL Week 3 gives us another chance to figure out which teams we can actually trust. On this episode of The Kickoff, Seth Dowdle previews Texas vs. Tennessee as Arch Manning and the No. 1 Longhorns head into Neyland Stadium for their first true road game of the season. Can Tennessee pull off the upset? What happens when Ole Miss has to come down from the emotional high of beating Lane Kiffin and LSU and immediately travel to Florida? Seth also breaks down Oregon vs. USC, Iowa vs. Michigan and Texas A&M vs. LSU, where both the Aggies and Tigers are trying to respond after losses. Then it’s time for EVERY game in NFL Week 3. Can the Rams keep rolling when they travel to Denver for a fascinating Sunday Night Football matchup? What do we make of the Bills, Chargers, Ravens, Cowboys, Eagles and the rest of the league after two weeks? Week 3 is still early, but we’re getting awfully close to the point where the things we thought we knew in August have to give way to what these teams are actually showing us. Finally, club soccer is taking a break, but The Kickoff isn’t. Seth looks back at the latest Premier League weekend before turning toward the USMNT and the beginning of a new cycle under Mauricio Pochettino. What should we expect from 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan as he joins the senior national team? What should the United States be trying to accomplish during this international window? And, because international soccer apparently cannot be simple, Seth explains what exactly the UEFA Nations League is and why you should care about it. Be sure to let us know what you think, SUBSCRIBE to The Football Corner on YouTube and use the chapter markers to jump directly to whatever part of this completely unreasonable football weekend you care about. 00:00 Introduction to The Kickoff 05:52 College Football Showdown: Ole Miss vs. Florida 15:42 Texas at Tennessee 25:55 Iowa at Michigan 32:09 Oregon at USC 39:40 Texas A&M at LSU 46:47 Missouri at Mississippi State 49:35 Boise State at Western Michigan 53:15 Oklahoma State at West Virginia 55:49 Wake Forest at Louisville 58:29 Oklahoma at Georgia 01:02:19 Rapid Fire College Football Previews 01:07:12 Previewing NFL Week 3 01:09:20 Falcons at Packers 01:15:39 Rams at Broncos 01:24:56 Ravens at Cowboys 01:32:06 Eagles at Bears 01:36:34 Raiders at Saints 01:39:32 Chargers at Bills 01:43:33 Panthers at Browns 01:45:52 Texans at Colts 01:49:06 Bengals at Steelers 01:51:32 Patriots at Jaguars 01:55:53 Rapid Fire Predictions for Week 3 02:00:28 The International Break is Here 02:02:07 The Quickest Premier League Recap Of All Time 02:04:43 The Road to 2023 Begins for the USMNT 02:14:03 Understanding the UEFA Nations League 02:26:30 International Break: A Pause in Premier League Action 02:30:31 Recap of Premier League Highlights 02:37:43 US Men’s National Team: A New Cycle Begins 02:49:34 Understanding the UEFA Nations League SUBSCRIBE / LISTEN TO THE FOOTBALL CORNER The Football CornerYouTubeApple Podcasts Spotify FOLLOW THE FOOTBALL CORNER TikTokInstagramX/Twitter Every football season deserves to be remembered. After Saturday: Ole Miss Gets Its Revenge, Kentucky Stuns Texas A&M and More Week 3 Reactions

Ole Miss finally got its shot at Lane Kiffin and made the most of it, beating LSU in an incredible atmosphere in Oxford as Trinidad Chambliss continued to make his case as one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Meanwhile, Kentucky walked into Kyle Field and stunned Texas A&M, leaving some uncomfortable questions about Marcel Reed and an Aggies team that suddenly looks much more vulnerable than expected. Seth Dowdle breaks down both games before getting into Louisville’s explosive win over SMU, Alabama outgunning Florida State, NC State producing one of the most ridiculous endings you will ever see, Florida’s increasingly fun offense and whatever exactly Clemson-North Carolina was. Plus: Kamario Taylor is AMAZING, Georgia cruises past Arkansas and Friday night was great with Texas Tech-Houston and Miami-Wake Forest. 00:00 Welcome to After Saturday and Week 3 01:39 LSU at Ole Miss Reaction 21:31 Kentucky at Texas A&M Reaction 33:01 SMU at Louisville Reaction 40:06 Florida State at Alabama Reaction 47:11 NC State at Vanderbilt Reaction 53:41 Georgia at Arkansas Reaction 01:00:08 Florida at Auburn Reaction 01:03:51 North Carolina at Clemson Reaction 01:07:53 Mississippi State at South Carolina Reaction 01:09:57 Friday Night Spotlight 01:13:36 Rapid Fire Takeaways Every football season deserves to be remembered.
