    Solo Partnering or Self Sabotage?

How to Know If You're Healing or Hiding BEING SINGLE CAN BE THE HEALTHIEST SEASON OF YOUR LIFE OR THE BEST HIDING PLACE YOU'VE EVER BUILT. Are you choosing yourself because you're growing, or avoiding relationships because you're afraid of getting hurt again? In this solo episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana explores solo partnering, the choice to step away from dating and invest in yourself, and the difference between healing and hiding. She shares how a breakup and major life changes led to an unexpected season of solitude in Nashville. With fewer distractions, she focused on her faith, fitness, business, and the relationship she had with herself. But choosing solitude isn't automatically personal growth. You can spend years alone, build a successful business, and still avoid the vulnerability required for real intimacy. Ana gets into dating burnout, abstinence, attachment styles, emotional unavailability, and why protecting your peace can sometimes mean protecting your wounds. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • How to tell whether your solo season is intentional or fear-based• Why being tired of dating isn't the same as being healed• How high-performing men can use work to avoid intimacy• When independence becomes a wall instead of a strength• Why attraction and chemistry aren't enough to establish compatibility• How abstinence helped Ana protect her focus and discernment• Why relationships reveal patterns you can't fully work through alone• How to use a season of solitude to prepare for healthy love CHOOSING YOURSELF VS. HIDING CHOOSING YOURSELFYou're working on specific goals and emotional patterns. You enjoy your own company, maintain meaningful relationships, and have standards without closing yourself off to love. HIDINGYou say relationships aren't worth the trouble. You stay busy so nobody gets close, find reasons to reject promising people, or call your avoidance "protecting my peace." Being alone isn't the problem. Refusing to examine why you're alone might be. WHEN SUCCESS BECOMES AN EXCUSE For some high-performing men, "I'm focused on my business" is the truth. For others, achievement offers a socially acceptable way to avoid being emotionally seen. Ask yourself: Am I building something, or am I avoiding being seen? THE SOLO PARTNERING SELF-AUDIT • When did my solo season begin, and what happened right before it?• What specific internal work am I doing right now?• What would being ready for a healthy relationship look like?• If the right person showed up tomorrow, what excuse would I reach for?• Am I alone because I love my own company, or because I don't trust anyone else with me? MAKE YOUR SOLO SEASON COUNT Give it a purpose. Identify the patterns, beliefs, and habits you want to change, not just the career or fitness goals you want to hit. Set a loose timeframe and check your progress. Do the work through journaling, coaching, reading, prayer, and honest feedback. Stay connected to family, friends, and community. Being self-partnered doesn't mean becoming isolated. And remember: time alone can prepare you for a relationship, but real connection reveals whether you've learned to show up differently. THE BOTTOM LINE A healthy solo season should make you more open to love, not less. If your walls keep getting higher, ask yourself whether you're protecting your peace or protecting your fear. Attachment Styles 101

How Your Attachment Style Influences Who You Choose and How You Love YOU DON'T HAVE A TYPE. YOU HAVE AN ATTACHMENT STYLE, AND IT MAY BE CHOOSING YOUR PARTNERS FOR YOU. Why do you panic when someone pulls away, shut down when things get serious, or question a relationship that's going well? Your attachment style may explain why. In this solo episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana breaks down the four attachment styles: anxious, dismissive avoidant, fearful avoidant, and secure. She explains how they influence attraction, communication, conflict, and emotional intimacy. Ana shares how discovering attachment theory changed her understanding of the emotionally unavailable men she chose and her own anxious and fearful-avoidant patterns. You'll hear why anxious and avoidant partners get caught in a cycle, why self-reliance can block intimacy, and why long relationships aren't always happy ones. She explores high-performing men's emotional avoidance, the influence of childhood, and what secure attachment looks like. This isn't about blame. It's about recognizing your patterns and taking responsibility. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • The four attachment styles and how each shows up in relationships• Why anxious partners pursue while avoidant partners withdraw• Why independence and professional success don't guarantee intimacy• How childhood experiences can influence adult attachment• Why familiar patterns can feel like chemistry• How to identify your style by examining past relationships• What secure attachment looks like in communication and conflict• Small steps toward becoming more securely attached THE FOUR ATTACHMENT STYLES ANXIOUS PREOCCUPIEDYou want closeness but fear losing it. You may overthink texts and interpret distance as rejection. DISMISSIVE AVOIDANTYou value independence and self-reliance. When someone gets close or conflict becomes uncomfortable, you may shut down or withdraw. FEARFUL AVOIDANTYou want intimacy but fear getting hurt. You may pursue connection, then pull away when it starts to feel vulnerable. SECUREYou're comfortable with closeness and space. You communicate directly, respect boundaries, and work through conflict without turning it into a battle. THE RELATIONSHIP PATTERN AUDIT Look back at your last three relationships. • Did you pursue connection or pull away from it?• How did you react when your partner needed reassurance or space?• Did you ask for what you needed or expect them to figure it out?• When conflict arose, did you engage, shut down, or become reactive?• Which patterns repeated, even with different partners? Don't just consider what you believe about yourself. Look at how you actually behaved. Your patterns are the data. MOVING TOWARD SECURE ATTACHMENT If you're anxious, ask: "What do I actually know, and what am I making up?" If you're dismissive avoidant, communicate your need for space instead of disappearing. If you're fearful avoidant, notice when fear makes you question or sabotage a connection that may actually be healthy. Look for people whose actions match their words, who respect boundaries, and own their mistakes. Secure doesn't mean perfect. It means you can be close without losing yourself, face discomfort without running, and ask questions instead of making assumptions. Your attachment style isn't a life sentence. You can learn to show up differently. You Gave Her Everything, So Why Is She Still Unhappy?

The Difference Between Emotional Stability, Emotional Availability, and What Actually Makes a Woman Stay SHE CAN TRUST YOU TO PROVIDE AND STILL NOT FEEL SAFE OPENING UP TO YOU. You can provide financial security, stay faithful, work hard, and never raise your voice, yet the woman beside you can still feel completely alone. Why? Because emotional stability and emotional availability are not the same thing. In this solo episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana shares lessons from a recent three-day private coaching immersion and challenges high-performing men to look beyond what they provide and consider what their partner actually experiences when she's with them. A successful man may be calm under pressure, financially responsible, and dependable. Those qualities matter. But can she tell him she's hurting without being dismissed, corrected, or met with a solution she didn't ask for? Ana explores the difference between being emotionally steady and being emotionally present. She explains why fixing, withdrawing, defending yourself, or explaining your intentions can leave your partner feeling unheard, even when you're trying to help. Emotional safety means she can tell you the uncomfortable truth without worrying you'll punish her for it. It means you can stay present during an uncomfortable conversation, listen without making it about your ego, and take responsibility when you've hurt her. Ana also shares a simple three-step practice for responding when your partner opens up: don't take it personally, thank her for telling you, and ask thoughtful follow-up questions. This episode isn't about dismissing the value of providing. It's about understanding that financial security may support a relationship, but emotional connection is what helps it thrive. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • The difference between emotional stability and emotional availability • Why loyalty, financial security, and consistency aren't always enough • How defensiveness and problem-solving can shut down intimacy • What emotional safety looks like when she's upset or disappointed • Three ways to respond when your partner shares something difficult • How to lean toward discomfort instead of withdrawing • Why understanding her needs matters more than assuming you know them • How to evaluate the emotional and relational pillars of your life FIVE QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR PARTNER Don't assume you know what she needs. Ask her, listen, and remember her answers. • What do you need more of from me? • What makes you feel emotionally safe with me? • What makes you feel loved? • What makes you feel chosen? • What makes you feel truly seen and understood by me? THE RELATIONSHIP AUDIT Write down what you bring to the table, including the qualities that aren't financial or material: loyalty, faith, patience, curiosity, playfulness, self-control, communication, and the ability to repair conflict. Then ask yourself: Is what I'm offering what she actually needs? Think about your last difficult conversation. Did you listen to understand, or prepare your defense? Did you lean in, or shut down? Did you own your part, or explain why you acted that way? Next time she brings you something difficult, try this: Don't take it personally. Thank her for being honest. Ask, “Can you tell me more?” Your next relationship won't automatically solve patterns you haven't changed. The goal isn't perfection. It's connection. How To Create Emotional Safety in a Relationship

Why Success Doesn’t Guarantee Connection SHE CAN TRUST YOU TO PROVIDE AND STILL NOT FEEL SAFE OPENING UP TO YOU. You can be smart, successful, loyal, and dependable and still struggle to create a relationship where both people feel understood. The habits that help you succeed professionally don’t always help you connect personally. Pushing through discomfort, staying analytical, and solving every problem can leave your partner feeling unheard. In this episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana sits down with emotional intelligence dating coach Chris Gillis to discuss emotional safety, vulnerability, and why high-performing men often struggle with the emotional side of relationships. What happens when she shares something painful? Do you get curious? Try to fix it? Explain why she shouldn’t feel that way? Or shut down because you don’t know what to say? Ana shares what made her feel emotionally safe in a past relationship: encouragement, thoughtful questions, and being able to speak honestly without having her feelings dismissed. That safety went both ways. They could share their struggles and trust each other to listen. The conversation also turns inward. If you struggle to acknowledge your own fear, shame, disappointment, or insecurity, staying present with someone else’s feelings can be difficult. Chris shares his video diary practice: recording himself talking through a difficult experience, noticing where he’s blaming someone else, and identifying his own contribution. Ana explains how pausing before reacting and naming what you feel can change a difficult conversation. She shares an example from parenting her teenagers, where recognizing her irritation gives her a chance to respond more deliberately. They also explore vulnerability. Sharing a familiar story isn’t always the same as revealing something you’re afraid to say. Being vulnerable involves emotional risk—and paying attention to how the person beside you responds. The goal is a relationship where both people can speak honestly, take responsibility, and stay engaged when things get uncomfortable. Conflict is another chance to practice these skills. Staying present, hearing each other out, and repairing after a misstep can build trust. Avoiding every tough conversation leaves the same problems unresolved. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN • Why professional success doesn’t automatically translate into relationship skills• How to listen without immediately trying to fix the problem• What emotional safety looks like in everyday conversations• How to recognize physical signs that you’re becoming reactive• Why pausing and naming your feelings can improve communication• How a video diary can help you recognize your own patterns• The difference between a rehearsed story and genuine vulnerability• What to pay attention to when choosing someone you can open up to THE EMOTIONAL SAFETY CHECK Think about your last difficult conversation. What did you feel—and what did you do with it? Did you listen to understand, or prepare your defense? Did you share what was happening inside you, or expect the other person to figure it out? Next time, pause before responding. Name what you feel. Ask a question before offering a solution. What Do You Bring to the Table? The Truth About Emotional Availability

FINANCIAL STABILITY MAY GET HER ATTENTION. EMOTIONAL SAFETY IS WHAT MAKES HER WANT TO STAY. Ask a successful man what he brings to the table and you'll probably hear financial stability, loyalty, consistency, ambition, and protection. Those things matter. But they aren't enough to create emotional intimacy. In this solo episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana breaks down a conversation from a recent three-day private coaching immersion with a high-performing male client. The question was simple: What do you bring to the table? By the end of the weekend, he realized he brought far more than he initially thought. But he also realized that what you bring isn't only about what you provide. It's about what the woman you're with actually experiences when she's with you. You can pay for everything, never raise your voice, work hard, stay faithful, and provide a beautiful life, while the woman beside you still feels completely alone. Because stability is not the same thing as availability. Ana explains the difference between being emotionally regulated and emotionally available, and why many successful men have mastered the first while struggling with the second. Emotional availability means letting her into your internal world. Staying present when conversations get uncomfortable. Getting curious instead of defensive. Hearing a complaint without immediately explaining yourself. Noticing when something shifts and leaning toward her instead of retreating. Underneath all of it is emotional safety. Can she tell you the truth without worrying about your reaction? Can she cry without you shutting down or trying to fix her? Can she bring you her heart, ideas, fears, dreams, disappointment, and messiness and trust that you'll receive them? Ana shares a simple three-part framework for those moments: Don't take it personally. Thank her for telling you. Ask good questions. Instead of defending yourself: “Thank you for telling me. Can you tell me more?” Ana also walks through her Seven Pillars of Life and shows why neglecting the emotional and relational pillars eventually affects intimacy. High-performing men are often exceptionally strong professionally and financially. But if the emotional and relational pillars are weak, success in the other areas won't compensate for what's missing at home. Financial and emotional stability may get her in the door. Emotional availability and emotional safety give her a reason to stay. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • The difference between emotional stability and emotional availability• Why providing financially isn't the same as creating intimacy• How defensiveness quietly destroys emotional safety• The three-step framework for receiving difficult feedback• How to stay present instead of shutting down or pulling away• What emotional availability looks like day to day• How to audit what you actually bring to a relationship• Why professional success can't compensate for relational weakness THE TABLE AUDIT Write down everything you believe you bring to the table. Then ask yourself a harder question: Is what I'm bringing what she actually needs? If you're in a relationship, ask her. Then listen without defending yourself. Infinite Patience Produces Immediate Results

PATIENCE ISN’T ABOUT HOW LONG YOU CAN WAIT. IT’S ABOUT KNOWING WHAT’S WORTH WAITING FOR. How do you know when you're being patient and when you're just wasting your life? In this solo episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana explores one of her favorite quotes: “Infinite patience produces immediate results.” It sounds contradictory. How can waiting produce immediate results? The answer isn't about getting what you want faster. It's about finding peace before you get it. Ana shares the deeply personal story of spending two and a half years fighting to reunite with her children after leaving Hawaii. She prayed, pursued every possible solution, and struggled through one of the darkest seasons of her life. Today, her children are living with her in Florida, her oldest son lives down the street, and she's preparing to become a grandmother. But looking back, Ana realizes she spent much of those two and a half years at war with the waiting. What she eventually learned is that surrender doesn't mean giving up. It means doing what you can and finding peace with what you cannot control. And that lesson applies directly to relationships. Whether you're single and waiting for the right person or married and hoping your partner will finally change, there's a difference between patience and stalling. Patience involves intention, action, and evidence. Stalling is simply letting time pass while hoping something changes. Ana explores what she calls the holding season: the time between relationships when you can understand your patterns, establish your non-negotiables, build a fulfilling life, and prepare yourself to choose a healthier partner. She also tackles one of the hardest questions in love: How long should you wait for someone to change? Real growth has evidence. It shows up in consistent behavior, accountability, effort, and follow-through. Promises aren't progress. Apologies aren't change. And someone's potential isn't the same as who they are today. After spending 13 years hoping her marriage would improve, Ana had to face the painful reality that her patience was keeping her invested in a future that wasn't materializing. For high-performing men who understand investing, Ana offers a familiar perspective: You wouldn't hold onto a failing investment simply because you've already invested years into it. You would examine the data, patterns, and performance history. Your relationships deserve that same discernment. This episode is about knowing when to surrender, when to keep showing up, and when waiting longer is no longer serving you. Because infinite patience can bring you peace today. But patience without discernment can cost you years you'll never get back. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • What “infinite patience produces immediate results” actually means• Why surrender can bring peace before circumstances change• How to use your holding season to prepare for a healthier relationship• Why understanding your attachment style matters• How to identify your values, standards, and non-negotiables• What healthy patience looks like when your partner is working on themselves• How to recognize genuine growth versus empty promises• Why you cannot force someone to change• Why falling in love with someone's potential can keep you stuck• How to evaluate relationships by looking at patterns instead of promises• Why knowing when to stop being patient is part of wisdom READ UNAVAILABLE If you keep finding yourself attracted to emotionally unavailable people, ignoring red flags, falling for potential, or repeating the same relationship patterns, Unavailable goes deeper into why. https://amzn.to/4tOQDUE BOOK A COACHING SESSION Ready to stop repeating the same patterns and start making better decisions in love? https://calendly.com/analeacoaching/60-minute-zoom-hourly EXTRA RESOURCES Attachment Style Quizhttps://quiz.attachmentproject.com Enneagram Quizhttps://www.truity.com/test/enneagram-personality-test

The Best Sex I've Ever Had Made Me Choose Celibacy

THE BEST SEX I’VE EVER HAD MADE ME CHOOSE CELIBACYHow a Cemetery View, a Broken Heart, and One Epiphany Taught Me the Difference Between Loneliness and Peace CELIBACY WASN’T REALLY ABOUT GIVING UP SEX. IT WAS ABOUT LEARNING WHAT MY PEACE WAS WORTH. Most people assume there’s a sad story behind celibacy. Mine started with the best sex of my life, a breakup, a move to Nashville, and an apartment overlooking a cemetery. In this solo episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana shares what happened when almost every familiar source of comfort disappeared at once: her relationship, her kids, her best friend, her career, her community, and eventually dating and sex. What looked like one of the hardest seasons of her life became one of the most transformative. After moving to Nashville alone, Ana realized God wasn’t simply taking things away. He was removing the distractions she had leaned on and teaching her discipline, obedience, trust, and how to build a life she actually enjoyed living. Celibacy became part of something much bigger. Instead of dating, Ana started dating herself. She built her coaching business, launched her podcast, worked out, prayed, journaled, wrote music, went places alone, stopped drinking, and learned how to enjoy her own company without needing someone else’s attention to make her feel valuable. And somewhere in that season, she found something she hadn’t expected: peace. Ana also talks about why she became far more protective of her body, time, and energy. Chemistry alone no longer earns access. Neither does attraction, loneliness, attention, or the possibility of what someone could become. When you start valuing yourself differently, your decisions start reflecting it. Today, Ana isn’t interested in trading peace for company. A date isn’t “just dinner” when your time is one of your most valuable assets. And sex isn’t something she wants separated from emotional, spiritual, and relational connection. This episode isn’t an argument for celibacy. It’s an invitation to look at what you’re giving away, what you’re using as a distraction, and whether you actually know how to be alone without feeling empty. Sometimes the season you never would have chosen is exactly where you learn who you are without everyone else. Don’t waste the view. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN • Why Ana chose celibacy after the best sex of her life• The difference between abstinence and intentional celibacy• Why solitude can expose what you’ve been using as a distraction• What dating yourself actually looks like• Why Ana became more protective of her body, time, and energy• Why attention and validation aren’t the same as connection• How faith changed the way Ana experienced being alone• Why chemistry doesn’t automatically earn someone access to you• How learning to enjoy your own company changes dating• Why your partner cannot be your entire sense of home• What it means to ask, “Is this peace, or is this just a distraction?”• Why some uncomfortable seasons shouldn’t be rushed through• How surrender, trust, and intentional living can change your life READ UNAVAILABLE If you keep finding yourself attracted to emotionally unavailable people, ignoring red flags, falling for potential, or repeating the same relationship patterns, Unavailable goes deeper into why. https://amzn.to/4tOQDUE BOOK A COACHING SESSION Ready to stop repeating the same patterns and start making decisions that reflect how much you value yourself? https://calendly.com/analeacoaching/60-minute-zoom-hourly LISTEN TO WIND IN HER HAIR Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/7Cy5gftTHPYqD7wdR5ctVs Apple Podcastshttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/wind-in-her-hair/id1832581085 YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@analeacoaching EXTRA RESOURCES Attachment Style Quizhttps://quiz.attachmentproject.com/ Enneagram Quizhttps://www.truity.com/test/enneagram-personality-test

    Dating is Data

Get Off the Merry-Go-RoundDATING ISN’T JUST ABOUT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON. IT’S ABOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT EACH RELATIONSHIP IS SHOWING YOU.Dating gets messy when chemistry, attraction, old wounds, and hope start speaking louder than the evidence in front of us.In this episode of Wind in Her Hair, Ana sits down with speaker, author, and coach Dr. Wendy to talk about dating differently—slowing down, observing patterns, healing between relationships, and learning to recognize and participate in a healthy relationship. After two divorces, Dr. Wendy found herself asking an important question: How could she be successful in so many areas of life yet continue getting relationships wrong? That question led her to examine childhood experiences, emotional wounds, attraction, and the patterns she kept repeating.Together, Ana and Wendy unpack one of the most important principles in dating: dating is data.Dating gives you information. How does someone communicate? Do their actions match their words? How do they handle conflict? Do they respect boundaries? Are they accountable?Chemistry matters—but chemistry cannot carry a relationship. They discuss how childhood experiences shape adult attraction, why familiar doesn't necessarily mean healthy, and why people can repeat the same relationship with different partners. They also explore the importance of taking a real reset after a breakup instead of immediately jumping into another connection. What did you ignore? What pattern are you repeating? What needs to change before you choose again?Ana and Wendy talk about giving people too much access too quickly, falling for potential, ignoring red flags, and staying on the same relationship merry-go-round hoping for a different outcome. They also discuss faith and discernment. Prayer matters, but prayer isn't a substitute for wisdom. You still have to observe, ask questions, listen, and pay attention to what someone's behavior is telling you.Sometimes getting off the merry-go-round means accepting that chemistry isn't enough, potential isn't enough, and promises aren't enough.Date reality. Pay attention to patterns. Use the data.WHAT YOU'LL LEARN• Why “dating is data” changes how you approach relationships• How childhood experiences influence attraction• Why familiar doesn't always mean healthy• Why people repeat relationship patterns• What a dating reset looks like after a breakup• Why giving too much access too quickly can work against you• Why intentional dating requires patience and observation• How to stop falling in love with potential• Why actions matter more than promises• How faith, wisdom, and discernment work together• Why you don't need another adult as a project• How to know when it's time to get off the merry-go-round• How to move through a breakup without immediately rebounding• Why creating a life you love changes how you date• Why waiting can be preparation, not punishmentREAD DR.
