    Protect U Podcast: NIL Rejections, Recruiting Expenses, In-Studio Interviews

    Joining Jay Mickens and Jake Wilson inside Studio Triple J is another group of talented members of The Protect U Crew. A group full of commitments, the DB-U title comes true with the duo of Crew members coming into the studio, with College Park defensive backs James Cabarrus and Jordan White. Another Hot Topic broke over the last week, with recent news that June was the most expensive month in NCAA recruiting history. The wave of revenue shared income being spread to the many colleges across America evened the playing field by allowing every school to schedule a wave of visits.  Jay and Jake also break down the recent release that the NCAA’s Clearinghouse rejected upwards of $90 million in NIL deals for college athletes. With loads of money on the table left unattainable, Protect U dissect the reasons why many of the deals went unfulfilled and how things need to be done right.

    Multiple changes were announced over recent weeks that will affect the college football landscape starting in 2027. Jay Mickens and Jake Wilson prepare to discuss the ramifications of the 5 for 5 Eligibility change and the shortening of the transfer portal in a Hot Topic Discussion. Jay and Jake welcome another wave of Protect U Crew members into Studio Triple J for exclusive interviews about their recruiting, commitments, and personalities. Taking turns in the hot seat this week are Lake Creek’s Dakota Clarke, North Shore’s Tony Guillory, and Ridge Point’s Logan Davis to answer the pressing questions asked by their kindly hosts. The July 4th weekend gave opportunities for The Protect U Staff to take a brief breather in the heat of summer to take vacations and visit friends and family. Jay and Jake drop in to see just what it was that everyone was up to over the United States’ 250th Birthday.

    Future Utah Ute and current Grand Oaks Grizzly, Darnell Jackson Jr, joins The Protect U Podcast to discuss his recent commitment. Jay and Jake welcome the Mustang for one of the biggest moments in his football career. A bright and sunny College Station awaited the many members of The Protect U Crew as they headed to Aggie-Land for the Texas State 7-On-7 Tournament. Many members of the Protect U Staff also took the trip to capture content, spread the word, and make connections in one of the most heated competitions in the nation.

    Another very special guest joins The Protection United Podcast to make their announcement live from inside Studio Triple J. This time, it's Ethan Williams, who surged onto the scene to become one of the most sought-after wide receivers in the 2027 class. Jay Mickens and Jake Wilson prepare for another interview and stunning commitment in this week’s episode.  Also joining the PUP is Cayden Williams, the Willis High School linebacker who announced his commitment to North Texas over the last week. Jay and Jake welcome him into the studio to discuss his thought process on how he landed on the Mean Green as his future home at the collegiate level. Lastly, Jay tells the stories from his most recent trip to Utah, where the Ute program opened their arms to hear about insight on Protect U Crew members as well as advice on potentially building an in-house financial advising.
